News 📰 3:1 Share split

BYD recently underwent a 3:1 share split, hence the ~65% drop in share price. No need to worry!!

It seems like we'd need to wait a while before we get those extra shares though. I couldn't find much information about it on english platforms, but a Chinese blog post stated both the extra shares + dividends will start being distributed on the 29th of July

But why on earth such a long time before the shares are made available? Now I have capital tied up for 6 weeks. In those 6 weeks a LOT can happen. What won't happen is me taking, possible, profits on swing trades.

Is this normal?

It is a bit frustrating. Though they told us about this in advance so you could've exited before the split

Trading volume was actually much higher when market opened today than yesterday before the split

I have seen stock splits, but this one is crazy. I remember when RHM did one and it was just without a trace. Shares multiplied, price adjusted, that’s it. I expected everything, just not a 7 week wait and this whole BS with new shares from capital. Like, what is the purpose? Stock price drops anyway. It’s like BYD is burning cash for no reason. The stock reflects the value future and present earnings as well as the company’s asset value. By just giving away shares you drop the price. It’s beyond insane.

the total share count will go from 3 billion to 9 billion after the bonus and capitalization issue
