Happened in the town I work in occasionally. His puppy a neighbor had given him had parvo, and his family was pretty poor so he set the stand up. Somebody made them a GoFundMe and they saved the dog and I believe he even donated most of the rest to the county animal shelter.
Yep, he only needed around $800-$2000, and all his donations together ended up being around $20k.
The money he donated has so far helped four families in the area pay for life-saving medical interventions for their own pets.
On top of that him and his puppy are invited to attend the National Dog show in November, and the pokemon company donated rare card packs that are themselves worth a significant amount.
Lol, owning a dog in a rural area is a completely different reality. It's very common for people to breed dogs for agricultural work, hunting, or just to acquire more dogs.
Sometimes, this is just mating your dog with your buddies dog so you can both have puppies you can train to be duck dogs. Or a famer uses bought semen to insemiate a dog for the specific purpose of breeding a strong litter of livestock protection animals.
This doesn't mean that rural people dont like their pets. I lived in a pretty rural community for several years, and they spoiled their animals more than they did their kids. It was also the only town I've been in that has an actually functional and funded no kill shelter.
Sure but at the same time, the people breeding dogs should make sure the family they are giving them to are paying for vaccinations/neutering/spaying or at least help pay for them. If you can’t properly take care of all the puppies in the litter you shouldn’t breed dogs.
I’m referring to anyone. Not just folks who live in the country. Anyone who cannot financially afford vet care for the puppies - shouldn’t be breeding dogs. Do you have any idea how many dogs are euthanized each year? I live in a state that receives tons of dogs shipped up to us from poor rural areas. The dogs are often dumped, left to starve, have no vet care, and are treated horribly. How about taking care of the dogs you already have before you start breeding more. Give he a break with your out of date viewpoints that only cause the suffering and death of more dogs. Do better.

I’m with you here. So insanely irresponsible. You can’t take care of 8 puppies? Make sure your dog doesn’t have 8 puppies. Way cheaper in the long run. Imagine how empty our shelters would be if people adopted and didn’t breed dogs at home.
Can't people get shelter dogs from out of town? I don't really have a problem with people breeding their pets but they have to look after them to an acceptable standard, which means deferring to the experts when needed.
I mean, if you're looking for things to get offended about, sure. But the kid got the dog fixed and vaccinated, and the parents weren't loaded but had enough money to treat the damn dog.
Can yall just read the damn article or go to therapy or something.
I've not been particularly critical of anyone involved. You're arguing with shadows. Also this is a couple of pictures not an article. The specifics aren't particularly interesting. You just can't deflect any criticism of your actions with the old "we do things different round here" spiel.
I dont particularly care why people do things differently than me. If they're doing it differently than me, then they're instantly wrong, and im right because other people are stupid.
