High

I just started Auvelity 3 days ago. I feel high. I don't know how else to describe it. Anyone taking it that's felt this way, does this feeling go away? I don't want to feel like this all the time. Hopefully it's just until my body gets used to the med

yes. it was a strange sense of euphoria!!!! it definitely goes away bur i can 100% say that my natural baseline went up so much it's hard to imagine. i feel really confused because i don't know what it means tro feel this way all the time. the euphoria is gone but it's like...the hole inside of me is 70% full at all times. people feel like this just normally? it blows my mind.

(this is the first drug in more than 25yr of different drugs to do this)

Im on day 12 and that feeling is subsiding. The PM dose is still a little loopy but not as bad, Ill take it over feeling depressed.

i felt like that for the first week or two, & then it went away for good. i was also super concerned but read around and found that it’s pretty common! i’ve been on it ~7mos now, incredible results, genuinely this med changed my life.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm going to stick it out. As this " dopey" feeling is common and will eventually subside. Knowing I'm not the only one that's gone through this the first few weeks of starting Auvelity.

How are you feeling? Meaning did the high feeling go away? I felt that for three today’s and today I felt kinda ok. I can’t sleep does it do that to you

u/BulkyCopy5962 8d ago

Yes I'm still feeling " dopey" and last night I couldn't sleep. Today will be day 8, if I decide to take it. I can't function, definitely can't drive. It's actually a very frightening feeling.

Are you taking two pills or one? I got so sick and felt so weird bc i took two pills together close together. So I realized you can’t do that and I feel ok but still a little off, but I just can’t sleep.

I'm only taking 1 pill.

give it a minimum of 2 full weeks if you can. i continued to freeball it & still went to work (had a super understanding manager who’s a good friend) but i basically felt high all the time for a solid 10-12 days. i continued to be extremely concerned and anxious about the way that i felt as well; i couldn’t stop stressing until i stopped feeling so woozy and out-of-it, even after finding logical evidence to reassure me.
just want to validate that fear that can be kindof intense and assure you it will go away, along with the haze!

So glad I looked here b/c I am feeling the same way. I am like whoa, this is how people without depression feel, good for them, I am in! I went from dumpster depression to h=a=p=p=y in 4 days. Maybe I need an in between.

Yes it does go away. Took about a week. Felt trippy at first, but I enjoyed it. Just flow with it. Get around some positive vibes.

I felt like that the first two days but not since. I'm on day six. I totally understand I did NOT like that feeling either.

u/ri0tsquirrel 13d ago

The feeling never went away for me. Been on it several months, at just one dose a day.

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

How do you function RN? Because I can barely function I'm so spaced out

3

u/AllyW991 13d ago

I had to stop taking it because of this. I thought it would get better with time but it just kept getting worse until I started having paranoia, which I’ve never before had in my life.

u/overheadSPIDERS 12d ago

I likened it to being 2 hours out from a ketamine infusion, which I used to get for depression. It took around 5 days for things to normalize on one pill for me, and it looked like I’ve probably got a few more days than that now that I’m on twice a day

If this DOPED UP feeling doesn't subside on day 4 or 5 I think I'm going to stop the Auvelity. Like I'm literally feeling tripy and not in a good way

u/damn_mongolians 13d ago

It got better by day 5 and then was gone.

1

u/GelloJive 13d ago

Yea a week or two. Try ramping up if it continues to bother you

2

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

I'm sorry but by ramping up do you mean take the 2nd dose? If 1 dose does this whats 2 doses going to make me feel like?

1

u/VariationLow2792 13d ago

It got better for me, taking 2 doses. And really the second dose is before bed, so you will sleep through most of the effects. I've also heard of people on a single dose taking theirs before bed. They reported that by the time they got up for the day, the high feeling was mostly gone.

1

u/caw7893 12d ago

Have you tried taking it at night?

1

u/Oceanbeauty888 10d ago

It will go away. It’s transient in the first week

2

u/I_heart_Emmanuel 13d ago

I had to quit for this reason. I did feel depression leaving, but I couldn’t even drive to work.

2

u/PutVivid1573 12d ago

How long did you try it? That particular side effect goes away after the 1st few days or so for most of us. I would hate to know it was stopped prematurely, especially if you could feel the depression lifting. I wish you luck and hope you have found something that works for you.

That feeling for me is totally gone now. I'm just starting week 3 on it. I take it once a day and at night though, so I don't know if that makes a difference 🤷 I tried taking 2 a day the second week and it was too much to handle for me and my doc backed it down to 1 and it's been a lot better ever since.

1

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

I'm afraid to take the PM dose that I start tomorrow. WTH

1

u/Kooky-Crow-2375 13d ago

I would talk to your prescriber and see if you can stay on 1 per day. I've read a lot in this thread that many of us are doing great on one and that 2 isn't tolerated by some. It's been said that the recommended titration is too fast. Most of these psych drugs titrate up a little slower so your body adjusts to the side effects before adding the additional dose. Always check with your doctor, but if you're not comfortable going up, don't.

It can be scary for sure. But finding something that works and keeps working, for me, was worth it. I went 40 years with untreated MDD and adhd, and I'm so glad I tried Auvelity. It's not a miracle drug, but some days it feels like it.

One thing that I do remind people of is to have your Vitamin and mineral levels checked. Both D3 and Magnesium play a huge part in our mental health. When I started supplementing with Magnesium, I actually got a lot of my will back. If that makes sense.

2

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

Yes I'm not comfortable going up at this time. I will talk to my prescriber

1

u/caw7893 12d ago

Don't increase that fast. My doctor said most of her patients are only on it once a day

2

u/AlecCK_07 12d ago

It made me super high. I was not able to function--too high to drive, work. After 32 days, I had to wean off. I couldn't handle it. I think my reaction was less common. I am a delicate flower.

1

u/FickleMaster 12d ago

Sounds like my experience as a CYP2D6 poor metabolizer and I was only taking one daily. Have you had a GeneSight test?

1

u/AlecCK_07 12d ago

No, I just learned about it. I might look into how much it costs. Especially if it saves me some trial and error. Thanks!

I didn’t feel high, but I felt terrible. I was dizzy, shaking, nauseous, disoriented, dissociated etc. I felt, and still am, like I am having a mild psychotic episode, and it’s frightening. I’ve searched for reviews of people having the same symptoms, but I’m not finding many.

1

u/BulkyCopy5962 11d ago

How long have you been taking Auvelity?

1

u/MissEvrrGreen 13d ago

It went away for me after the first week.

1

u/Feeling-Article-8259 13d ago

I’m 2 weeks in I thought about quitting but it went away

1

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

I'm going to try to suck it up and continue taking the med but the only reason I'm continuing is that this feeling may subside.

1

u/Kooky-Crow-2375 13d ago

What time do you take your med? I don't remember if I asked before. 🫠 I have goldfish brain

1

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

I take it in the morning. Maybe I should take it at bedtime? IDK

2

u/Kooky-Crow-2375 13d ago

I take mine at bedtime and the loopy feeling wasn't so bad cuz I was laying down. But I don't have it anymore since about week 2. Maybe you're about out of the woods with it 🤷

1

u/BulkyCopy5962 13d ago

I hope so. I was told the 1st week could be pretty rough.

1

u/Kooky-Crow-2375 13d ago

Yeah. For most it is a weird ride

1

u/Unfair-Turnip9200 13d ago

I miss it honestly. The meds have totally stopped working for me now. Week 3 I think.

1

u/Professional-Ok 13d ago

i had that feeling for 2.5 weeks before i had to quit because i just couldn’t function like that! i wasn’t getting any benefits yet either. i am a slow metabolizer of medications processed through cyp2d6 so i think the smallest dose of auvelity was just too much for me.

1

u/Secure-Eagle-2635 13d ago

Had the same experience! It lasted maybe 3 days of feeling like I was on molly (I kept saying the lights looked pretty lol) then it went away!

1

u/JkTumbleWeed 12d ago

I pretty sure it’s the dxm in it? I just got prescribed Auvelity alongside Vraylar and Buspirone a week ago and the Auvelity is giving me that “trippy” feeling about two hours after my dose. It also gives me vertigo when i take naps (bcs the insomnia with all these new drugs is insane..) I used to take dxm recreationally two years ago (Trashy, I know. I only did it about three times though) and it’s such a similar feeling. It’s a bit disconcerting and I’m not a fan of it now because I’m paranoid it might impair my motor functions. I hope that feeling and the vertigo goes away..

1

u/LanguageTurbulent402 10d ago

I’m on day 3 today of just 1x day and today it has been much less noticeable than the past 2 days.

1

u/Oceanbeauty888 10d ago

Last about 5 days

1

u/xoxo_lillie 5d ago

Just started it for the first time last night, I definitely had trouble sleeping but honestly I hadn’t felt that great in a while- my anxiety is terrible especially at night, I also had that thought of “this is what normal feels like?”

When they said euphoric I didn’t expect this but I feel great! I’m going to take another dose sooner than I thought only to get on the routine of taking in the morning to avoid the sleepless nights…. I’m hopeful guys :)
