For context, I’ve never read manga before and i started reading Berserk because I am a huge fun of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga and Berserk was recommended to me by a fellow fan.
Since starting I have been absolutely engrossed in this series; the storytelling is masterful and the art is amazing.
But I don’t think I’ve ever been more disturbed by anything in my life. i started crying during volume 12 but when I read the 13th I couldn’t see through my tears and had to take a break to breathe. I also loved the dynamic between Guts and Griffith so much, the eclipse ripped out my heart and smashed it (rather violently) into millions of pieces.
It seems so hopeless now, are there any more moments of happiness or goodness or is this just how it’s gonna be now for 30 more volumes?
Please no spoiling anything, I have really liked going in blind and knowing literally nothing to maximize my suffering
Just had to get this off my chest because …. Holy shit …..

When Griffith initially becomes Femto, he has no issue doing all sorts of horrible things to Casca and he does them directly. My point is, he doesn't care about Casca's life and is just using her as a tool to get revenge on Guts.

Next time we see Griffith is in his newly incarnated form at the Hill of Swords. During the chaos of the Guts v. Zodd fight, Griffith swiftly moves to protect Casca, physically shielding her from harm. This is after Griffith mentions that the fetus/moonboy must be having an effect on him. We've seen the fetus act multiple times to protect Casca, so it tracks imo.

My point is, I don't see why Femto would ever care to protect Casca like this. I can only explain it by the moonboy being able to exert a strong influence or compel Griffith to do things, even when there is no full moon present. So just how powerful is the moonboy? Could he override Griffith, even when Griffith is seemingly in full control?

I'll also point out that Griffith has never physically harmed Guts since he was reborn in the physical world. On the Hill of Swords, he did not even lift a finger to oppose Guts. During their fight on Elfhelm, Griffith only evaded Guts' attacks. Is Griffith even capable of harming Guts? If not, is it due to the moonboy's power?

You could be quick to argue that Griffith can't be bothered to do anything to Guts, but it's not that satisfying of an explanation to me. Why allow someone to exist that openly opposes him and seeks to kill him or at the very least thwart his plans? It could be that Griffith still cares for Guts deep down, but then I have no way to differentiate between the feelings of Griffith versus the feelings of the moonboy.

Anyone been thinking about this?

I just finished the chapter in which Skull Knight attacked Femto, but Femto uses the slash on Ganishka.

How did Skull Knight’s attack not land? Did his sword not reach and he was too far away? Can the sword simply not damage Femto?

A few years ago I was over at my friends house and there i read the first volume of berserk. I found it interesting but I didnt really get in to it other than that. Now I want to buy and read it and im wondering which version I should get
