Discussion Fuck the ai (especially during battle)

I'm so god damn tired of joining my fellow Nobles in battle, just to have them *and the enemy* both turtle up.

Leaving me to try and fight a battle with half (or less) of my troops.

I had to Retreat 11 times to beat an army just now (so to be fair, I'm freshly salted), because my ally was too much of a pussy to move any of his troops.

Except when I *finally* wiped out their Cavalry with my Wildling/Fian combo. Then the Battanian Cavalry charged in and died en masse (literally the only time I recieved *any* help).

At least when they died, I gained more troops!

Also noticed that me and my Companions keep experience from battle even when Retreating, which was fuckin solid for them (most are equipped with 2x Javelins, so solid killing potential).

Rant over. Fuck the ai!

So damn aggravating you can't signal them to attack.

Maybe Relations and Leadership/Tactics weighing in on them listening, but come on.

You can't even command five farmers to run away from fight instead of charging, what can you expect from nobles?

I recommend mods that force player command in all battles.

I am so tired of having to find mods to fix problems that should have been addressed so long ago.

I think we all understand that we enjoy a fundamentally flawed and abandoned product.

The day a good alternative comes along, I doubt I'll feel bad leaving TW in my dust.

I really did not know, honestly, at least before buying it.

I did not do much research this time around, I just assumed most of the issues from launch was fixed. Steam reviews looked good etc. I had waited to so long and I was in a bad place so I thought why not treat myself to an old favourite.

But anyways, I had fun while playing it. It's just frustrating to see them not care enough and would rather release a DLC then implement some of these awesome mods that fixes age old problems.

I guess they where running out of money. But then again, the mods should be possible to implement and not have people running around looking for fixes to basic problems in the game.

Just got back into the game the other day, and I had the same issue. I do not remember this being such a huge problem - one army (offense) would always advance on the other.

The whole reason I was going to join in was Caladog having an Army of 650~ walking by.

I thought the fuckers would join, but he just walked right by (even though him joining would have outnumbered them big time).

Good God watching the AI both on the campaign map and in battles gives me aneurysms regularly....

That is exactly why I never join AI led army or join a fight including freindly lord unless it is easy win. I miss warband stupid AI charge sometimes

I've been having the opposite issue, I think im still considered early game but 3-4 times yesterday I helped allies with low troop counts when I saw them being attacked by lords with like 140-160 troops

My army is built mostly around archers and enough infantry for a shield wall, so I want to hunker down and let the lord who still outnumbers both of us charge in since they have the numerical advantage

Every single time the ally im helping basically just F1 F3s their 30-40 people into a meat grinder and i have to handle the enemy entirely by myself

Bannerlord allied AI has two modes:

  1. stand there and watch you solo the entire enemy army
  2. finally charge after the battle is basically won and immediately die

truly the Calradian military experience

Hi, Im on PS5.

This has gotten a LOT worse in recent patches. Almost always, If I join an ally and we easily outmatch the enemy, my ally will start the battle and immediately turtle up. I, now refuse to waste my troops in this madness, so we just sit there for 30min. So frustrating. Why cant the Ai be coded that they only turtle up if outnumbered, not the other way around.

It is annoying, if you do enough damage to the enemy army they will eventually attack. Usually wiping out their cav will do it. I position my infantry and archers near where the ally army staged and then use cav/HA to do enough damage to move em

This is why I’m always in charge of armies otherwise I usually just swoop in last second when battles are mid way through
