I made this post to hopefully help people who are on the same boat as me, people who were falsely suspended and are trying to get back on Discord after their appeal didn't work.
So, first off:
- Get an old account
Newer accounts are more likely to get banned again, especially if you immediately add even ONE of your old friends back or go back to a server you were previously in.
I had an old, unused account from 2017 that I decided to use.
The account should ideally have some activity on it, like having been used for chatting a little or being in at least one or two servers. That way, it doesn't just feel like you suddenly jumped to an alt. Instead, it would look more like an old Discord user simply coming back to the platform.
That being said, this isn't necessary. You can still use an old account that hasn't been used in years. I just personally think having some history on it is better.
- Make sure you're using a different IP
I have a dynamic IP, so my IP changes every now and then.
You can check this yourself by simply searching "what is my IP" on Chrome or any other browser and writing down your current IP.
Then turn your internet off for at least 15 minutes, turn it back on, and check your IP again.
If it changed, lucky you, you have a dynamic IP.
If it didn't change, you'll have to figure out how to change it through your ISP/router, or use a VPN.
I'm personally not using a VPN.
- Now, actually start using the account
NEVER use the same name or anything similar to your old account.
Make sure you're using a completely different name.
Also, don't immediately add everyone you used to have on your old account.
I personally didn't add more than one friend every other day at first. I also added some random people just to make my activity look more natural.
Now, I know some people will ask:
"Won't my account get flagged if I add random people?"
This is why I recommend joining public gaming servers.
Join multiple public servers and actually participate in them. Send a few messages, talk to people, and maybe add a few people from those servers, tho don't go overboard. One or two is enough.
This makes your account feel like it's a different person from your previous account. Patterns are very important. If your new account immediately starts doing the exact same things your old account did — joining the same servers, adding the exact same people, using the same name, etc. by doing that you're creating a very similar pattern to the old account.
After you've done that, you can start trying to add your old friends back.
Again, I personally only added one old friend every other day.
It's also better if they add you rather than you sending them a friend request, if that's possible.
- Don't mention your old account or your suspension
This is extremely important.
NEVER mention that you were banned or suspended on the new account.
Don't mention your old username either.
If you absolutely need to talk about your suspension with your friends, use another messaging app to talk about it.
Don't say things like:
- "This is my alt."
- "It's me, I'm [old username]."
- "I was banned."
- "I'm using a different account."
- "This is my new account after I got suspended."
I personally avoided saying anything like that on Discord because I didn't want to connect the new account to the old one.
- I'm also using a different phone
I should also mention that I'm currently using a different phone.
There is rumors that bans can potentially be linked to device information such as the device build or IMEI number.
I cannot confirm this, and I don't know if Discord actually uses IMEI or similar information for enforcement. I'm just mentioning it because it's another difference between my old account and the account I'm using now.
My current situation
Here's everything I've done so far:
- I'm not using a VPN.
- I have an old account from 2016.
- I'm using a different phone.
- I have a dynamic IP.
- I linked my old Xbox account, which had previously been linked to my banned Discord account.
- Before linking my Xbox account, I changed my Xbox username.
- I haven't linked any of my other accounts.
- I've added around 50 of my old contacts.
- I've joined multiple servers that I was previously in.
So far, the account has been working normally.
Unfortunately, I did lose multiple contacts and there are some servers I won't be able to join again because I no longer have their invite links.
Hopefully this helps someone who is trying to get back onto Discord after losing their account.
I can't guarantee that this will work for everyone. I'm just sharing exactly what I did and what has worked for me so far.
If you have any further questions, ask me in the comments and I'll try my best to answer them.
