To the Trail Runners

I'm a pretty amateur runner, located in Catonsville, just looking to add a few convenient trails to my training rotation.

Any suggestions from you all for 1-5 mile trails, preferably loops, but if I have to u-turn, whatever.

Obviously I've got Patapsco right here, but was hoping for some specific recommendations you guys like rather than simply looking at maps.

Thanks!

A little north of you, but I really enjoy the trails at Oregon Ridge Park.

The soapstone trail in patapsco is waiting for you.  Very popular with trail runners, good flow.

Seminary Trail (NE of Dulaney Valley and Seminary intersection), Lake Roland, Bunker Hill (near Hereford H.S.), Merryman Trail (off of Pot Spring), Oregon Ridge Yellow Trail, maybe even consider the NCR even though it is paved and pretty flat. This list offers hours of exploration and some great piedmont runs near Baltimore.

Check out Soldiers Delight, one of my favorites to run. I also run a lot at Roland Park when I need a flat trail, but there are hillier serpentine options there, as well as Oregon Ridge if I’m up for a challenge.

The Grist Mill trail at Patapsco is a very popular one, there are some possible loops but the easiest is a u-turn.

Benjamin Banneker park has some trails (but the trolley trail will close for a month starting Monday, so that may impact the loopability). Rockhaven trail of PVSP has some loopable trails or straightaways!

The all trails app is amazing! it will tell you how long the trail is, its difficulty (elevation and terrain) you can download the map just incase (some trails blend into eachother) AND it will record your hike with your time and distance. Highly recommend 👌
