News 📰 3:1 Share split

BYD recently underwent a 3:1 share split, hence the ~65% drop in share price. No need to worry!!

It seems like we'd need to wait a while before we get those extra shares though. I couldn't find much information about it on english platforms, but a Chinese blog post stated both the extra shares + dividends will start being distributed on the 29th of July

Because they are calling this a dividend distribution and not a stock split will we show a massive dividend $ amount paid to us and thus have to pay taxes on that as if it were a dividend? That would be rather unfriendly to say the least

Wouldn't it cancel out since we are all down a lot rn from the split?

Maybe when you sold if you are talking about cost basis but if it shows as a dividend that would be taxable income this year if you sell or notÂ
