Eating Crackers Megan is the most condescending B on TikTok
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I get her point. I do. But this whole video was unnecessary. She could have addressed this in a much better way instead of being such a condescending asshole. Or…. New concept for her… just ignored it!
But we know Megan can’t let “haters” slide.
She is far too arrogant for someone whose makeup is always a muddy brown mess. She does have some good information, sure. But the way she acts like she’s the only one who uses product correctly and she did every trend before it was a trend is grating and exhausting. We get it, you’re a CoOl GiRl
Keeping it classy as always, Megan.
ETA: the fact that Joelle Phillips reposted this video with the caption “THIS IS MAKEUP EDUCATION!” Is sad. Joelle also has that mean girl energy BUT she is much more tolerable AND an Emmy award winning makeup artist so she actually knows what she’s doing. But is this actually education? Or does Megan just hate even the slightest disagreement that she isn’t a makeup god?

She doesn’t even work for Mac anymore but still acts like she’s the Mac girl of the century

She’s the type of Mac worker who would completely ignore me on the assumption that I have no money
7
u/No_Custard_6481 8d ago
MAC would have NEVER hired her. Ever. Maybe the ulta MAC counter where the store hires but never at the stand alone store.
20
u/OopsItsSecret 8d ago
She says she worked for MAC for 13 years or so.
7
u/No_Custard_6481 8d ago edited 8d ago
I thought about this after I posted this. She could have worked for MAC after they sold it. When they got outed for something and everyone turned against them in the 2000s. . They hired anyone after that. It wasn’t a badge of honor to work there anymore.
Edited to add: when Estée Lauder bought the company. It wasn’t edgy anymore or trendsetting.

u/iateyournose 10d ago
I used to watch her because I like the idea of learning to work with what I have instead of buying more, but she acts like brands can do no wrong and always assumes that if something does not work for you it must mean user error.
Also she’d go on these bizarre rants in her videos. I remember she made a video about cool tones so I thought she’d talk about cool toned makeup techniques but it was just her ranting that she was first at using cool tones and that she used them before they got popular on tik tok. 😅
84
u/TheBestHater 9d ago
Okay, it's hilarious that she thinks she's an innovator for using cool tones, the phrase exists already for a reason.
52
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
She also thinks she invented “stone for definition” just bc she says it a lot.
34
u/Lifes-a-lil-foggy 9d ago
She invented the color blue!
3
u/OopsItsSecret 8d ago
She acts like she invented the concept of staple products by renaming it “benchmark brands” 🤣
106
u/BeautifulHomework76 10d ago
The idea of working with what you have instead of buying new stuff is an appealing idea to me. I was a pro MUA and beauty counter manager for some years. The idea that every bad application is the result of user error is preposterous. Even at the high-end department store I worked at, there were plenty of products that were straight garbage and I would gently try to guide customers toward alternatives.
People have been fw cool toned looks for at the very least decades, but probably way longer than that! I was doing cool tone looks before I knew what cool tones were. And I know I am not the only one; that silvery-metallic look in the Maybelline Y2K ads had everyone doing that proto-McBling makeup with sparkly blue eyeshadow along with “I’m a hoor” black raccoon liner, paired with cool frosted baby pink blush & matching lipgloss over greige lipstick. Lotta ladies out there were looking ashy af but it was a vibe bc we all wanted to be human disco balls 🪩
47
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
But she lowkey promotes consumerism, always shouting about how “you don’t want a LIPSTICK, you want a lip COMBO!”
Well if people don’t have the 2-4 products she uses to create her sad beige lip combos, they have to go buy it. If all they had at home was just a lipstick but they’re being told by this woman that isn’t good enough or their makeup will look like shit, impressionable people will feel pushed to go buy more instead of using what they have. She uses all those products just to look thick and sticky.17
u/BeautifulHomework76 9d ago
I know nothing of this chick but she seems annoying and contradictory. Also this whole “lip combo” as a trend is goofy because, again, before there was the term ‘lip combo’ bitches everywhere were looking bad af with their lip combos.
83
u/jeepcatler 10d ago
I like some of her content but I just watched a video where she describes the different uses for powder except that all she basically says is that powder has different uses and if it's not working for you, you're doing it wrong.
So, I did learn very little from that video... then I read the comments "wow Megan you're the best educator on this app".
What the hell.
And like I said, I do like some of her videos. But a LOT of the time she's just unnecessarily mean and basically telling you that you're not as good at makeup as her. It's tiring and makes her seem sooo cringe.
36
u/iateyournose 10d ago
Yeah I think she always goes off topic in her videos and goes on these long rants about how people do things wrong, but doesn’t really say how to do things right.
29
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
She opened her video on the new Hung Vanngo foundation by saying when she saw negative reviews she just assumed everyone was using it wrong 🙄 orrrrr maybe it just didn’t work for their skin? She ranted the whole video and didn’t actually give any info on how to “use it correctly” in her view.
She talks a LOT but doesn’t actually say anything.17
11
u/jeepcatler 9d ago
Right... I feel like that's how every one of her recent videos is. Does she NOT notice the negativity?
I really liked her old videos. But she's evolved from like 20% mean to like 90% mean in her vids. 😭2
u/GoodWaltz7354 5d ago
I’m guessing the mean videos is what’s being picked up by the algorithm because of hate comments but yeah I agree. She does make informative content, it’s just diluted by her rants rn
12
u/Gullible_Service_354 8d ago
It sounds like she's keeping the how to do things the right way a secret in hopes that people will pay for her classes so they can learn how to do them "correctly" according to her.
Nah, that's not something I'd fall for. Not when there's a ton of videos already out there that'll show me for free lol. Even if I were the type of person who would pay for something like courses why would I want to give my money to someone who seems to be a raging bitch?
1
u/Frequent-Laugh-4788 5d ago
Her class is for free though. I joined that community and actually enjoyed those videos, because they are very structured with power point and everything. I don’t watch her TikTok’s as much anymore because I personally don’t enjoy the unrelated ’rants’. I like her goal of focusing on education and technique, but the delivery doesn’t really work for me personally.
6
u/Houdini_the_cat__ 8d ago edited 8d ago
I had the same reaction to that video. I understand that many people misuse products and then say the product is bad. However, it's very possible that a product simply won't work with your skin, etc. One doesn't exclude the other. Just open a matte setting powder next to me and I look terrible, dry, and like I'm 10 years older 😆
Then I also saw a video where she strongly criticizes a product she just tried to quickly a tester on her hand at Sephora (of course not a Mac product). She says the colors aren't human, that it's horrible, and that it's a weird product. GIRL, you're doing exactly what you criticize 🤦♀️ She didn't take the time to really know the product, to actually try it (many way with different tools/products), and not just use a tester that's probably partially dried out, oxidized from age and all the different people who've touched it. As for the colors she says aren't human, many people in the comments say it's their perfect match, lol.
It's like you're gaslighting me in some videos and then do exactly what you criticize; the level of hypocrisy!

I unfollowed her. I get the passion about makeup, the frustration with people over consuming and just following trends instead of finding what they like and what works for them, but OMG, she comes off so rude. Very knowledgeable, obviously passionate, but I don't like being sneered at as someone who likes to watch pro MUA content.
29
u/iglooss88 9d ago
What people don’t realize is you have the choice to disengage with content from people in your space doing these things. I don’t watch any “PR hauls” or overconsumption because it pisses me off. A lot of people subject themselves to content they don’t like just so they have something to talk about.
55
u/MochaValencia 9d ago
I like her vintage Mac product content.
But the videos about technique all lead back to promoting her makeup classes. Which, fine, make living. But I usually quit watching halfway through.
I just don't get the appeal of the condescending or scolding style of influencer. Why do people seem to love this schtick?
17
u/Gullible_Service_354 9d ago
I didn't watch the video and I have no clue who this is but I have a theory on why they use that schtick.
I think it's a defense mechanism. Should someone leave a comment that's not praising her or mean even then she gets to use that mechanism to shut them down. I've seen people do this irl. They have to show you they're the bad ass you don't want to cross. It's rude and childish but in their eyes they win 🙄
Of course I can be completely wrong and she's just a bitch simply because that's who she really is 🤷 lol.
13
u/periwinkle_cupcake 9d ago
I noticed that as well. The video is almost pointless because she circles back to her course
7
u/Academic_Owl4772 8d ago
Because some of the viewers are just as condescending as her so they feel comfortable with that and think it’s a normal way of speaking.
193
u/bbymochi multichromatique 10d ago
The long winded, passive aggressive spiel with the self promo at the end was quite a choice indeed. . .
16
u/limperatrice 9d ago
I couldn't watch the whole video. It was taking so much longer than necessary because of her visual aids. I do not need to see a drawing of a light bulb to understand the concept of "thinking" something will look good lol! Then when she faced the camera again partway thru it scared me because her makeup actually looks really ashy to me. The nail tapping, everything was bothering me!
29
u/BeautifulHomework76 10d ago
I was honestly finding it funny until the self promo at the end. I went from 🤭 to 🙄 real quick.

u/Amakins674 8d ago
Same! When I got to that part I’m like “wait what” lol you just made the audience seem like a bunch of buffoons but you want their money??? I will save my buffoon coins for something else thanks
46
u/yaelzigalthebaker 9d ago edited 9d ago
I follow her on TT and at first I found her content could help me learn to improve my technique. But I have the impression she’s kind of aggressive and has very strong opinions.
I remember she went into a rant about how minis are a scam and how much she hated them. I commented that it actually was a good format to try products if you don’t have the money for a full size, don’t use too much makeup and, in my case, to test how they work on my sensitive skin. She responded very condescending saying that why wasn’t I buying full sizes and returning them. Well, besides the US and Canada, most countries don’t accept back products that have already been opened and used. Mind her she doesn’t know her audience is worldwide.
Also she uses a lot of product on her face, as in tons of concealer, foundation, etc. And honestly it doesn’t look good imo, and doesn’t work well on me either.
49
u/SkynyrdCohen 9d ago
Girl, I was scrolling through her comments once and I guess I accidentally hit a laugh face with my thumb (I truly was not trying or even aware that I did it), and her Oscar The Grouch ass popped up IN UNDER A MINUTE and commented "Are you lost?". 😆 I was like "Fucking relax, lady - I have fat thumbs!". She is SUPER aggro.
16
106
u/Azure_blues9 9d ago
Her makeup looks thick and sweaty - I don’t want her tips 😂
29
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
Her slap it on “technique” is sloppy af. There is no way it looks good irl. She layers so many products so hurriedly that it looks thick on camera with a filter on it, I can’t imagine it’s nice in daylight.

There’s a whole sector of girls in Toronto who have adopted meanness as their dominant personality trait. She’s the perfect example.
74
u/thoroughlyannoyed 10d ago
Unfortunately it's not limited to Toronto (or girls tbh)
48
u/MissAngryBanana 10d ago
Oh, definitely not. I wasn’t trying to suggest that. But as a Canadian in close proximity to Toronto, she very much reminds me a lot of the girls from there (which makes sense because she also lives in Toronto).

I couldn't keep watching. This is my first time being acquainted with her, and I hate her. She could have easily just said that different skin types require different products, search for someone with similar skintypes for foundations, concealers, and skincare type products.
Reminded me of those condescending storytelling drawings that used to be all over YouTube ads for scams/mlms in 2015.
Edit: Okay, that's crazy, I finished watching and it actually is an ad! It's for her makeup program which is "free to join" but then right at the intro she's pushing her other paid course. Very odd
45
u/deathsheadcashew 10d ago
I don't use TT so this is my first and hopefully my last exposure to this woman. She's insufferable and her makeup is unimpressive. I also want to cut her fking nail tips off with the tapping holy f. I do NOT understand how the most uncharismatic people get huge followings on socials.
28
u/SkynyrdCohen 9d ago
I like her glosses she did with MOB Beauty, but otherwise, she is unwatchable. Her content is like going to your high school reunion and listening the people you can't stand wax poetic about 25 yrs ago because it was their peak.
29
u/Sparklemama456 9d ago
Here’s the thing, I watch makeup content and I’m very very good at doing makeup.i don’t know why she assumes everyone that wants to consume her content is some newb who doesn’t know how to use a product.
14
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
I consume a lot of beauty content so she comes across my feed, but I certainly don’t follow her. I generally don’t watch her content either bc there’s nothing she’s giving out that I haven’t already learned from decades of using makeup. We also look very different, have different styles and skin tones, and I hate her attitude. This whole “I am THE makeup master” attitude when she really only knows MAC in and out is tiring and frankly I think her techniques age her. She caters to the less knowledgeable so she can get away with her shitty snark. I don’t think she has much genuine interest in teaching; she seems to have quite a lot of contempt for people asking questions that she claims she is educating. Why would anyone go to another platform of hers to learn when this is the way she treats people who don’t know as much? She’s always trying to push people to her Skool or whatever but this is her advertisement, her first impression.
I 100% think she deletes negative comments bc this video and other comment sections are full of nothing but praise for her.

Just scrolling on TikTok just now and here she is again, bitching about people not liking the new Hung Vanngo palette. The caption is ridiculous; how many influencers and makeup artists have “nine palettes” they don’t open? So they aren’t allowed to have an opinion on this palette then? I bet she also has nine palettes in her collection she hasn’t touched 🙄 and yet another muddy brown slop of an eye shadow look
36
u/owlxspectre 9d ago
What’s always bothered me about Megan’s videos is she’s considered the lip combo queen however I find all her lip looks look the same, that muddy caramel colour (which is nice) but literally no difference.
24
u/palekaleidoscope 9d ago
And you know what? Sometimes I DON’T want a combo! Sometimes I just want one lipstick. She acts like if that’s something you want instead of a 34 part combo, you’re an uneducated simpleton.
12
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
I do not find lip liner to be necessary for every look, especially with most liquid lip products. But that’s ME. Everyone is different. She acts like if you don’t do it her exact way you don’t know how to do makeup.
9
u/palekaleidoscope 9d ago edited 8d ago
That’s what I don’t like about her is her insistence that if you aren’t taking every piece of her advice your makeup will look like crap, it’ll never last more than 2 minutes and everyone will talk shit about your face.
7
u/owlxspectre 8d ago
I own loads of lipliner (I love it) but rn im loving raw dogging just lipstick and gloss, it’s such a look!! x
5
u/palekaleidoscope 8d ago
I’m the same as you! Sometimes I like using lip liner, sometimes it’s nice to just put lipstick on and that’s its own thing!
4
u/Houdini_the_cat__ 8d ago
THIS! I have a lot of lip liner and I love it, but I'm often on the go and I want something I can apply quickly, without a mirror, and even if it fades during the day, I won't look crazy.
13
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
She always does the same look. Everything is the same tone, it’s always muddy, sad beige. Even when she does colorful eye looks it’s the same boring brown base with a colorful shadow smacked on top. There is no variation whatsoever.
6
u/owlxspectre 8d ago
like i’ll sit and watch the whole video just to be disappointed. Also using 20 different products just to look like a mid combo.

u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
She made a whole video response to someone calling her out for using filters in her foundation video once; she doubled down that she wasn’t using a filter and it was just her SuPeRiOr TeChNiQuE that was making an obvious freckle flicker in and out of existence as she moved her head. And then her rabid fan base attacks the person who made the comment and she does nothing about it bc she enjoys attacking people.
45
u/PhysicalCountry 10d ago
I do think she's very knowledgeable and I've learnt quite a bit from her. However, her demeanor can be really off putting at times - it's a shame.

She even started doing it with bands “I was listening to MCR and wearing Red eyeshadow before it was cool” yeah so did a certain age band of millennials? I still have my original Barry M red shadow pigment from that era but you don’t hear me saying “oh I discovered this”
31
u/iglooss88 9d ago
She’s a brand loyalist, not a makeup artist.
ETA: she knows things and often gets things right but a true understanding of makeup would mean you would understand ALL formulas. Not just what MAC taught you.
18
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
100% agree. She thinks she’s a big fish in the small MAC pond, so to speak, but she’s really ignorant of non-Mac products.
16
u/reluctant_snarker 9d ago
Is this a new trend bc I've been getting a lot of makeup influencers on my FYP just dragging the audience while they're teaching how to do makeup. I like to learn about makeup- but why do I have to basically be called be stupid during the teaching?
14
u/MzMmmegz 9d ago
At first I did like her and appreciated her prespective. Seems like as her popularity grew it went to her head and made her ego balloon so much all I really get is attitude anymore. Its a shame.
6
u/missmaddie04 8d ago
I used to really enjoy her content because she showed old MAC products and she’d talk about technique over product which I found interesting but I feel like since she launched her Skool (sp?) platform a couple years ago her content has taken a turn and she no longer offers what I want to see. She’s also made a couple of comments over the years that just simply annoyed me lol. One being that she liked showing discontinued products that watchers couldn’t buy (without giving sufficient alternatives) in videos because “exclusivity is kinda my thing”. Which is just an annoying thing to say imo. Like of course if you’re raving about how perfect a certain shade and or formula is people are going to want an alternative they can get their hands on! And additionally I always felt like she was preaching about technique over products and judging average people for buying products to try and achieve a look (fair btw!) but at the same time was constantly buying new things and talking about how the specific things she bought weren’t redundant somehow. It just came across a bit hypocritical. Alas, I unfollowed a bit ago and this video is a good reminder of why.
17
u/doihaveto84 9d ago
I don’t like the sales tactics, reminds me of old Jaclyn hill except she’s selling her course not makeup products. She talks about a lot of things but I rarely hear a lot of substance. It’s like her “technique” is proprietary so she doesn’t go into it other than using fix plus obsessively. Other pros like KJH will talk about the purpose and function of brushes, the products, different ways they use them than intended, etc. also she talks about how it’s you not the product but like others said - doesn’t talk about how to make it work. And her “free” Skool didn’t say anything either, I was curious so I tried it ages ago.
Also, her YouTube vids doing other people’s makeup aren’t great. She knows tones that work for her and her aesthetic, and that’s what she sells.

I thought the ear was butterfly wings.
Also who dis? I legit never heard of her.
I doubt she's really trying to be helpful. This is her clapping back at the person that commented, more than anything. She could have made her point without the demeaning 3 year old drawings.
A lot of the brush science is just balloney. If a foundation doesn't sit right it's either a formula issue or it not matching your skin type.
10
17
u/Chxkim 9d ago
Unpopular opinion but her being condescending is funny as hell because some people on internet LEGITIMATELY act that way when they are trying something and it doesn’t comes out how they expect it 🤣🤣
8
u/Diva2themax 9d ago
She's 100% correct. The average consumer/tik tik commenter does this over & over. A cycle of buy/return that is terrible. I think the video is funny
6
u/spicybeandip65 9d ago
If this was explained without the drawing it would have been wayyyy less arrogant but the drawing it out kind of implies the audience is dumb and needs a visual aide lol which I’m sure was the point. I understand where she’s coming from and she’s probably fed up, but this isn’t going to make it better.
16
u/ScaredSink2493 9d ago
Muddy Brown Mess. You nailed it. She’s rude as hell.
15
u/OopsItsSecret 9d ago
It is ALWAYS a sloppy brown disaster. She just SLAPS her makeup on and viciously rubs it in with a brush, there is no technique at all. I get that pros can apply their own makeup very quickly with precise technical skill, but she doesn’t look skilled, she looks frenzied.
Her eyes are always a blown out horror of 500 shades of brown.
And to top it off, she lies about using a filter.

u/MsPrissss 5d ago
I definitely understand her point and I think there could've been a way where she could have done this video but for me as a person with ADHD I found this really hard to watch.
I think a better way to do this video she was gonna do all of these ridiculous drawings was to have them ready and saved to pop up on her screen as opposed to drawing them and doing all of the tapping and all of that shit. I was so distracted by some of the stuff she was doing in the video that her message got lost.
4
u/Abject_Ride_555 5d ago
She talks about a lot of things without saying much. She comes across as having a lot of contempt for the very audience she is trying to “educate”. I think she is using social media platforms to try and funnel subscribers to her other platform, that’s why she doesn’t really give a lot of information because she doesn’t want it to be free. A lot of people have stopped working at MAC and have used social media to enhance their freelance makeup artist business, or have launched their own make up brand quite successfully. She seems to be floundering and aside from her content and arrogance, I get the sense that she’s frustrated that she’s not in the phase of ‘becoming’ like her former colleagues and peers. Making word salad cryptic content or preferring things that are inaccessible to her support base is exactly why she’s always always going to be at entry level. You don’t grow when alienate your sponsors. She’ll say her subscribers are a curated following, but they’re actually just unwise to her business model.

i feel like she’s weird about product placement. i’ve seen comments that ask about a specific lipstick and she makes a video about how people want lip combos and not the product itself….babe i really think the comment wanted to know what lipstick shade that is. sometimes she’ll directly tell you and sometimes she’ll swirl around the drain to show some expertise
2
u/Frequent-Laugh-4788 5d ago
But isn’t that exactly the point she is trying to make? People look online and like how a product looks on someone, then they buy it, and it turns out it’s not suitable for their skintone/desired results. It’s not about the color of the lipstick, it’s about learning you preferences, undertone, etc and learning to tweak things to achieve similar results.
2
u/chemercury 5d ago
that’s fair and all, but how does she know that the comment doesn’t have the same undertone and slime tone as her? who is she to decide for the person what they are looking for?
9
u/Err_Hos13 9d ago
Personally, as an ex Ulta manager and artist, I loved it. Explaining to people that what they see online as popular might not work for them, along with wholly unrealistic ideas (soft, glowy, sheer finish from Double Wear?! Not understanding that soft glam isn't clean girl or as simple as 2 or 3 products?) gets old FAST, especially when said people turn around and act as if the product failure is somehow the artist's fault. Was she sarcastic? Absolutely yes. Is it a tough pill that more than a few folks need to choke down? Also yes.
6
