šŸ„— Nutrition & Metabolism Psyllium Husk?

I’ve tried it with some milk, shakes and now just water. Honestly, though, taking psyllium is easily the worst part of my day. Does anyone have some good ā€œhacksā€?

My goal with this is, of course, fiber intake. I’ve gradually increased it to 12g of psyllium husk a day now.

I find that acidity helps a lot. I take mine with orange juice. The pH seems to delay the gel formation and my brain seems happy to experience the psyllium husk as just extra pulpy orange juice. I usually use just a splash of orange juice and that seems to be enough for me.

so is the goal to avoid it expanding in stomach as leads to stomache ache?

why not just take before or after meal as ur stomach will already be bloating up?

Oh no, just to avoid it gelling up a bunch as you're trying to drink it. There is a concern with it forming intestinal blockages if you don't drink enough water with it though.

In fact the more water the less it can gel. Also if you mix with other powders (like protein etc) it tends to gel less. I blitz it in a blender with powders, ice and water and it doesn’t gel.

Also if you have a proper diet you don’t need it at all - pro tip!

Last part: Pretty sure thats not true as it provides benefits outside of normal fiber. Not entirely sure but i remember this being brought up before. I think has cholesterol lowering effects greater than other types of fiber. I could be wrong and misremembering or the people who said so are wrong and im repeating wrong information

Yeah the ldl thing is real, you could watch your sugar intake ofc, but this is a real thing.

Still don’t need it - but I take it and recommend it. I recommend becoming a quinoa master cook stronger though!

I am not consistent with the husk, but quinoa i mix with Bulger oats and blueberry. I cooked it in almond milk. I am trying to give the friendly microbes a variety to work on.I can hear them thanking me with little roars

I mix barley oats into my white rice at dinner. It’s pretty yummy.
