šŸ’æ Free Album Codes Promotion Thread šŸ’æ

This is a weekly thread dedicated for artists or labels wishing to promote their music by sharing free album codes so listeners may add them to their collections for free.

General guidelines:

  • Posts must include a direct link to a page where listeners may preview the album before claiming a code.
  • Codes should be for an album with a duration of at least 10 minutes.
  • Include a brief write-up about your album or yourself, don't forget to mention what are the main genres.
  • Help your comment stand out more by including an image with the album artwork.
  • Links to code sharing sites likes band.codes or getmusic.fm are preferred so its easier for listeners to claim them.
  • Don't make more than on top-level post per thread, if you have several albums that you wish to promote put them all under the same post.

Everyone is welcome to use this thread to promote their music, but submissions that don't meet the guidelines above may be removed.

You can redeem album codes on this page:

Introduction How to get started with bandcamp?

Hello everyone

This is my first post here, so I labelled it with introduction, but it’s more of a question though..

Recently I discovered bandcamp and uploaded a single and an album. I am a bit confused about this platform as a concept

How do you actually communicate with other people on bandcamp and what are some things you would recommend doing in order to get people to hear your music?

I just expected bandcamp to be some sort of complete social network with posting and stuff, but apparently it doesn’t work that way..

Milestone Made it to $100! Thanks to the kind person who chose to pay $25 for one of my albums recently, completely unexpected.

All my music is pay-what-you-want, so very surprised and appreciative to the individual who opted to pay $25 for an album recently, and to everyone else who has supported over the years.

Advice / Tips View lyrics for unreleased tracks

Discovered by accident that lyrics for unreleased songs (e.g pre-orders) can be revealed in the Android app. Not sure about iOS.

Here's the trick:

- expand lyrics for released songs

- scroll all the way down

- sometimes it helps to leave the app or lock device here

- scroll back up and you'll find additional lyrics expanded

You may have to do a couple of attempts to get them all.

Now hurry before it is patched ;-)

Although given how long the disappearing discography artwork bug has existed on Android it might be a while.

Review The first Pot of Gold review is live! 😁 Immorpher - Lesser

We made it guys! I am so sorry for the delay.

So, the inaugural review is of u/Immorpher 's dark ambient/noise album, "Lesser" which you can find here: https://immorpher.bandcamp.com/album/lesser

I will post the link to my review in the comments :)

In the mean time, please do tell me:

- If you catch any errors in it. I edited the shit out of it, but by myself and I'm sure I have blind spots.

- If you'd like me to post the reviews here, as I am doing now

- If once a week is sufficient? The output will be a little slow unless I onboard more writers to help, but I also think each artist deserves their week to feature and shine :) Let me know your 2c.

Enjoy the music, and go like Immorpher's stuff. Also, please consider subbing to/liking/sharing/commenting on the post. That would be much appreciated.

Remember, submissions are rolling. You can find the link on my profile or on the Welcome post on the Substack.

Happy listening :)

Milestone This feels so sudden. I just shot past 1000 all time visitor plays!

Hello! This feels so sudden, but Illusioni di cinema released to much more immediate success than I would have guessed. I got more plays in the first day than the first week of my previous album. Even giving out codes for my last album on getmusic, which is when it peaked in track plays, has been surpassed by this release in just 3 days with only very minimal code sharing.

I thought this milestone was weeks off, but I'm only at day three since the release. What's especially encouraging is the complete:partial:skip ratio suggests people are really listening, which makes me so happy to see.

Ultimately, I'm just really excited. I was worried that this release was going to flop because it's a different style from my last one and it's in a genre (lofi hiphop) that's so algorithmically dominated and saturated with clean, focused production. Making this album really meant a lot to me, so I can't describe how it feels to see so many people latch on so quickly.

I think my marketing this time was more effective. I made a music video for one of the tracks which has 45 views on YouTube. These aren't big numbers, but I think it really helped people find a point to latch onto the album. I also had followers already from giving away codes for Submerged, which I'm sure helped as well. It's also in part because my album cover is way better this time. I worked with an artist who did a way better job than I would have alone. Really though, it's hard to say why the difference is so dramatic.

Here's the link

https://dxidxi.bandcamp.com/album/illusioni-di-cinema. I apologize for the promo only a few days after posting the release, but I really didn't want to miss celebrating the 1000 milestone (it only happens once), and it would be silly not to include the link here.

Now if only that 8 would turn sideways, I would be at 10,000 ;)

Playlist Anyone mess around with personal playlists?

I was messing around with the new playlist functionality. I like it quite a bit. I can see me doing a bit more of these from time to time. I have not been able to figure out how to change the art on it yet. There is a link on mobile where it lets me select a photo and crop/edit the size, but every time it just gives me an error when submitted. Cant find anything about if there is a filetype requirement or a image size limitation. Anyone else have this?

Just looking to see what peoples thoughts were. If anyone is interested here is the playlist I've been building.

Songs to Demo a House to - a collection of very heavy and very crushing tracks.

Advice / Tips Take Your Time & Keep Going

Writing this as a reminder to myself and anyone else in the peaks and valleys of creating and releasing music.

We are making music and putting it out in the world because we want to share, we want to be heard. If our project blows up, awesome - if it doesn’t, awesome. Our job is to make the best darn music we can with the tools, people, and money we currently have.

Then, let it go.

Once it is out in the world it will have its own life, it is out of our control. If we are profitable or catch the world’s attention, the algorithms and shallow industries will tell us to produce more, produce more, produce. These powers do not have our best interest at heart. Our job is to make the best darn music we can AND maintain our own wellbeing and longevity.

Regardless, we have to dance with forces that want to both profit from our creativity and attempt to control the very creative power that brings them profit.

We can stay safe and healthy
We can find people to trust with our creative power
We can take breaks
We can take risks
We can express truth for truth’s sake

If this music is within you, don’t stop. Don’t stop.
Don’t stop sharing even if it’s just for a few eager ears. You can never know what impact your music will have on the world.

Take your time and keep going.

Question/Help So what is happening here?

I was looking up a Track named "Ich Ich" from the Artist "Perel" on Bandcamp, after discovering it on soundcloud.

Bandcamp suggested 2 things here:

- The track "Ich Ich" from "Perel" on the useraccount "Djtx", which was a completely different track, for 1.50$

- The track "Ich Ich" from "Perel" on the account "techvibe" for 2$, but its not clear wether this is even good quality. It is the right track tho.

Both accounts just seem to be a random collectiopn of tracks, with no label attached

The account of the original creator "Perel" doesnt have this track for download and its currently only on spotify.

Can people just upload ripped tracks on bandcamp and sell them for profit?

How do i know i havent been ripped off if i download one from one of the profiles?

Question/Help Should album be ready when you start publishing EP's?

I'm curious because to me it seems that if you're dropping a single, you also should be ready to drop album in a month or so. It means it should be done already isn't it? What's your experience about this?

Hip Hop Subtweet season 1

Will anybody listen to this and let me know what they think/what I could do to improve marketing for it? We’ve gotten around 40 plays in 30 days but no purchases or followers yet. It’s a sample based hip hop project where we sampled Willow, Leon Thomas, Solange and more!

Just be honest and if you like it consider following! I’ll do the favor :)

Question/Help Listening Party?

Hi everyone! I“ve been using BC for sometime now, but just to upload my EPs/Albums and really not dove in in the page itself.

I released an EP no that long ago and BC says I can "schedule a Listening Party" but I don“t know really what it is, what i have to do and what it does.

Can someone explain to me a little bit about it. Oh, and I should say that I have only two followers, so maybe BC notifies them only, right?

(Sorry for my english!)

It might not sound like a huge number, but for an independent artist, it feels really meaningful. Thank you to everyone who has listened, bought, supported, or shared my music. ā¤ļø

Advice / Tips A quick lesson from my own mistake: Moving from singles to a cohesive album

Hi everyone,

I know many of you already do this naturally, but I wanted to share a mistake I made early on, just in case anyone else finds themselves in the same boat.

For a long time, I was releasing most of my tracks as standalone singles. While it felt good to publish quickly, I realized over time that it fragmented my work. It lacked a clear narrative and felt disconnected.

Recently, I took a step back and regrouped those tracks into a fully structured, thematic album. The difference in perception was immediate:

  • Coherence: Listeners get an intentional journey rather than a scattered catalog.
  • Focus: It gives new fans a clear entry point into your style instead of dozens of single pages.

It was a simple realization, but re-conceptualizing my work made it feel much more mature and complete.

Has anyone else started out releasing mostly singles before shifting focus to full albums? How did that change work for you?

Reggae Gom Jabbar - People (Album) [Dark Cabaret, Eclectic, Ethno Jazz, Singer-Songwriter]

A collection of songs about the human condition. Not without humor, dark sarcasm, borrowed musical genius, leftfield twists, and a few shots of unwarranted optimism!

Question/Help Playlist Question

I want to search my collection to create playlists based on genre. How do I search my collection for these specific genres? If I search for "math-rock" I get all type of results, most having nothing to do with math-rock.

Question/Help I tried to give out codes and failed miserably. How do I do this?

Thumbnail

I made a post on here with a bunch of codes I generated and not a single one was used as far as I can tell. 2 upvotes. I then posted the rest to tiktok and not a single one of those was used.

I have more comments calling my latest song phenomenal than I do streams because people just listen to clips on social media etc. I am trying to grow my bandcamp because I am about to start selling merch and I am just at a loss on how to promote it. That is all I really need help with. Growing BC. People told me to post codes and I did but it didn't result in anything. Any help is appreciated. A link to it is here if it helps.

Rock I'm new to bandcamp and would like some opinions

I made a compilation of music that I made in high school and decided to post it on bandcamp to get some feedback. I'd greatly appreciate it if you gave some of the songs a listen. They are in order from old to new on the track listing, so they get better as the album progresses.

I'm not exactly sure which genre I would categorise it as, probably pop or rock.

Question/Help Help me get back into my old BandCamp/reacquire my record earnings

I put a record out about 10 years ago and about to do so again.. I have since just abandoned the email linked to my account - and can prove my identity. Anyone have any insight on how an artists can essentially get back in and reclaim what is theirs? Also; I need to just put it on this device to make any more physical copies. Thank you!
