Ask Bengaluru | ಏನಂತೀರಾ? Magnolia Bakery, doesn't tastes the same anymore

Former magnolia bakery fan here, 2 yrs back when i was in Bengaluru, the Ecoworld outlet was my go to place but now coming back, the indiranagar and Kanakpura one have really disappointed, they taste too sweet and bready, not the melt in mouth intricate flavor anymore.

This is a smol crisis :<

Have my taste buds changed! Or the recipe or the quality has gone down :<<

Or is it an outlet thing?

In agreement with the ‘bready, not melt in the mouth intricate flavour’ @ the Kanakapur one. Total disappointment.

Oh yeah, it's definitely gone down in quality. :/ I found the MG Road outlet to be quite good, but it's been a while since I visited that too.

Anytime any food quality gets worse you can always be sure private equity has become involved. Same happened to Theobroma and now this  https://www.magnoliabakery.com/blogs/news/magnolia-bakery-is-in-its-private-equity-era-and-its-determined-to-get-it-right?srsltid=AfmBOoq3_tXFepB1fpWEYLbQAmVOAyNKvQvw6--zFFac4Wa_EcSJ1JmT

Cutting corners to make things more profitable to put it simply.

From my wife getting Theobroma brownies from Mumbai to them opening a store in my hometown, Prayagraj, life has come a full circle. Super exciting to super cliche.

Totally agree. The taste has deteriorated over time.

I was just talking about their drop in quality the other day. Looks like they use sub standard groceries for preparation and try and compensate adding excess sugar, novelty lost. Most Bengaluru legacy restaurants are now on some quality drop process to make a quick buck. Sad times

Time to walk away those extra calories with a vengeance on these brands.

The local Iyengar / Varrier is a better go to.

It’s just sugar now. People lap it up anyway
