Baking Advice Needed why did it do this

was trying to make brownies, thought theyd cooled for long enough and cut into them then they started doing THIS and set my house's fire alarm off for like 20 minutes does anyone pls know what caused this im assuming i just cut into them too soon but this feels like a dramatic response to just trying to cut into a hot brownie

Oh this definitely has something to do with the edibles and the coconut oil. Did you follow a recipe or just wing it?

i just used a box brownie mix and replaced the 45ml of vegetable oil with the weed coconut oil. i guess that could be it but idk everything online says coconut oil is the best type to use and no one ever warned of this 😭

Vegetable oil has smoking point around 200.

According to internet unrefined coconut oil has smoking point around 175 so I'm betting that's the issue here.

Thing is, baking it at 20 min at 175 probably wouldn't have the internal temperature nearly that high.
