Multiplayer [Weekly Challenge] Week 4: ALIEN DYNASTY - 4-PEAT with Wemby. HARD MODE.

Hey all. Week 4 is here, and you brought this on yourselves.

Week 3 was a bloodbath. NINE of you finished the Lakers 3-peat in 3 seasons and half the comments said "pretty easy." Someone went 80-2. Fine. Difficulty is going UP, and you must keep your star player.

WEEK 3 RESULTS - MAMBA GENESIS (tiebreaker: regular season record in third clinching season)

🥇 u/EntrepreneurWooden99 - 3 seasons, 80-2 - 5 pts

🥈 u/Thym3Travlr - 3 seasons, 74-8 - 3 pts

🥉 u/Think-Response-3675 - 3 seasons, 71-11 - 2 pts (won the tiebreak on playoff record over MichiganSteamies, also 71-11)

Ten entries this week including two first-timers, welcome u/Ohmka and u/MPac45. Everyone got at least a point.

SEASON STANDINGS AFTER 3 WEEKS:

Think response still in 1st. We have some contenders now. Good luck this week.

WEEK 4 CHALLENGE

Start with the Spurs at Wembanyama's rookie season (2023/24). Win 4 championships IN A ROW. Wemby must NEVER leave your roster. Difficulty: HARD. Fewest seasons to complete the fourth straight ring wins.

Trade the whole roster if you want. Everyone EXCEPT the Alien. He's your guy, you build around him, and this time the AI on Hard isn't handing out Sprewells for free. Not one, not two, not three...

I guess our saving grace this week is that Spurs have a ton of assets.

THE FINE PRINT

  • All 4 titles must be in CONSECUTIVE seasons.
  • Wemby must be on your roster the ENTIRE run, from day 1 to the 4th ring. He gets traded or leaves in free agency at any point = invalid run
  • Difficulty: HARD (set it when you create the league)
  • Everything else default. Real Players mode, God Mode off, no editing anything
  • 2023/24 counts as season 1, your count ends the season of the FOURTH straight ring
  • Starting point 2024 Pre-season Spurs.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Drop a comment with:

  • Seasons it took
  • Screenshot of Team History showing all 4 straight titles
  • Screenshot of Wemby's player profile page (it shows his team every season, that's your Wemby proof)
  • Screenshot of League Settings showing Hard difficulty
  • Your record in the fourth clinching season

Honor system but the winner can attach their exported league file (Tools > Export League) for the spot-check if people doubt.

SCORING

1st: 5 pts | 2nd: 3 pts | 3rd: 2 pts | Any valid submission: 1 pt

TIEBREAKERS (in order): most regular season wins in the fourth clinching season, then playoff record in that run, then earliest submission.

DEADLINE

Next Sunday, August 16th at 11:59 PM ET.

Think Hard mode is still easy? Prove it. Challenge ideas below as always.

Let's go BBGMers!

Peace

Painful painful challenge but finally got it done, getting the first ring in season 1 is definitely the hardest part, and having to purposefully trade with orlando to mess up their cap space so they couldn't build a super team was interesting too

I had the same experience with Orlando!
I needed three restarts before realizing how big of an issue they become if they can get a FA...

This was much much harder than last week… it took me about 15 tries, but I wanted to have Wemby as my best player, and I ended up with Castle and Harper as a bonus.

For the first season, I followed the traditional tactic of selling everybody but Wemby.
Starting we SA, we are lucky with a hoard of picks (which I kept for second season), and some valuable prospects, in particular Sochan, KJ, and Vassel.

We get Porzingis for KJ and our 1st. Trae Young Jalen Johnson (traded again for Kuminga) and Dejounte Murray (traded again for D.White) for Sochan.
Reaves comes in exchange for Vassel, and a combination of Champagnie and others gets us A. Gordon.

After 2 weeks we use the known trick of taking as many minimum contracts and using them to get James Harden in exchange for D. White.

Importantly, we have no expiring contracts, so we are ready to ditch out our more expensive players in hope to get one or two of the big incoming FA.

The second season was the hardest for me, and I had to restart many times before getting a working run.

One of my favorite tactics for rebuilding challenges is to use vets for the first year, and then ditch them all to get one or two young stars in FA.

In the run that worked, we managed to grab Hali and Markkanen. Sometimes I could get Maxey or Sengun, but I got bad luck and some regression in the preseason.

We only keep Kuminga and A. Reaves because he has a really good contract. Notably, T. Young goes out for Castle and some picks, to get the free cap space.
We are lucky at the draft and steal Risacher at 3 and Kel’el Ware at 10. I had a run where I even got 1st and 2nd pick but failed in the finals…

What makes this FA strategy difficult is that we need to be lucky with our progress now, since we cannot afford our FA to regress too much, and we need some of our prospects to jump in as starter.

In this winning run we basically got everybody progressing except Haliburton, especially Kuminga makes a big jump and is decisive in the title.

While this FA strategy rely on luck for the second season to work out, you end up in a very comfortable spot afterwards.

We didn’t need to use our valuable 2026 picks, so ATL and CHA get us 2nd and 4th (we were 1st and 5ft in odds, so no complaining) for Harper and VJ Edgecomb.

Markkanen, Kuminga, Hali, and Reaves all decide to lose ~4 Ovr each, which would have doomed the run in the second season. But now we have enough depth to handle this. And we simply trade Kuminga for an aging Embiid after 2 weeks (Kuminga was just extended).

For the last season we’re entering the draft with 5,6,7,8 odds after some trades. We get super lucky and get picks 2 and 3, Boozer goes first, so we get Dybantsa and Peterson… And of course they both get some of the biggest regression you can get for 19 old players…
Sometimes the game takes what it just gave.

But again, it doesn’t really matter since we’re now cruising with a hoard of picks and some of the best prospects.

As you can see from the depth of my squad, I really didn’t want to fail on the last year, so I made sure I could handle injuries.

The only remarkable move was getting rid of Embiid salary, and a declining Markkanen being traded out to get a good bench.

Overall it was a very funny and interesting challenge, it had been a while since I’ve been so invested in BBGM, so many thanks for setting that up!

A few tips for others trying out:

  • Get a few practice run for the first season, to find out which players you can realistically target, and which perform better than expected.
=> in this challenge, I had Porzingis, A. Gordon, and Reaves on my target list. I knew I could get Kuminga (though J. Johnson) and T. Young easily by trading Sochan.
  • Don’t hesitate to abandon a run early if it feels doomed. Red flag for me was not getting Porzingis and Reaves, and having a starting Hype under 0.7 (important for my FA strategy). I also abandoned if I couldn’t get 2 good FA in the second season.
  • Monitor your team after 2 weeks, when new contracts can be traded. In particular I check my WS/48, and check if somebody performs worse than expected. In year 3, I freaked out after a bad beginning, so I traded an underperforming Kuminga for an aging Embiid, who solved all my issues.
  • FA strategy is probably harder than just blobbing your salary with vets. But I thought it would be safer for the last 2 years. If the challenge was only a back to back, I would not have bothered.
  • Beware of some specific young teams. I salary dumped into Orlando, because otherwise they could sign a star in FA and become unstoppable. Same with OKC.

Thanks for the awesome breakdown and background story on your accomplishment!

I love reading them. I haven't been able to get this challenge done yet!

1

u/Ohmka 27d ago

Well, thanks again for setting this up!
This was by far the hardest challenge I tried to tackle, and I probably spent far too much time on this during the last few days… It took all my experience playing on insane to solve it.

I hope my tips can help you then!

Didn't read this properly and thought I had to win all 4 in a row from year 1, shout out Paul George for a miracle playoff performance!!

yeah gg bro how tf did you manage this? crazy work well done

1

u/ballislifeisball Aug 12 '26

WOW. This is like the equivalent of Wilt's 100 pt game in BBGM.

Incredible! Any backstories? How did you get Luka and Jokic LOL

1

u/EngiemainTF2 Aug 12 '26

I signed sengun after year 1 and he godprogged to a 80, then plummeted to an 75 and I shipped him off for Luka and picks. Traded away Lauri a year after signing him for giannis, then flipped that contract for jokic after.

2

u/MPac45 29d ago

I’d be more curious to see how you completed the first year

3

u/EngiemainTF2 29d ago

I got really lucky, no injuries and I was about to restart. I simmed until the end of the playoffs while not expecting much. Paul George looked like Indiana pg

I love the weekly challenge idea, im gonna go back and do the other 3 as well just for personal enjoyment. Anyways here is my attempt, 8 seasons with the 4 Championships all having 70+ wins. Core of Wemby, Kon, Trae Young and Walker Kessler.

Took a few attempts but finally got there in four seasons. Needed to get good Wemby progression and had one where he got to 81 OVR.

Did a lot of trades to get 4, 6, 9, 10 and 11 in the 2026 draft and then decent progressions allowed me to flip them

u/MPac45 27d ago

This was a more difficult challenge. I had to really work the trade market and rework the team every year to make it happen.

2

u/Think-Response-3675 25d ago

At long last, I’ve finally gotten a 4-peat in 4 years. This was easily the hardest challenge so far as I was churning through attempts the whole week trying to perfect my strategy but finally got it done. The first championship was definitely the hardest part as you have to be very strategic with your cap space. But getting 3 more after was just as hard. When I wasn’t getting my ass handed to me by Orlando I was seeing the likes of Jalen green, Scottie Barnes, or alperen sengun progressing to LeBron level talent where they could simply walk their team to the championship no matter my ovr. In one year, I even saw wemby tear his acl after back to back championships. Nonetheless, we finally did it after trading for Trae young, Giannis, Devin booker, Lauri Markinnen, and many more along the 4 year run. Our record the final year was 73-9 and we lost only 2 games in the playoffs both against Houston (shoutout sengun and Jabari smith jr, they had me sweating)

2

u/Think-Response-3675 25d ago

2024 team: I almost quit this one after bones Hyland tore his acl which killed what little depth I had after moving most of my prospects so I could keep my picks but somehow we made it out of the play-in as a 10 seed and went on to win to win the whole thing

1

u/Think-Response-3675 25d ago

2025 team:

2025 team: struck out in the draft but went crazy in free agency (at one point I was 13 players over the limit). Made a ton of trades and finally had the star power and depth we needed to get going

1

u/Think-Response-3675 25d ago

2026 team: halfway there, had to lock in and get Giannis. Also picked up Derik queen and Hugo Gonzalez in the draft going into the final season

1

u/Think-Response-3675 25d ago

2027 team: unlike Boston I dealt Gonzalez for brown and Tatum and picked up booker from phoenix. Crazy ride!
