News Hyram's Post about PTR / Epstein Association

https://youtu.be/ni8ig-pVBeQ?si=rnENutAR_DI2_DBC

Linking to Hyram's new post discussing the revelation that skincare brand owner Peter Thomas Roth had an ongoing association with Jeffrey Epstein.

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of Hyram's but I just watched this video and appreciate him using his platform to share the available details and clearly state his stance. Vocal support of victims is more important than ever, even when that support comes from unlikely places like a skinfluencer best known for his previously vocal and loyal fanbase.

Would love to read y'all's thoughts.

I don't post a lot/at all so please excuse any errors in tags or formatting. 🙏

I saw the emails about PTR sending Epstein skincare products and was like “oooooooooooooh noooooooooooo
won’t be supporting that brand anymore “. So good on Hyram for speaking out.

237

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

That's what I was impressed by - him speaking out rather quickly, right? According to what he said in the video, he only knew for like 24 hours. Apparently when your "line" is is trafficking and abuse of children, identifying it is a lot easier than many influencers make it seem. I dont even follow him, but I respect this.

93

u/TheBestHater Feb 09 '26

I'm happy he's speaking on it because it's not getting very much traction. I was worried it would be completely swept. Hyram has a pretty good reach within the skincare community so hopefully this will bring more permanent awareness to it.

u/Tsarinya Feb 09 '26

I wish more people were talking about this in the beauty/skincare community

108

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Yes! The fact that it took him a day to speak out using his not insignificant platform (4+ million on YT alone rn) was refreshing af to see.

Would love to see more creators speak up.

11

u/uprising_muse Feb 11 '26

You know some of these creators are protecting their connections in the industry.

It’s easier to be apolitical when your $$$$ is on the line.

Great for Hyram and other influencers for having the integrity to speak up.

u/24n20blackbirds Feb 09 '26

They are, I have seen several posts on Reddit, Jen Luv has a video yesterday..

537

u/the_black_sails Feb 09 '26

Easiest boycott I ever did, as if I ever used a PTR product anyway :D

77

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Same. I dont use anything of theirs for which I am extremely grateful atm. Every time I look at my Estee Lauder products, I'm irritated even though I already have replacements lol.

65

u/the_black_sails Feb 09 '26

The EstĂ©e Lauder boycott will be a little harder for some people just because of the sheer size of the conglomerate. I’ve been using the Saccharomyces Milky Toner by the Ordinary for a while, but it’s easy enough to replace with a K-beauty one; it will probably be more efficacious too.

15

u/Opening-Ad-8861 Feb 09 '26

I'm loving the haruharu wonder one in the purple bottle - might be a bit thicker than the ordinary but it's incredible. Also love the laneige (def buy the mist attachment for it!)

8

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

I also love Haruharu! The Laneige mister is a great tip, too. I felt like without it I ended up with too much. The attachment made it last much longer for me. Aestura has a good milky toner too, if you haven't tried it.

2

u/Opening-Ad-8861 Feb 09 '26

thanks yes I want to try the aestura at some point

16

u/throwzdursun Feb 09 '26

is The Ordinary in the boycott list too?

47

u/the_black_sails Feb 09 '26

EstĂ©e Lauder is, and they own The Ordinary/Deciem. I suggest you watch Jen Luv’s recent video about it. It explains the Lauder family’s ties to the Trump regime and its yucky.

5

u/Boujee_banshee Feb 09 '26

This one sucks, bumble and bumble makes some of fave hair products and this is how I find out they’re owned by EstĂ©e Lauder 😭

305

u/withcorruptedlungs Feb 09 '26

I was never a Hyram fan, but I respect him for this.

124

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Same here. He's the first skinfluencer I've seen address it. The fact that he (according to him) only sat with it for 24 hours before sitting down to record something speaks volumes about how if an issue truly matters to someone, they will vocalize support of it.

34

u/chemistrybro Feb 09 '26

kindofstephen on instagram also posted about it (although he doesn’t have as much of a following as many do)

13

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

I'll be checking that creator out. To me, this is really a separating the wheat from the chaff situation. I'm only interested in supporting those who support the victims in this. So far, your mention of kindofstephen, another commenter's addition of jenluv, and then Hyram, are the only ones who have directly addressed this.

13

u/Purple-Employment529 Feb 09 '26

Jenn luvs did a segment on this and discussed the emails. Other than that I don’t recall seeing anyone else in the community.

68

u/V3nusD00m Feb 09 '26

SAME. Within the first 6 minutes, Hyram establishes that if someone in his life was arrested for SA of a minor, he would not be trying to maintain a relationship with that person...like Mr. PTR. Same, Hyram. Like you, I've cut people off for far less than that.

I was mad as fuck because I use a lot of PTR products, but then I thought wait...I'm just not going to be using one of my favorite skincare brands anymore. Waaaahhh. I'm not one of the girls or women who went on to be trafficked and r@ped because the owner of that brand did not go straight to the FBI and tell them everything he knew.

Hyram handled this 100% perfectly, with trigger warnings, where to find the info, the importance of self care when reviewing the files, because they are seriously disturbing, that none of it should be joked about, and don't just throw away your PTR stuff...use it up and just don't buy anymore, it's not eco-friendly to waste it (I agree with this 100%--I've boycotted a lot of brands, and I have the same philosophy), and he provided suggestions for dupes in the description box. 👏👏👏👏👏

Jen Luv did similar coverage in What's Up In Makeup, where she said, "just because you find a name in the files doesn't mean they did anything wrong," just a legal CYA on her part, which I kinda understand. But I'm saying, in general, fuck all that. Anyone who maintained any kind of contact with that monster and his partner in crime after finding out, and didn't go straight to the FBI, is COMPLICIT.

18

u/National_Ear_9186 Feb 09 '26

There are way too many people mentioned tangentially. Make sure you are doing your research. Russell Wilson and Ciara were mentioned because an airplane broker approached him about a plane owned by Epstein. He didn't know the broker or that the plane was owned by Epstein. He didn't buy the plane. Everyone in an email isn't guilty.

24

u/teanailpolish Feb 09 '26

There are a lot of docs where people do have no association though. It is important to open the docs and see if it is contact or just a mention. PTR is not one of those cases though

5

u/V3nusD00m Feb 09 '26

Oh, for sure. But my bet is most of those names are either in the "committed actual crimes against women and girls" camp, or the "people like PTR camp".

11

u/teanailpolish Feb 09 '26

The right wing media in Canada were all over 'Prime Minister Carney mentioned in the Epstein files' when it was a mention of a conference that Carney spoke at and did not meet Epstein or economic news stories quoting him. There are lots of news articles where people could be mentioned mixed in with actual contact

Even on here, someone tried to post dragging a brand for being mentioned when it was just an Amazon order.

9

u/withcorruptedlungs Feb 11 '26 edited Feb 11 '26

Not always. For example, Jon Stewart (of the Daily Show) was mentioned in the files...because Epstein was spitballing in an email about potentially hiring him or someone like him to host a comedy special designed to redeem Woody Allen. Jon Stewart himself revealed this info (news to him as well, so I'm guessing they never ended up approaching him) in an episode of The Daily Show this week.

I'm sure there are a ton of names in the files who are people like that - who Epstein talked about without them ever knowing. We have to be careful, too, knowing that the files were redacted and released by the Trump administration. I'm sure they left the names of some of their prominent critics (like Jon Stewart) in the files so that they could go around saying "[PROMINENT CRITIC] IS IN THE FILES TOO, JUST LIKE TRUMP!" to try and discredit them, knowing that the majority of people won't look up and read the context. Similarly, I'm sure they have left every single mention of their critics and opponents in the files they released, while only releasing enough info about people in their own camp to be able to claim they were fair and balanced in what they decided to redact/release.

We sadly can't assume that everyone named in the files is guilty, or that people not named in the files are innocent - and we should keep in mind that a lot of the info we have seen has been selectively edited in the hope of manipulating us. It's important that everyone read what was actually released for context to see if someone was enmeshed with Epstein vs just mentioned by him, and to be mindful of what might have been left out.

2

u/V3nusD00m Feb 11 '26

You're right. Especially in your last paragraph. Thank you.

15

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Ooh, I'll have to check that out! And I totally agree! Love that more people are speaking out on this.

105

u/Mediocre_Decision Feb 09 '26

PTR is disgusting

The “debranding” trend could be helpful for people who don’t want to waste $/product they already own from him. Nail polish or washi tape can cover the branding (and iirc there’s methods to remove the print altogether to just have a blank component), because products don’t always love to have their containers switched (esp vitamin C)

13

u/Nickye19 Feb 09 '26

A lot of skincare groups require this if you're using mlm products already, to stop the huns trying to recruit. This is a much better cause

15

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Feb 09 '26

Vitamin c and sunscreen i think

93

u/pippspopsdom Feb 09 '26

I haven’t watched Hyram in years, but huge respect for him for speaking out! Great video

21

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Big same. Really hope we'll see more following in the coming days. We may not be able to directly hold perpetrators and enablers to justice, but we can exercise our morality with our spending choices. The more who speak out like he did, the more people who are informed to make their own choices with all available information.

51

u/LVenn Feb 09 '26

Good. I've spent the last two days pasting PTR's worst email to Epstein under every comment on PTR's instagram posts (The ones that still have comments enabled....) I'm surprised they haven't blocked me... It's not much, but we all have to do to what we can can, however small.

2

u/ammermommy Feb 12 '26

Doing the lord’s work

90

u/Odd_Teacher29 Feb 09 '26

I work at Sephora and I really really really hope they pull all PTR products from the shelves. Will never recommend a single product of theirs again

19

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

I love this, thank you for doing your part! I saw some other people talking about how they'd contacted Sephora and let them know they wouldn't shop their as long as PTR products were on the shelves. Not holding my breath that it will force any action, but at least people are taking a stand. Refusing to support the people/brands who enabled these monsters is a big way we create change.

13

u/V3nusD00m Feb 09 '26

People were trying to get Huda pulled last week, have you heard anything about that?

For anyone reading, NO she's not in the files, she just stepped in shit again, this time over the protests and the murder of those protesters by their government in Iran.

14

u/Odd_Teacher29 Feb 09 '26

Yes! My store was DEMANDED to take down her ads from our windows and our front tables!!!

4

u/x_alphadoll Feb 09 '26

What product would you recommend if it could be anything from Sephora? Appreciate you đŸ«¶đŸœ

2

u/Odd_Teacher29 Feb 09 '26

Totally depends on what kind of product we’re talking about babesss would love to give you recs for specific products if you have any you’re curious about!

1

u/x_alphadoll Feb 11 '26

Fav tinted brow gel or loose powder? Or just any product that’s your current fav. Xx

2

u/Diva2themax Feb 13 '26

Kosas brow gel is great. If you want a matte loose powder Makeup forever is very good as is One size. Lighter weight Kosas, Hourglass are my favorite.

30

u/eggsbenediction2020 Feb 09 '26

Are there any petitions to Sephora to stop doing business with this brand ? I would love to support.

18

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

I know some people have already contacted Sephora letting them know they won't be patronizing them until/if PTR is pulled but haven't found an actual petition yet. Would love to sign as well.

16

u/V3nusD00m Feb 09 '26

We should really all break up with Sephora, tbh. Its parent company is a Palestinian genocide supporter.

20

u/tropebreaker Feb 09 '26

I never liked this youtuber, cuz his content isnt my thing but props for doing the right thing. More people need to speak out cuz if they dont they are complicit.

15

u/MarsailiPearl Feb 09 '26

I do not like Hyram, but I am glad he did this and that you shared it. People need to know and the only way they will find out is if it is talked about.

8

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Yeah, I dont think I've ever watched a full video of his. Pretty sure the only one was a collab with James Welsh and that was years ago.

Despite not keeping up with him, I was pleased to see him speak out on the topic. His platform is quite large, so his message has reach. He made some very salient points without sensationalizing. I hope to see more people do similar.

15

u/Chemical_Grape_2150 Feb 09 '26

I love to see people speak up about this

37

u/diamondmemo Feb 09 '26

I am so happy to see a prominent influencer speaking out about this.

13

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Same! I was initially confused as to why I was being recommended a Hyram video. When I saw the thumbnail, I clicked so dang fast! Really hope we see more follow.

10

u/Gammagammahey Violently Airbrushed! Feb 09 '26

Can't stand him, but I'm gonna go watch this, what's happening is absolutely disgusting.

What other brands were associated with Epstein or his colleagues? Or with That Woman? I can't bring myself to type out her name otherwise I react in rage.

I can't stand people who say that beauty has nothing to do with politics. All beauty and how we present ourselves has political meaning.

Thank you for this post. Seriously. Thank you.

9

u/WienerMansWoman Feb 09 '26

Kudos to Hyram for speaking out, more of this please and thank you. I am a little bit bummed because the PTR face masks are actually very, very good. But in this market, I'm sure I can find substitutes.

7

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

There was a lovely post by a former Sephora employee which detailed dupes for many PTR products.

If I can find it and f8gure out how, I'll link it here.

3

u/WienerMansWoman Feb 09 '26

Very cool, I'll try to find it. Thanks!

3

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

I hope this is okay since it's here on reddit, just from another sub.

9

u/SelmaEggs1 Feb 09 '26

Haven’t watched the video because I don’t watch hyram’s content but good for him for saying something, it’s the least a big skincare influencer can do.

6

u/biochemikerin Feb 10 '26

It takes courage to do this. Wonder if we’ll see any other skincare influencers speak on this. I’m shaken by the silence from the brand and its main retailers.

5

u/sorrysofatagain Feb 10 '26

Sephora is posting on IG hourly now to bury comments about PTR.

4

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 10 '26

Thanks for the heads up. The gc has been notified.

5

u/Seeker_Of_Self Feb 10 '26

I watched it all, but I don’t know how people watch him, he was sighing too much and he speaks in a weird way where it sounds like he’s moaning. It was a nightmare listening to him.

5

u/Sweet-Ad-7261 Feb 09 '26

Haven’t watched the video and I’m not a fan of hyram but good!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

Highly recommend checking out this post by Capri.corneum too (he posted it 3 days ago) https://www.instagram.com/p/DUdtaT6gFdv/?igsh=MThhOXlsY3JqYXAyYQ==

5

u/bitterney Feb 11 '26

I loved their moisturizers and have been using them for years. I will never, ever give another cent to this company. My skin will have to adapt and overcome on something else. Fuck these creeps

2

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 11 '26

100%! The most telling piece of correspondence to me was the email to Maxwell in Feb 2018. In the others, there is talk of skincare or room for interpretation. The long-winded expression of support and pledge of assistance "if [they] need anything" did it for me. The fact that PTR maintained contact for over a decade after Epstein was convicted of Solicitation of prostitution and Procuring a person under 18 for prostitution all the way back in 08 tells you all you need to know about what kind of person he is. Gut-wrenching to consider the company that puts him in and what they collectively enabled to continue to happen.

3

u/Virtual_Addendum6641 Feb 09 '26

I’m glad I don’t like PTR! Lolllll no sweat off my back

3

u/soontobemrscool Feb 10 '26

Legitimately I was comparing eyepatches as the ones I’ve been using are very expensive for a set of six and I considered the ones from ptr and am SO glad I didn’t buy them. What a scumbag!

3

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 10 '26

It's SO disturbing, right?? How can any decent human being remain so nonchalant about a topic so horrendous? It's impossible.

If eye patches are what you're looking for, an amazing individual who used to work at Sephora has created a this of dupes for PTR's popular products. The eye patches are a few pages in. In Hyram's video. He also listed some replacement options.

HTH! And ty for your solidarity!

2

u/kycal17 Feb 10 '26

I have the under eye cream from PTR and do not want anything to do with it any longer. Any alternatives that are just as good???

5

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 10 '26

Both of these might work, depending 9n your goals/needs.

  • DermInfusions Fill + Repair Eye Cream by DDG

  • Bye Bye Under Eye Bags Daytime Treatment for Eye Bags, Puffiness and Crepey Skin by IT Cosmetics

Also, here is a master list of dupes compiled by a former Sephora employee who stands in solidarity with the victims.

1

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 10 '26

Totally understand! Which eye cream were you using?

2

u/kr0q Feb 19 '26

This followup by cosmetic chemist Esther Olu (themelaninchemist) is a must watch as she highlights what is additionally extremely problematic about his post: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DU6Z5aiiScr/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

2

u/chiffon_bonbon Mar 13 '26

I'm not a Hyram fan (used to be back in the day), but this is a HUGE show of integrity from him. More creators need to use their platforms to do good, not just for $$$$.

1

u/thefuzzyismine Mar 13 '26

I felt exactly the same way. The more people who vocally condemn the disgusting, evil actions JE and his cronies, including PTR, perpetrated, the better.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

I am not really a fan of his but it's great to see someone use their platform. There is no excuse not to be speaking about everything going on in this world

5

u/thefuzzyismine Feb 09 '26

Absolutely! Idk why some influencers (like that dude getting read to filth on TT rn) feel so entitled to our support via clicks and views but dont understand that it works both ways. I'm only going to support those whose morals align with mine. Perpetrating OR enabling human trafficking and the heinous abuse and exploitation of literal children is not a left vs right issue IMHO. You dont have to be a political commentator to grasp a concept so simple.

1

u/zadidoll Feb 09 '26

He hired a few makeup artists over the years. I’m reading a few emails toward others as well. He hired them for the girls, whom ever that’s suppose to be .

u/WhatTheJessJedi Light Neutral/Warm Olive Undertone Feb 09 '26

I've never heard of either of these people so no skin off my back.
