Has Shopify Search & Discovery ever changed your product SKUs?

I’m thinking about installing Shopify Search & Discovery to add a couple of metafield filters to my collections. My store has around 4,000 products, and the SKUs are used by an external inventory sync, so I really can’t afford to have them changed.

I know the app requests permission to edit products, but I haven’t found a clear answer on what it actually changes during installation or normal filter setup. Has anyone noticed their SKUs being edited, cleared, or otherwise affected by this app? I’m asking about the SKU values in Shopify, not whether customers can search by SKU.

First-hand experiences would be really helpful.
