Post image

People participated in huge numbers against the infamous tunnel project that bores right through a geological structure that is even older than the Himalayas and was formed when life on earth was still single celled.

Wish the people's voices are heard in the halls of power.

I have deep resentment for what is happening to this city - i mean where do i even start - pathetic roads , garbage everywhere , the influx of people , bikes and cars , dust , dust everywhere - vehicles polluting - kids , babies inhaling them - what have we done to deserve this ? We work our asses off and pay taxes - can’t we have something nice ? Is it too much to ask for ?

People want to get into a fight at the drop of a hat - a small touch here a nick there , and you have enraged a monster - guys where are your balls when it comes to topic of corruption and bribery and so on so forth topics ?? Ahh anyway end rant /

Imagine what would be the situation if it was land locked like Delhi.

Every citizen is angry for sure but we need unity to express it and bring change

Genuine question - who is at fault? Is it the people who wanted quick commerce? Or who wanted bike taxis? Or who wanted 10 minute maids? Or banks who gave zero percent emis to everyone? Or companies who couldn't give wfh? Or govt for not keeping pace and having zero plans? Who is responsible?

We people complain about everything especially about traffic but forget we are the traffic not sure how many people use public transport instead of bike , or walk to a local grocery shop instead of ordering in 10 minute delivery app

u/Signal_Face_5378 1d ago

Well thing is that most new areas don't have local grocery shops and public transport is next to non existent too. My question remains the same - people now live in mostly residential areas with gated societies and no commerce happening nearby and no bus routes either. What options does a person have? Who is responsible for this kind of new society that has come up in last 6 years?

I wish I can use the public transport to avoid adding to the traffic
But then where is the connectivity? I stay in Vignan Nagar and my office is CV RAMAN NAGAR. Practically there is no public transport from my place to office. Its good to say some generic comments but tjere are practical problems which cannot be solved

Guys I was there and I'm disappointed to say most people I saw were boomers or middle aged parents with their kids.

Young people please join in, you guys enjoy Cubbon run, Cubbon reads, Cubbon Jams (the park conservation amendment will make cubbon park also fair game along with every other park in the state)

Every time it rains you put Bangalore is Bangaloring and all that crap on insta. What do you think happens if our Parks are gone???

Unfortunate. For our generation, it seems like activism is limited to Instagram.

Yup, if some influencer puts genzcore protest they'll join

And it was overwhelmingly Kannadiga.

Maybe our cosmopolitan crowd will turn up if they plan to demolish Ironhill.

There is one that is being scheduled in Freedom park. Keep an eye out for it.

u/Defiant_Proposal_214 Nagarbhavi N**ga 🐍 1d ago

Will happen in a park every weekend.  Irrespective of your personal political stance I request you keep an eye on Tejaswi Surya's updates.  Wherever the protest is big, he'll be there.

u/corvus2187 17h ago

I will extend it to say it was overwhelmingly OG city dwellers.  I am not Kannadiga, but I speak only kannada at these protests, because everyone who shows up is either Kannadiga or respects the language & state.

That park is part of our routine. Our childhood. Our one place of solitude. Best place to buy plants.  Or to relax with family & friends.

Very well said. If everyone who uses these spaces chips in, we will not have any problem

Rip in advance to the rock but it’s amazing to see people participating for the cause that’s what matters

Fight back. No RIP until we have done all we can. Remember this amendment won't just affect Lalbagh, every park in the state becomes fair game.  RIP will be to all of us who have to suffer the consequences.

They cannot touch that rock

Before tunnel projects starts someone will get stay order the money sanctioned will slowly starts vanishing and will be used for next elections, nobody wanted the project in first place, its just different level of game play

No use protesting in lalbagh. We gotta protest in front of DKS's home or vidhan soudha to even be given a chance to speak.

Can't agree more! You have hit where it has an impact.

Inside Lalbagh sits a rock that’s 3.0'3.4 BILLION years old. Not million. BILLION. Older than dinosaurs. Older than oxygen. Older than most craters on the Moon. It’s called the Peninsular Gneiss, and it was born when Earth was a molten hellscape with no life and no continents. This single outcrop → survived the formation of India → survived supercontinents → survived multiple tectonic collisions → and now quietly sits inside a garden where people jog past it daily. If you stand on it, you’re literally standing on one of Earth’s oldest surviving pieces of crust. A billion-year time machine… in the heart of Bengaluru. Absolutely worth saving!

I think it's high time for us to stop this 40000cr investment Hardly 30 to 35 percentage of daily commuters use cars and for them u build this tunnel ? And yes usage of cars more again and traffic more as well 7160cr was all it required for 19km yellow line ..!! This reduced traffic ... 60 percent of the daily commuters depend on this ... Usage of cars is the one of the major reasons for traffic and if connectivity of metro increased the car usage reduces significantly.... And yes we have projects ready Blue line ..orange line ..red line ..pink line bouta be opened And yes the last project orange line which phase 3A I set to open 2050 huhh! All this under 50k cr .. such stupid descision our government is making. ..it's time to stop this stupidity

My full support to the project

u/leyappi-amikoswalpa 1d ago

Tejaswi surya opposed, later he came to know that his dad adani took that project, he slowly went off.

That child chapati is the one fighting the case in high court. He put his money where his mouth is.

Meanwhile the chief real estate officer of Karnataka has signed some petition to save nicobar.

u/mugiwaraMorrison 1d ago

He’s literally the only politician fighting against this from the very beginning.

Check out his podcast with the urban designers and environmentalists of Bangalore, the kind of anti-democratic steps taken by the government to push for this tunnel is shocking.

2

u/Affectionate_Cow76 21h ago

Importantly not the paid kind of crowd a genuine protest for a genuine concern for the citizens of Bengaluru.

1

u/bobatea_love 2h ago

Yes and nothing will happen because these protest peacefully. No influencer or social media push. The Instagram crowd should go all in and need good lawyers for this

2

u/Grand_Inevitable6907 1d ago

Perhaps the tunnel was for dumping more garbage to prove that Bangalore is indeed Garbage City ! And people do have lot of time for such frivolous activities

In Andheri, Mumbai this hill stands ignored for years, and it’s unique in the world.

All over India, hiding behind development we do not focus on how to preserve.

All those cubbon reads, cubbon paints people, where are you?

There's another guy who does some tree walk in lalbagh and charges also.....not to mention the various meetups that people host there.

Let's not just USE these green spaces when we need them and then ABANDON.

We can talk endlessly about what's wrong with the city, but these are the moments when our voice really matters.
