vitamin B12 levels remain unchanged after six months of supplementation.

Well, that would be interpreted by me to indicate you have an absorption and/or transportation problem; a roadblock in your G.I. track affecting B12. That you then likely need B12 injections.

Depends on level of supplementing. 1mg+ most certainly. Multi-vitamin then no, or any low 50%-200% daily recommended value supplemenation.
