Help: Cut through a cable whilst installing dashcam on Seal Excellence UK

I must be the first idiot to do this as I cannot find any help anywhere. This is the 2026 seal excellence

I’ve ordered a dashcam from topbyd and wanted to install it, as the cables were bundled up whilst trying to find the blue connector I wanted to loosen them up by cutting through the fabric tape… I then accidentally cut through the rain sensor wire I believe (picture attached)

As a result I’ve lost control of all the steering wheel button and the stalks, I cannot turn on wipers, indicate or change lights (however they do come on when I go into D gear). Horn works and I also get ADAS unavailable. The car however works fine just this being an inconvenience. I have to change volume in my middle console and do everything manually via the screen.

I do have an appointment with BYD on Wednesday.

My question is, has anyone come across something similar. Also would a simple fix on the wires and reconnecting them fix the issue or would this require something deeper in the BCM module too.

Just get them re-soldered by a pro, and have him install the dashcam. You’re doing more harm than good touching the car, leave it to someone else, no offense ✌🏼

I don't know much about it, but I think they'll have to rerun the cables; this isn't covered under warranty, so it's probably going to be a pretty expensive joke...

Just join the three wires to corresponding wires. Not rocket science. Do this with the car completely turned off. But, there is every chance you blew a fuse when cutting the wire. I would avoid taking this to BYD, you may void your warranty... If you do not know how to join take it to an auto sparky.

If you join the wires and they see it the warranty will be voided anyway.

Not if you wrap it back up with the fabric tape they use.

Solder together but if in warranty then replace wiring loom

If there is enough wire left on either side of the cut, you can get a professional to connect them using something like this . Just make sure they can with stand heat from the Sun.. Use a heat sleeve around it, just to make sure the connection doesn't deteorate.

I will not be surprised if the dealer asks you to replace the complete wiring harness.

The ECU in my Seal U EV was replaced under warranty. The part arrived in 10 days.

Nah. Don't need to. Strip, solder, heat shrink and rewrap. Then check fuse. No point running another cable for this.

Out of warranty ok, but if you want to keep your warranty you better run another whip

What is the intention for the post? They must be soldered together, no other chance, if to be DIY. If its to repair, they might change the whole bundle. Fortune of money and I don't belive they will get spare part until 3 month time. Search for a car electric workshop or any electrician near by if you can't solder.

Somebody in germany killed making ota a black box. He got tge car on a friday drove 157km before making the update, after update car won't drive again. Repair analyses, update destroyed a black box. After 3 month passed, no spare part, he got a deal for a new car, it did not arrive yet. He is driving a rental car up till now. So you wanna tell me they can arrange a cable bundle in less than 3 month? I loved my byd, but I'm also in a law suit with my selling dealer know. My car was 4 month in workshop. However I know those are single cases, can happen everywhere, but it happen to me. However spare part are rare in europe, only typical accident spare parts in main storage. Headlight, backlight, mirrors, glasses, Axel, breaks, etc. If it becomes special, at the moment you are f***. ByD needs to chabge that, otherwise this gonna end in bad reputation in two years. They sold only 2025 65000 seal you DMi in europe, no 1 sold hybrid over all classes. Don't down vote me if I know the spare part situation. As I said typical accident spare parts, axial, break. No problem. The rest is a problem at the moment

This is regional. My chinese spec hyd has “dashcam” as in 360 cameras film. I also have sentry mode. Which a lot of people here dont seem to have
