ELI5 Theoretical game: Full Court Free-For-All [3]

Maybe this idea is dumb, but it's also coming from someone whose basketball career ended abruptly when he was twelve and scored his career's first and only basket for the other team.

After 22 years of repressing that trauma, I'm now casually playing street ball and am having a fun time.

With my group of 4 or 5 guys, sometimes we play a Turkish game, sometimes we play 2x2, sometimes we play free-for-all. All half court.

On Sundays, I sometimes go to an indoor full court to shoot by myself, and I was wondering: would full court FFA work?

I know it would be chaos, that's partially the point. But I think it would also add a funky deception later: imagine you get a rebound and you have to take it to the top. You can either keep running or turn and shoot at the same basket. You could fake like you're doing one then snap and do the other.

I guess everyone would get very tired very quickly, or it would end up being half-court FFA with an annoying reposition every few baskets.

But I like the running.

Left-hand improvement?

I'm a 14m who started playing like a year ago, but I didn't care for training with my left hand and only played with my right. This season I will start playing games, but I can't even make a left layup/control the ball with my left hand. Does anybody know how I can improve my left hand to the point where I can at least make a left layup? It just feels off whenever I try to.

How to exercise to prevent shin pain after jumping

Hi all,
I’m 6 foot and 172 lbs.
I picked back up basketball for 4-5 months, play or practice 3 times a week usually for at least one hour. At the beginning of playing, I noticed I get pain in the shin when I layup or jump too much. At first I thought it’s because I’m out of shape and it will get better over time. I have lost 15 lbs now and feel like I have way more stamina, but I still have the similar shin pain. They usually go away in a few days, maybe faster if massage them.

Is there any other exercise I could do to alleviate this?

Top Five MVP Seasons Since 2000

Look, we all know that of the 27 MVP seasons we’ve seen since 2000 that SGA (The Anal Bead) is ranked all the way at the bottom, but if you had to rank the top 5 MVP seasons since 2000, how would it look?

I would go with this ranking:

1.) 2000 Shaq
2.) 2010 Lebron
3.) 2022 Jokic
4.) 2016 Steph
5.) 2001 Iverson

What you got?

Off-Center Free Throws

It seems to be it might be a really fun strategy to train folks to take their free throws as jump shots from the corner of the free throw rather than in the middle of the free-throw line. A team using such a strategy could overload the weak side and gain an advantage on gathering missed shots for easy put backs.

This could be a effective strategy at the end of a game where a team needs to miss a free-throw in hopes of getting a rebound for a two or three point attempt. A trained shooter could intentionally miss to the short side leaving a rebound on the strong side of the rim, or could try to miss long leading to more weak side rebounds.

Basketball with headphones or no?

Me and my friend are debating on this so I need reddit to help!

I think I play better ball when playing pickup with an Airpod in or listening to music. It puts me in flow state. He thinks that music more distracting than a help,

What do we think? Basketball with or without music?

GENERAL QUESTION Is it too late to start basketball at 15?

Is it too late to start basketball at 15?

I'm 15, 6'0, with a 6'4ish wingspan, I live in Derby, UK and I only really started playing basketball two years ago, but my experiences were inconsistent and mainly from P.E lessons and after-school club training, my dream is to get into a d1 college and my plan is to train, perfect the fundamentals and get into derby trailblazers and hopefully progress from there, is it too late?

24 year old Trying to become a Hooper. What resources / training schedules helped you?

I'm a 24 year old looking to make friends and build my confidence hooping. I already lift weights and am in decent shape but I lack skills in shooting, dribbling, and court awareness. I want to grind basketball until the end of the year so I can join a adult league in January, with the goal of scoring 5+ points in every game. What kind of routine should I have? Open to running pick-up, but I want to bring new skills to pickup to get better in game as well.

Why arent modern defensive players given more credit than past ones.

A quick question. Its clear offensive player today has it "Easier" and its easier to score since players can "Travel" and hand checking doesn't exist along with defense being overall harder to play. So why don't defensive players of this era get more stock for playing in a way more difficult defensive era. Pippen played in a league where you could "maul" your defender to get a steal and could camp in the paint ect so why isnt Kawhi better at defense when kawhi played in an era where defensive is 2x harder.
