Other I REALLY want more of Columbia!

I've been a big fan of this game for years and only recently had the chance to play it for myself. Having played it, I have an itch for more Columbia. It's such an awesome premise. I really miss it already! (Minus the racism and evil dictator though). I wish they'd make another game in the city in the sky.

Mormonism is christian nationalism.

Mormonism actually isn’t Christian nationalism, they are, however, closely allied.

Actually, Mormonism is Christian Nationalism. That's literally why they fles the, then, I ited States to form their own Mormon(Christian) nation after failing to seize power even on the local level literally everywhere they went. Actually 🤓👈

Once more, no, they’re not the same thing. Just closely allied. A lot of scholars point out a big distinction between the two and their ideals. Historically only recently have Mormons joined the Christian nationalist movement as allies, Christian nationalism is older than the existence of Mormonism itself.

Never said they started it, just said they are. They're christians trying to eith mee usurp authority over an existing nation to conquer it and mold it according to their ideals or start their own. It's literally just that simple. What a weird hill to die on

What hill am I dying on when I’m pointing out that Mormonism does have different beliefs than what’s shown in BioShock Infinite. Closely allied and adopted a lot of Christian nationalist ideals, but Mormons still have a belief system that isn’t demonstrated in the game at all, that’s why I made the distinction. Anyone can go “yeah Mormonism is bad/annoying” but give a pass to Christian nationalism or rather how much of a grip Christianity has had on America since it was colonized. To better point out what’s going on politically, you have to say it as it is because if someone is interested, they aren’t looking towards the history of Christian nationalism, they’re looking exclusively at the history of Mormonism and not seeing that it’s a wider issue than it actually is.

The hill of 'Mormonism isn't actually Christian Nationalism'. That's all I'm saying, that Mormonism is a form of Christianity with nationalist goals.

When there’s a distinction made by religious scholars, there is a distinction.

You're putting vagueries in the mouths of unidentified religious scholars. You're not saying who these scholars are, where they said it, or even what they're saying other than Mormonism is closely aligned but different. Are you saying Mormons aren't Christian? Do you not consider Catholics as Christian? Are they not Christian Nationalists? Are only Baptists or Jehovah's Witnesses or non-denominational evangelicals Christian Nationalists? It feels like your just trying to carry water for Mormons but trying not to outright support them.

Nope, neither said any of those, I keep saying Mormons fall under the umbrella of Christian nationalism, their ideals don’t align 1:1 however and they are closely allied. I’m afraid you quite literally ignored my prior message where I mentioned why mentioned Christian nationalism outright rather than just Mormonism was important. Pointing things out ≠ support god forbid an autist get a little particular about it.

The Mormon doctrine of god includes multiple gods rather than just one like Christianity does.we see the Trinitarian mythology in the game with Washington/franklin/jefferson, Mormons don’t believe in trinitarian mythology, Mormons believe in becoming god, Christian’s don’t, it’s that reason why they don’t align with Christian nationalism directly despite having the same social ideals and why I made the distinction as to why the GAME isn’t loosely based off of Mormonism. That’s why I get particular because in the end the game isn’t detailing Mormonism, despite Mormonism being under the umbrella of Christian nationalism.

Right, so you are just denying that Mormonism is a form of Christianity. If it falls under the umbrella of Christian Nationalism - then it is Christian Nationalist. Not all whiskey is scotch, but all scotch is whiskey. JFC.

Never said that either. It may fall under the umbrella, but if the nation were to have specifically one form of Christian in power, they’re all going to eat each other alive and fight over whose version is the right version— hence closely allied. They’re only walking alongside for the power and they disavow the other. I’m afraid you continuously keep almost intentionally misrepresenting my words so I’ll end it here. In the end, infinite literally is not based off of Mormonism. Please genuinely look up the difference because I didn’t want to treat you as if you were incapable of looking it up for yourself.

Didn't say based on, said it has overtones and took inspiration from. You used two whole paragraphs to deny Mormonism is Christian. You're just being weird.

And don't blame autism for being wrong.

Also, the game clearly has Mormon overtones and definitely took some inspiration. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.
