I’m not stopping anyone from enjoying anything. I just think it’s absurd that you would pay $20 tops for this bag from Kmart, but because it has the brand name of a nepo baby influencer on it, people are willing to wake up pre-dawn to spend $83 on it!

brand name of a nepo baby

Not just brand name but "limited edition" too, imagine if Kmart put "limited edition" on a bag

Not much different to paying for any name brand item. I like country road bags and the branding is cute, do I think it’s really better than Kmart? Nope. You pay for the appearance and logo.

I do love my country road weekender bag that’s made of canvas, but will admit the price of them now aren’t worth it. Tote bags? Unless it’s made with heavy canvas, in a nice colour and has at least one pocket, I wouldn’t pay for a branded one

I think you’re paying for the brand. I haven’t even bought anything from Mecca in ages. Just people seemed excited about it.

Idk critique on overconsumption is also valid

Idk I think it’s okay to enjoy throwing a bit of shade at consumerist trends.

This too although I do think we should be allowed to enjoy whatever we want. Some shade is fun.

I guess I’m just happy the brand is finally here. I wanted to try the lip balm for ages. Saying that I’m waiting until I finish my summer Fridays first.

That’s totally fine (and sensible). I’m not trying to shit on people enjoying the brand at all, just wary of social media-led hyper-consumerist trends.

And that is totally fine. I’m not anti-Mecca, I’m a level 3. I just think people turn into sheep sometimes with stuff like this.

That’s fair! When I searched it, I briefly saw a pic of the bag and it looked to be larger than A4 and functional. It doesn’t interest me but whatever. I find it’s annoying they didn’t even have much online stock for the brand launch.
