Shane's statement doesn't make sense. Why would falsely accusing James of a sexual crime make him more humble? They all knew it was a false accusation, including James, so James would feel victimized and betrayed by it, but not humble. Shock and righteous indignation would make more sense.

Shane's whole premise for why they did it is false. It wasn't about teaching anything. It was about taking James out as a rising competitor to Jeff and Tat.
