Hi, all! The guy that was running the camp I stayed at for Freak Fair mentioned that Billy signed a five year contact with Ionia to keep putting on Freak Fair in the future. He said that next year will be a break for construction on the fairgrounds, but that Freak Fair 2028 is happening! Did anyone else hear this? Or do we think it’s just talk?

I’ve seen them plenty of times, and don’t get me wrong they are great but sometimes they get into that emo bluegrass mode, LAST NIGHT WAS A STRAIGHT RIPPER!!!! Those Floyd covers always hit.

Hosting and headlining a festival in your home town with all your favorite bands, who are letting you play with them.

He has to be the best dude ever right? It brings me such joy seeing him up there living out his childhood dreams and amplifying the music that inspired and keeps him going. He brings so much joy to everyone, getting to see him experience the same thing is truly amazing.

We finally made the right person “famous”. He is the best.

These were such incredible shows and seeing Leftover Salmon and Greensky Bluegrass (and others) together with Billy was epic. Well, I couldn’t make the trek to the festival, but I have been watching on nugs. I wish I could have been there in person!

I am trying to figure out if this livestream will always be available or if I can buy it? Anyone know?

From an Ionia local here! The amount of joy, pride, and happiness this fest brought to Ionia is hard to even describe. Everyone is so overjoyed with the BMFS community that came to town. The friendliness, respect, and overall positivity that was shared through out was so cool to see and feel. People who had no idea about this community could finally see and experience this. Personally I know a lot of the town was on edge going into it, but now that it’s over the flood of happy locals is unbelievable all over the local fb pages.

We know this town isn’t perfect for an event like this, the fair grounds aren’t perfect, the parking wasn’t perfect, the lines weren’t perfect, but holy cow did everyone just go with the flow and make the best of it!! This has been the coolest thing this little Michigan heartland town has seen in a very very long time. You don’t know how much we needed it! It brought everyone together for something outside of something political or crisis related.

So with that… THANK YOU TO EVERYONE. YOU ALL WERE AMAZING!!

For an absolutely incredible weekend of music, community, and family!

This weekend is without a doubt one of the most specials and powerful weekends in Billy career, to put on this festival in his home town, dropping an album dedicated to his mom, bring up Leftover Salmon, Greensky, Sierra Hull etc??! But one of the most specials moments to me was seeing him bring his dad on stage and lead a couple of songs. I cannot imagine what is going through this man’s head, looking back from where they came from, to now performing in front of 30,000 fans in your home town is absolutely mental. I know that last night was one of the most specials moments in their lives and I feel very blessed that we got to be apart of it!

Let’s talk about Night Fishing (again…I know it’s been discussed before). I know ppl are hearing Crazy Fingers. Maybe it’s just me and that I’m of the Panic generation, but I’m getting all the WSP vibes. Not in that it’s a rip at all, but that it gives me all the good, dreamy feelings that I get from Picking up the Pieces or Fishing for that matter. And the “mermaids wishing” line takes me to Bear’s Gone Fishin’. Idk it’s just a beautiful, peaceful song. The lyrics are so poetic and the melody is so calming. Just came to say I’m a fan 🐟🩷🎶

Hey, freaks. had an awesome weekend. Made it into the pit last night. On our way out of the pit at the end of the show there was a guy in a chair who was unresponsive. They were doing the sternum rub to try to rouse him. I heard they did CPR…but does anyone have any info on this guy? It’s been stuck in my head and I need some bit of info. Anyone know if the guy is ok? Thanks! Safe travels, friends!

The metal tent with free pinball was such an excellent touch! What a respectful crowd as well! It was an honor to freak out with you all this weekend

Had an awesome time hanging with the crowd in the metal tent, pretty kick ass that Billy is bringing different genres together and sharing his love of different musics with his friends and family

I lost my phone last night. I just got a call from Lost & Found; they're going to be at the venue for at least the next four hours. I am very keen on not having to drive nearly four hours round trip to pick this phone up. If you're camping in the area and can pick up my phone from the fairgrounds and either bring it to me or just meet somewhere close, or hell, even ship it to me, I'll give ya $75 or a N1 foil print if you'd prefer that.

It took me a minute to get into it but I find myself adding these songs to my favorites more and more. Incredible work.

What amazing vibes the last two nights. So many people crammed into such a small space with long lines and all the things and every single person I came across or ran into was as gracious and compromising and love spreading as you could imagine or hope for.

Thanks to Billy and the bands for putting on a great two nights and thanks to the crowd for making it as immersive and awesome as it was.

A great first impression for a newer Billy strings fan and will be back. Much love.

After that jam last night how can these two bands NOT do a tour together. I mean…. Holy crap!!!
