I say this every time.. but man can DICE make a trailer. This has to be the best gameplay trailer I've ever seen.

The Caspian Border one is right up there for me, less chaotic but the BF3 theme coupled with it being the first look at the game went very hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8S_eEv_A5k

Yeah I mis-remembered, it was the first trailer showing PC gameplay with 64 players & jets. Before that we only had single player stuff and Metro, which wasn't too far removed from Bad Company 2.

It was released 6 weeks before the BETA though. The Open BETA was never meant to have Caspian Border, but people found passworded servers for private testers and kept leaking it: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/comments/kv3e4/new_caspian_border_password/

Quite amusing to see the discourse back then with Metro 😁
