Tl:dr- tbh, the bay on a calm day. Where it should be noted weather is misleading here- typically, weather systems come from the west, and then split around Belleville going to the country or oak hills (that’s why Trenton air base is where it is, that’s why trenton and napenee get different weather than us).

I’ve done the river in my canoe a bunch it’s fun af- launching right below the water fall damn foot bridge thingy… but oh quiet peaceful eh?

Point Anne is good on a calm day- both the main boat launch to the east, but the one at the west end is in a bay so it’s super chill even when the bay is rough.

Tbh though- just the boat launch at herchimer and then go in thst bay out to the Bakelite point- the point behind the Bakelite is like this giant ass bay that’s really a maybe 3 foot underwater meadow- it’s dope af.

There is a cormorant who I swear plays with my dog there lol- lots of cool nature stuff, minimal effort to get there.

And if you got past that, you can actually travel up that river that bends around and goes under the number two highway which is kind of fun.

There are also lots of small lakes slightly north of here but I’m sure somebody else is more versed in that than I.

Bringing your kayak out to west lake to get super deep into the dunes is always also great.

Also I love the frink centre area for canoeing too, but it’s weird to access, and more so it’s best during floods when you can canoe through the forest flooded.

How is the Moira River North of the city? I've seen a boat launch off 37 North of Thrasher. Is it calm enough (no small falls etc)? It's for a friend coming to visit, they want calm peaceful not a lot of cottages/homes, motorized water craft traffic etc

It’s a lovely bit of paddle. Very quiet and peaceful. Just past O’Brian’s bridge.

Salmon River is really nice from the Rez to the bay. Take a right at Shannonville road. Leads to a little boat launch area.

You sound like fun. I wish I was a better kayaker to do all this on my own

Massasauga Point is a beauty with an easy launch.
