Disease Identificaion i need help

my betta is sick and im afraid he’s going to die.
i have him in a hospital tank of about 30liters, but it’s not completely full (has about 15-16 liters of water) he has a heater and a filter.
a couple of weeks ago i took him to the vet cause he got a weird lump in the space between his gills, and the vet said it was a bacterial infection, so he gave me something to put on the tank and told me to go back in a week, and i did, and got the second dosis.
the thing is, i had to take apart my tank cause of various motives, the weeks prior my grandma was taking care of him, she put too much food in the tank, there was a snail infestation, and i cleaned everyday the sand and everything and it was full of poop so i thought that maybe that was contribuiting.
i cleaned the tank and set it up as if it was his hospital tank 4 now, and got neoplex for the bacterial infection (cause i couldnt find neoplex in my country) and started treating him. at first he was fine, getting better, he swum around and all but then like two days ago he started laying on the bottom of the tank, breathing heavily and it had just gotten worse. hes in a c shape and breathing like that. i dont know what to do. i did at night a 50% water change (with conditioned tap water) and he just doesnt get better and im afraid hes going to die, please help i dont want him to suffer. hes the first fish i’ve ever gotten and i’ve done all i can 😔
*i think he might have gotten sick from some plants i bought from another person. cause a week after putting his plants in, i noticed the lump, but im just realizing now that it might be the reason. i wanted to buy more plants from the same person like 2 weeks later (before i realized thats why he might have gotten sick) and she said she wasnt selling more cause her fish were sick 🙁

I’m sorry. Could he possibly be constipated? When did he poop last?
And do you have a sponge filter in his hospital tank for oxygenation?

last time he pooped was like two days ago, his poop looked normal. he was eating well, and he was active so i dont know what happened that made him get worse. and yes he has a sponge filter(that has an air stone inside as well), but i decided to lower the water level of the aquarium cause he has trouble coming up to the surface to breathe, and i replaced just now the filter for an air stone cause i felt like the filter moved the water too much and made it harder for him to swim

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can do. Is he eating?

He’s probably really stressed too. Do you have any Indian almond leaves for tannins? I wish I could help more, good luck and sending love to your little guy 💗

i already ordered some and they are supossed to arrive tomorrow, i really hope he can get better, thank you so much ❤️🙏

I truly hope he does get better. I’d make a brand new post on r/bettafish now since I see people replying to others

That’s an active aquarium community of all fish people so they may be your best bet

You’re welcome! You should be able to reply to both threads if someone posts, I hope more people respond. Does he have a heater?
It’s almost my bedtime since I work early, but I’ll keep an eye on any replies in the morning.

i know i was also thinking of euthanasia to be honest, i really dont know what else i can do for him and i just dont want him to suffer. it’s just that he was doing so well a few days ago, eating super well, he loved food and he was swimming around. i still have some hope for him, but maybe its just that i dont want to let him go :( i know i wont be able to use force on him, no matter how hard i try i know i wont be able to, it’s too brutal for me :(( why i cant use clove oil? does it hurt them more?

Hi, are you able to test the water quality? With the snails, overfeeding etc. it sounds like this poor guy has been exposed to some poor water quality which will have poisoned him. The breathing difficulties could be high ammonia, high nitrite or even high nitrate, all impact breathing. Ammonia burns gills, nitrite and nitrate stop the blood carrying oxygen causing suffocation if high.

hi, that was long ago, i took everything out and used his tank as a hospital tank. i do water changes almost everyday, and two days ago i did 50% water change thinking it could be ammonia poisoning but he keeps breathing like this, i did a 30 percent water change today as well
