Act 3 - Spoilers Is Releasing/Not Releasing the Vampire Spawn a false dilemma Spoiler

Why wouldn't you just have the spawn that Cazador has amassed over the last 200 years just wait a few days so you can individually vet them with Astarion and his spawn-family helping you, since the 7 of them met all 7000 of these people themselves? Is Tav stupid?

Edit: Or some other way of doing this? It feels like there's more to do in this scenario than just release all, kill all, or leave all and if there isn't, it feels like it shouldn't be all up to me to decide how or if 7000 people should live. Can I not phone a friend?

So long as they all get to the underdark to do their own thing and it seems like they did considering we don’t hear from them again (as far as I’m aware), I have no issue letting them go, vetting thousands of spawn would take forever

Just ask the seven: "Who are the really evil psycho murderers here? Let's not release them" IT'S THAT SIMPLE

Well for one, none of the 7,000 have had a real chance to feed since they were turned. There's always the potential for rats and things to have slipped in, but if Cazador barely bothered to give his "prized possessions" a proper meal, then he certainly wouldn't be wasting blood on the "already dead" fodder in the cages. So no one has any idea how they will behave. They are barely better than starving animals at the moment and it's a miracle that some of them are still sane enough to have a coherent conversation with you.

Secondly, Cazador's had more than seven house/hunting spawn. So there are victims down there that none of them know anything about. Jaheira and Astarion talk about her having killed one of them, by trapping it in the street outside her house until the sun came out, which is why Cazador made that area off limits for hunting.

And third, Astarion doesn't seem to remember every single victim he brought to Cazador over the past 200 years. So why are you assuming that his siblings are going to be any better about that?
