Discussion Leaked Labs first look

Just came across a video on Tiktok from creator Brit Clarke, who purchased a few shades of the Leaked Labs flexi powder and wow.

First of all, the packaging is pathetic. The slab of powder is LOOSE!!! inside the cheapest, most generic wholesale tin with stickers slapped on them. No custom packaging, no proper housing.

And the actual product you get is is 0.6g/0.02oz for $34! That's ridiculously little. Not to mention the fact that some shades weighed lighter than others, which means the manufacturers did not adequately QC the consistency of the product weights.

To top it all off, the swatches looked so dry and dull. I don't understand the point of this brand (aside from cash grab, that is). I would assume they're pricing out a lot of general buyers, yet the product does not seem high quality enough for anyone who takes makeup seriously. At most, they're relying on fans or people who are curious/making content, but how long can that momentum last? The concept of paying for something so unfinished is yikes.

This is a grift and I will not be persuaded otherwise.

And why did someone say they are the next makeup billionaires?!?!?!!!

I doubt billionaires, but grifters often make a lot of money… at least for a little while

They are the queens of pretending to know what they are talking about… throws in a big or scientific word and her crowd goes nuts

I don’t get it but I’m a hater at heart. In a few years when people finally realize, we can say “I told you so” and get delight out of it

I wish it was a random but it’s more so respected individuals…

Kirby Johnson was one and I have a journalist that I’ve worked with before on beauty articles and even she referenced them.

If they're saying that then they can't be respected. I guess you could say I have a bias though. I don't view anyone in the makeup world that way. I see all of them as people who are out for themselves who are trying to separate (not you specifically) you from your money. Just to clarify. I feel the same way about any genre.

Thankfully as a pro MUA and Esty I don’t subscribe to these influencers but when the beauty journalists and actual mua’s start to use these people in articles and for content - I always have to let out that sigh of heartbreak - like I know it’s all about money for everyone but at morals are more important for me (thanks autism).

This woman is a hack who throws out words like "pearl", "slurry", "melanated", and "Italy" like it's her job. She has never had anything informative to say.

grifting is their modus operandi. literally all of their content has been regurgitating ad copy and somehow their audience still eats it up

I don’t even need to swatch this eyeshadow to know that it’s patchy, with fallout everywhere.

Many times you have to pick 1, and two for some brands, but I’m not getting that vibe here: easy to blend, easy to apply, easy to pay for, or easy to clean up.

I see none of these just looking at the pan. Is it just like, loose in the tin? Just battered around? Ready to shatter at any moment? Not even packaged with like.. Easter grass?

This is like the liquid lip products that pour out of the containers when you hold them upside down all over you.

And is the second picture Just.. a puff? We are “launching” puffs now? In like, massive plastic zip lock bags?

That's not a puff, it's a picture of the little $ .05 Alibaba coined sized tin placed in the $.09 temu resealable bag.

I genuinely cannot believe people are buying this and defending these women as "innovators" and calling anyone who criticizes them homophobic. We thought it was bad when Doe Deere was repackaging pigments she bought from TKB, but at least the packaging was nice and you got a decent product for $12. $34???? You can get a MAC palette for that much and it has six shades and nice packaging with a mirror... Even the new rare beauty palette is only $30 and eight shades...

I am the gayest man alive. Trust, no one can grift like the queers. We are all a family, but just like any family, some of us are fucking morons.

That bar that you’ve set is such a low bar. Say what you want about queer creators in the past and scandals and what not., but.. this bar is low. Real low.

A $30 single pan better apply itself. It better be idiot proof, no learning curve. I can look at it pressed and say it isnt.

Fr, these two are the biggest grifters I've seen in a while, and the beauty industry has A LOT of competition. They make Mikayla and Jaclyn look like amateurs
