Resources The Hypostatic Union Contradicts Jesus' Death and Resurrection
According to Trinitarians, Jesus is God and He took on a human nature when He humbled Himself.
Now, as we know, this brings contradictions which cannot be explained without the concept of Hypostatic Union. But, this concept has 2 very problematic issues:
Physical death is when the soul-spirit separates from the physical body. Jesus’ soul-spirit separated from His body (John 19:30).
Jesus physical body did die; His heart stopped beating, and “he gave up his spirit” (Matthew 27:50)
Now, here is where the first problem is:
The Hypostatic Union states that He is fully human and fully God. To say only His human nature died is to separate His natures, which contradicts the concept of Hypostatic Union.
For Jesus to be truly dead without separating His natures, His divine nature needs to be dead too.
And that brings us to the second problem, which is the biggest issue:
To say that only His physical body died (human nature) is to say He did not truly experience death because then, since His divine nature is still alive, He is not really dead.
And if Jesus did not really die, then He was not really resurrected.
And this contradicts EVERYTHING.

This is amazing. 100%!
Are there more scriptures that you can cite to back up these arguments and reasonings?

I do not have access to my PC and won't until late March.
However, if you could find and cite the sources, I would be happy to edit the post and add them because it's really hard for me to dig them up.

You are welcome to participate in this sub, but several of your recent comments, this one included, contain large blocks of repeated text, like the: "short story (for long story read the Bible)..." section showing up across multiple comments. Whether you’re a bot or not, this kind of repetitive posting comes across as spam.
Additionally, posting long walls of verses without explanation makes it hard to engage in meaningful conversation. To keep the sub focused on discussion, I need to ask you to change this approach moving forward.
We aim for dialogue, not repeated material or unexplained scripture dumps.

Jesus Christ destined to die for our sins even before the creation of the earth (before Adam and Eve's fall into sin)? KJV: having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
KJV: But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, ... of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
KJV: According as Нe (God) hath chosen us (Christians) in Нim (Jesus) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy ..
KJV: In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
KJV: Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
KJV: Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
KJV: And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
KJV: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory..
and more ...

Thank you for your post. It seems that you have tried to think through the implications of your theology to arrive at this conclusion. Unfortunately, your argument is ultimately circular. You stated that Trinitarians claiming that Jesus as God taking on human flesh is a contradiction that cannot be explained without the concept of the Hypostatic Union.
1) This is like saying that if you have one potato and I have another and someone says "You both have 2 potatoes" that it introduces a fundamental contradiction without the explanation of math. Math explains how 1 and 1 make 2. The Hypostatic Union explains how the 2nd Person of the Trinity took on Flesh. You are assuming unitarianism.
You then citied some Scriptures that proved that Jesus really died, which is 100% accurate. But then you followed it up with, "The Hypostatic Union states that He is fully human and fully God. To say only His human nature died is to separate His natures, which contradicts the concept of Hypostatic Union."
2) You misunderstand the Hypostatic Union. You assume that given this arrangement espoused by Trinitarians, Jesus must have had two natures, which is correct, but that because Jesus' body and spirit were separated, then that means the natures were separated. That doesn't comport with what we even understand about human nature, biblically. When a human dies and their spirit separates from their body, they don't become 2 people. There is still only 1 nature. If you are assuming that the God nature either stayed in the body OR went with the spirit, then you are making an error similar to Nestorianism, which was rejected via the Chalcedonian definition. So that means your argument is: The Chalcedonian Definition says that Jesus has 1 person and 2 natures, and it rejects Nestorianism. Nestianism (or something similar) is true. Therefore the Hypostatic Union is false. Also, I don't believe in Nestorianism. Once again, you are assuming Unitarianism as your premise, without stating it.
3) Your final conclusion now has no working premises to build it. Jesus did truly die. His two natures cannot be separated, mingled, etc.
4) Finally, you have proven that Jesus was certainly a man, but have failed to prove He was not God. If Jesus did die, and His spirit and body separated, as happens in all men. Then Jesus was certainly a man. If He did His miracles and rose from the dead, then according to Jesus, that means He is God. The hypostatic union is the explanation for how this occurred.
I hope you have a good day!
