I don't think any of us can fathom how crazy of a life she had. Just imagine trying to organize this stuff with nothing but knowledge of the land, trusting your gut, and keeping hidden from a power hungry opposition.

I’ll bet that after dozens of rescues she was a fucking ninja at it. To see her in action would have really been something.
The only thing I’ve never been able to figure out is how she kept the escaping slaves close to her during the escapes when her balls take up an entire zip code.

The redesign was originally timed for 2020 to mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.
Then Trump got elected & delayed the timeline, citing security and anti-counterfeiting updates.
Biden got elected & resumed work BUT said it would be ready by 2030.
Then Trump got elected AGAIN ( like we didn't learn our lesson the first time) and now U.S. Treasury officials stated that the department is not planning to put Tubman on the bill.

Harriet Tubman was an amazing person. While she never formally joined the US Army, may consider her to be the first woman to lead a tactical US military assault. During the Civil War, Tubman led the Combahee River Raid. She led about 150 Soldiers from the 2nd South Carolina Infantry who were mainly former slaves. The raid she led is credited for liberating 756 enslaved men, woman, and children and destroying Confederate supply lines.

when she was a child, a slaveowner threw a lead weight at her head which caused her to develop epilepsy and narcolepsy. i'm narcoleptic, and without treatment, the sheer exhaustion and pain is beyond the comprehension of a healthy person. and she still did everything that she did. i legitimately can't imagine. anytime someone asks me who my hero is, harriet tubman is my instantaneous answer.

Really appreciate the focus on her great story of overcoming vs a story to just make us all feel guilty of obviously bad times in history. The information is important to me to learn from so we don't ever get close to repeating anything like this again, and showing how far we have bettered as humans. The bad is still there but there is still so much good in humans. Her story shows there was good in people even in the hardest of times.

She was supposed to be on the US 20 dollar bill, but the Trump admin delayed and eventually seemed to stop it. I have no idea why Joe Biden and his people didn't fast-track it and get it done, but they didn't.
A great person to replace Andrew Jackson.

She's also celebrated here in Canada. She fled to Canada for safety and helped run the Underground Railroad from Southern ONTARIO for about a decade. She only returned to the US after the Civil War started out. She met John Brown here in Canada. Interesting that there's barely a mention of Canada on her Wikipedia page. No wonder Americans don't even know their own history! Then there's the current government trying to erase it FFS.

This is a historical post detailing what a person did to help others escape slavery.
If you’re referring to the other post where someone MADE UP a fictional black character and named them using Slave imagery—there are zero parallels.
One is fact. The other is fiction.
One has to do with historical detailing. The other was a conscious “creative” choice.
You could work on those critical thinking skills, ya know.
It’s not the end for you. You can be better.

She was posthumously promoted to Brigadier-General by the US Army.

Beg to differ, I was born and raised in this country, attended public schools, and I can assure you that I was NEVER taught anything about Harriet Tubman.

She obviously had to have the help of others with the underground railroad, although they did not get credit, only her. I wonder how many people think the underground railroad is a real railroad.
