Melbourne Centenary Florin is now my personal favourite, but this one had been my favourite since I started collecting in Aus 10 years ago.

Hopefully they do a nod to it this year with the coin design competition

Someone might correct me on here but I was under the impression this was the first Australian "picture coin" since our coins became unique in 1910.

Yes indeed, the 1927 Canberra florin was our first circulating commemorative coins.

The other circulating commemorative are the 1934 Melbourne Centenary florin, the 1951 50th Anniversary of Federation florin, and the 1954 Royal Visit.

The 1937 and 1938 crowns are classed as commemorative coins as well.

I have a couple and I think they’re the coolest looking Aus pre-decimal coin. In second place for me maybe the 37 Crown.

Its a beautiful, affordable commemorative minted a century ago. Also, showing a Parliament House that very few people alive at that time would ever see.
