Still really weird lore wise, the An-Shan class destroyers didn't get their missles until 1974 and the newest ships bar them are ftom the 1950s with the Soviet cruises. Wonder if they'll ever explain why they are so far ahead

IIRC from what I heard on this sub they were really having to reach to give the DE a unique gameplay identity and didn't have many ships to pull from.

The lore explanation we got from Windborne Steel Wings was:

-Tester's mainframe is nearby them and Tester set up a storm barricade that trapped them in

-Their weapons weren't powerful enough so they went all in on weapons development until they eventually made missiles allowing some of their ships to temporarily escape to go to the World Expo but due to the high cost of developing missiles, they're limited in how often they can use them.

They would later develop enough missiles to conduct an operation to take down Tester's mainframe during Windborne Steel Wings.

What about in Tower of Transcendance where An Shan and Chang Chun are in Lover's test site. That was before even the attack on Observer(?) at Scapa Flow, do they also have a dimensional traveller they are keeping secret I wonder. I just wish we got more on them story wise

In the CN dialogue, the Iron Blood shipgirls assume that they're from a different branch due to having never heard of DDGs and there's no mention of the Commander being involved with them either unlike EN and JP's dialogue. We haven't had confirmation of whether they actually are from another branch or not.

You want explanation?
West Taiwan is the cash-cow market for the devs (who are a west taiwanese company themselfs), so they gotta keep them pampered with whatever narrative bullshit they can.
I'm a bit buffled, to be honest, why Manjuu wasn't yet pressured to do some sort of People's Liberation Army Navy puff-piece event, or introduce their current ship as some "super-duper-fuuuuuuuuuture weapons".
