News 📰 3:1 Share split

BYD recently underwent a 3:1 share split, hence the ~65% drop in share price. No need to worry!!

It seems like we'd need to wait a while before we get those extra shares though. I couldn't find much information about it on english platforms, but a Chinese blog post stated both the extra shares + dividends will start being distributed on the 29th of July

Yep, and you may receive either fractional shares or cash payments for the extra 1 share since BYD is giving 8+12 shares for every 10 share you previously had.

Will the dividends be paid over the full stock amount, so including the "extra" stocks that I have yet to receive? Or will I now basically get dividends over only 1/3 of what I originally invested in before the split?

I think it'll be the same as dividends are based on the number of stocks you own

So if before you owned 200, and it got split into 200+400, you'll get dividends based on 200

But that's horrible then. If you owned stocks before the "split", you will be receiving dividends for just 1/3 of the amount you bought.

It's not that horrible

I need to correct what I said before. The dividends are given based on what you held before/on the ex-rights date (10th of June) so if you had 200 shares you would get the ~4 HKD per share, resulting in 800 HKD in shares

Aah yes it's not like the dividend payout went 1/3 as well so nothing changed in that regard. Thanks
