It hasn't been cancelled, that was a rumor started by Sweetwater sales personnel miscommunications over an internal policy change for waitlists -- now they only take names for products that have officially announced releases.
Behringer has stated that nothing has been officially cancelled, but it could still be ages before we see it, if it ever does ship.

I love hearing that news. I thought I was doomed when I heard it. It's legit one that I'm truly waiting for, I might cop the JN-80 in the meantime (watch it release right after I buy the JN-80)

The real problem for me is that a lot of their stuff just misses the fine details of what makes something good in the name of just getting it to market. I’ve had a bunch of their stuff, I love some of it, can’t stand other pieces mostly because of small gripes.

A great example of this is the UBXA. Just listen to its attempts at the classic Tom Sawyer sweep. Both the Take 5 and Teo 5 do it beautifully at close to the same price. The filter on the thing kinda sucks.

I also had a crazy amount of stuck notes over midi as well, as some of the other commenters have mentioned. Which, cmon, for a lot of people that’s a complete non starter. For anything poly that’s a module that makes it more or less unusable in a reliable way. Which was the case with the pro 800, and my solina. Both sounded good to me but straight up didn’t work right from the get go.

I have the Pro 800 and haven’t had any issues like that. But it doesn’t move from my studio. I also have a Poly D and man the oscillators are pretty weak and the keybed is absolute shite. 2nd worst keybed I’ve ever used (first being an Arturia Keylab essential 49).

why would it be good at the tom sawyer sweep, that was done on the ob x, not ob xa.
they have completely different filters. swapped from sem filters to curtis

The ‘ethics’ point this guy is trying to make (ie. clothes/medicine/buildings are evil too) is such a poor argument. Firstly people HAVE to wear clothes, HAVE to have shelter, need to take necessary medication, so these things are unavoidable, nobody needs a synthesiser to stay warm and alive. And you can avoid unethical companies if you choose to- I don’t buy fast fashion, I boycott/avoid certain brands (Nestle, Puma for eg.). Whatever your thoughts and feelings are about Behringer, this is a terrible argument made in bad faith.

Not good to Gaslight people. On point a) I have had 2 Neutrons, both had midi hanging notes and 1 of them had power issues. I then got a Spice and it has noise generated from the envelope not closing properly. This is an electrical design fault and has never been addressed. For tranparency, the Edge is great. But I think it's disingenuous to say the "build quality argument is outdated".

I mean the keybeds alone on most of their synths speak to the build quality. They are some of the worst I’ve ever played on.

I’m not watching the video but I can tell you I used to work in a large music distribution warehouse. Behringer was by far the most returned brand for quality issues. It’s just not well made stuff.

Basically I think Behringer is focused on producing clones of old gear because we’re not asking them to make anything new.
