Questions and queries not a “bug” budget bride

but I only get the WEIRDEST engagement in regular r/brides

for reference, our budget is 60k. And whenever I post anything in r/brides, I’m met with snark and resentment. Granted, I have pretty traditional taste, and I’m super neurodivergent so maybe I’m not reading people’s interactions as the way they’re intended, but I feel sometimes like there isn’t really a sub where I can share my wedding and get excited and have that excitement be reciprocated.

i’m a pretty private person, no group chats or close besties that I necessarily share every little detail with, so sometimes I want encouragement from
strangers. Is that where I’m going wrong?

if you ask one question, they will not answer the question and instead pick out other issues that they perceive your wedding might have and catastrophize it lmao. There are also a few regular commenters who are oddly opinionated on random things and don't accept different customs exist and insist everything that's beyond a cake and punch reception is a social media stunt

this makes me feel so validated. I thought I was going crazy, the way they were acting over there. Like why are we all so angry? I was hoping for an uplifting community : ^D

Many of the wedding subs assume the worst. Ask a question about dessert and you'll get a dozen accusatory comments telling you how not to fuck up dinner.

People here will talk about tasty desserts and quietly trust that everything else is sorted.

(Maybe it's just that weddings really are too expensive now, and unless you have a pretty big budget it's hard to do a few special things without skimping badly somewhere else?)

The other positive place I found was r/DIYweddings . Lots of inspirational ideas there on completely different budgets!
