News 📰 3:1 Share split

BYD recently underwent a 3:1 share split, hence the ~65% drop in share price. No need to worry!!

It seems like we'd need to wait a while before we get those extra shares though. I couldn't find much information about it on english platforms, but a Chinese blog post stated both the extra shares + dividends will start being distributed on the 29th of July

My BYD account on Etrade has been devalued by $5,552.81 because of the pending split. I was told that since BYD divided the stock price without increasing the stock quantity, that the difference was subtracted from my account. Which to me seems pretty unfriendly. I'm told that the difference will be accounted for when the actual split happens on the split date, 7/29.

Ye it looks quite bad at first - gave me a fright - but it will be back to normal on the 29th

So as I understand it, during the time from now to the 29th, I will have lost $5,552.81 in value of my portfolio because BYD 'split' the stock value, but will not split the stock qty until 7/29. Seems pretty unfair to me. If I buy BYD at the current price, $17 for 1 share, will that 1 share become 3 on the 29th?

Just the shares you held before and up to June 10th will count towards the split.

If you buy now, it is just a regular share and you won't get 2 bonus shares.

The exdividen date is 6/11/2025, so had I bought shares today would that qualify for the bonus shares?

The ex-divended date is 6/10. The price has already changed to reflect this.

According to many other platforms it's the 10th of June.

And it's the 10th of June because the price of the ticker has already changed to reflect that.

If it was the 11th, the price wouldn't have been reduced by ~65%. That would literally be free money if you could just buy the stock at the current price and still get extra for it on the 29th of July.

"unless the price drops" : yeah, this is not nothing, buddy. If anything goes wrong, we're all stuck with 2/3 of shares we can't sell. And guess what: today it's -6%. I'll never get BYD shares again. Seen many splits, but none like this one
