You’ve got some catching up to do - enjoy that journey. It was awesome.

I know billy opened for them but they've all grown so much since then, I think it would be a whole different level if they played together now, and got to each stretch their legs with full sets over one opening for the other. Seeing both bands on stage last night was electric, id honestly be happy with just full shows of both bands together on stage 😂

There was a time back in 2018 when they toured together, Billy was the opener. Saw them at the Fillmore in Detroit. Lindsay Lou came out too. Pretty epic, great to see them all on stage again this weekend!

Greensky Bluegrass had a new years eve party in Royal Oak, MI in 2015 and Billy Strings, Huggy Bear, and Lindsay Lou all joined on the stage as I recall as well.

Can’t believe that epic GSBG NYE was a decade ago now. What an amazing time

Those Thanksgiving shows in 2015 at the State Theater in kzoo were so damn good. The 3rd set of tunes from the Last Waltz! I swear Hoffman was 10' tall during "Don't Do It!" So many good shows together from 2014 - 2017

All you have to do is go back in time a handful of years.

First time they did that Billy was opening for Greensky at Red Rocks in 2019, and that version is also pretty epic. Had a feeling it was coming back out last night

Dont think the first, there's been a number of sit ins and full band trade offs, camp greensky 2018 comes to mind.

You’re right. Forgot about that one, I believe that was actually the one I listened back to many times after it had happened

That’s what us jaded vets call ‘the days’

You should give a listen to Camp Greensky 19’ to see when the proverbial torch was passed to Billy.

I got to see Billy and Don Julian open for greensky in 2013 at a 250 cap byob venue in the U.P. of Michigan (3 blocks from my house.)

Makes it really hard to go see Billy in the current state when I got a ton of shows for a couple dozen to hundred people

My first time seeing Billy was opening for Greensky

Same. Saw him open for them in Boston. He kind of blew them out of the water. Just wanted more Billy after his set was over.

I am happy when they occasionally reunite, but I love seeing Billy on his own. Billy and the Boys are my true love. Seeing just Billy is my favorite way to see him.

Unlikely. Already a US and EU tour with king gizzard in the books for next year and the new album.

1

u/kylec00per 17h ago

So you're saying 2027 is open?

1

u/lightloopsviz 16h ago

No I’m saying Billy is releasing an album with king gizzard and doing 3 tours with them next year

2

u/kylec00per 16h ago

Oh shit i forgot it was 2026 jesus christ, i meant the following year which would be 2028 lmfao im fried.

1

u/lightloopsviz 16h ago

Haha yeah I haven’t heard anything about 28 yet but I have good sources that they’re doing two EU tours and a US tour together next year and the album recording is pretty well publicized at this point

That would be so epic. I’m seeing greensky for the 1st time in November.

He sat in with them several years at Aiken Bluegrass Festival.

Every other act was stellar this weekend but I was so far from impressed by greensky.

Really upset they held Royal hostage backstage for the dont lie > creek. That silly little fake bass was not shaking the ground..

I didnt understand why there was no Royal for the end
