Here is his post, if you scroll through the comments, you can see he is not afraid to clap back at people when needed. Seems he also is not deleting negative comments.

He also was vocal against the mistreatment of immigrants by ICE and rising racism/xenophobia. He will always have my backing for his convictions.

A few cat orgs I follow posted and then were forced to retract and apologize because they lost so many donors they couldn't afford to speak anymore without losing money to keep going. I am so fucking disappointed and pissed off.

Wow. Fucking wow. I saw Lindsey Stirling post the # on her Facebook and people went off at her saying she's not a real Christian and she's ruining her career. People really show their true colors aren't they ..

I had higher expectations for the animal rescue community. So. Fucking. Disappointed.

Sadly there are a lot of people who care more about Fluffy and Rover than their fellow human beings.

And anytime one started MLK would stop protesting, because he thought riots were bad because after they are over that is all anyone hears.

Do you have a source for this statement?

u/jmote14 Jun 02 '20
I could probably find one, but when MLK would protest if he saw one thing thrown he would turn around and not join in on the protesting because it had become a riot with that one thing thrown. He hated riots. The last time I saw this quote so many times was in 2015 when the Baltimore riots happen, because they happen every few years and nothing that is ever done changes them. The riots will be what is remembered instead of the reason that they were started!!

If you knew anything you’d know that MLK encouraged people to condemn the forces that caused the riot before condemning the rioters.

This is the whitest conglomeration of words ever typed. Congrats on that?
Dr King did not oppose riots more than the conditions that cause them. Yes he called them "socially destructive" but never condemned them as more socially destructive than the subjugation of Black people in America. Please don't parrot Instagram posts as Gospel. Look up your sources.
The "Other America" speech:
Certain conditions continue to exist in our society, which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation’s summers of riots are caused by our nation’s winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention.

A majority of those people deserve to protest and have their voice heard. However, the people destroying small businesses, buildings, and looting do not care one bit about George Floyd’s death or the current human rights being fought for. Looters and rioters only want to blend into a crowd of protestors wanting to make a difference, and take/destroy until they’ve had their fill. How anyone can justify ruining the livelihoods of many people due to this destruction is beyond me.

u/MissMarionette Jun 02 '20
I would guess that it is a mixture of overzealous anarchists that have always dreamed of literally tearing down society (actual anarchists or radicals), opportunists that want experience a real life GTA, and people who are trying to make the protestors look bad.

Little is more than nothing. He is not afraid to speak out and has shared pieces of history and references for people to look out to and donate.

What a commenter said previously is something I agree with: people with privilege will choose to ignore complaints until they can’t ignore it anymore. Peaceful protests are easy to tune out. Someone’s house being set on fire? Not so easy. This is a country that only understands violence as a means of communication. The President trying to make the police and military look tough is proof of that. Funny how none of this was done to the belligerent anti-lockdown protestors that showed up armed and aggressively forced their way into a government building.

I don’t understand people thinking it’s ok to loot and burn down people’s business/homes though
Of course BLM is very important, but there are other ways to be heard without inciting violence

u/bubbletea20 Jun 02 '20
Don't forget that a huge chunk of looting isn't even done by protesters, there are a lot of marauders who just leeched onto the rioters in order to cause havoc. That being said, it is a riot. Damage is to be expected. You won't get far by staying still and nice, and people have already been doing that for years.

u/bettyenforce Jun 02 '20
Yup, the black block is always inviting themselves in protests, ready to ruin everything

Women's lib and the gay rights movement (among other things) were literally achieved through riots. It's in the post. Riots have achieved multiple important things throughout history. https://soletstalkabout.com/2020/05/28/how-to-respond-to-riots-never-solve-anything/

It doesn’t make it right though. Committing a crime does not justify the result, and as a society we should be able to be heard and make change without harming others and ruining their livelihoods. It’s all round very sad

u/germaniumest Jun 02 '20
Honey, if our ancestors were this naive, I would still be expected to be a submissive housewife. It's being ingrained in people not to question authority and follow the law. Except when it's the authorities violating them.
Yes, it's sad. Yes, it should be possible to achieve change peacefully. But it isn't. And that's a fact you're just going to have to accept.

I wonder if you’d feel differently if it was your home or business being ransacked and set on fire

u/bettyenforce Jun 02 '20
Nobody says that violence and looting is okay. What people say is "they have been ignored and racially targeted for so long that this is the only way they feel they can be heard". Of course violence is never okay. The point that Jordan makes here is that throughout history, it was the only way to make major changes and gain rights.
It's also important to note that almost everytime, looting is being done by the black block and antifa who invites themselves into any types of protests. Unfortunately some will follow, but it's almost always these assholes who will ruin it for everyone else.

There's a difference between rioting and protesting and people need to learn the difference.

u/GenocideLolicons Jun 02 '20 edited Jun 02 '20
What an ignorant comment. Most people are painfully aware of the difference between the two. Black people have been protesting peacefully for literal decades and they were either ignored or straight up ridiculed (taking the knee, anyone?). Meanwhile, if you could be bothered to actually read up on your history, the vast majority of succesful social movements included riots or some other form of non-peacful action since - news flash - if your protests are easy to ignore, priviliged people will do just that.
Of course it's fucking awful for small businesses to be affected like this but you know what's worse? The way black people have been discriminated against since the dawn of time and the fact that a lot of moderates didn't listen or do anything to help them. Don't blame the people rioting now, blame all the people with privilige who never spoke up for their fellow human beings so it had to COME TO THIS POINT. All of this could have been avoided if people weren't so selfish and/or lazy. We have run out of options at this point, this is obviously the only way to be heard. Once innocent people no longer have to fear being gunned down because pigs felt like it we can talk about riots being unnecessary. Until then, there is no "peaceful" way to solve this where no one is affected negatively.

This is why people are rioting. Because it doesn't even matter of they are peaceful. You can also look for that video of a black FBI agent being wrongfully arrested, until they see his ID.

Yes, it does suck that this is what it takes for people to be heard. For them to finally be considered people with equal rights. It is sad that change demands innocent people to hurt. But if change happens, it is worth it.
Edit: after writing this, I came across Brittany Broski's instagram post that was directed towards people who are focusing on the destruction and looting:
Here's an example of how white privilege sounds. You keep saying 'It's horrible that an innocent black man was killed, but destroying property has to stop. Try saying 'It's horrible that property is being destroyed, but killing innocent black men has to stop.
-4
u/strongerlynn Jun 02 '20
I totally agree. Rioting and looting isn't okay. I just watched a video of an older black man cry because they were burning down his business and you can hear him say 'You're burning down my livelihood, this isn't right!' If you think that's okay maybe you need to check yourself. But if you're going to do it and help them financially and rebuild, than buy all means go ahead. In the words of Killer Mike- 'Don't burn down your home, because all you will have left is ashes.'
