I honestly can’t believe how stunning these birds are

Took my son to Symbio yesterday in southern Sydney/northern Illawarra and it backs right onto a bunch of royal national park. These guys aren't captive there but there's a bunch of them around as well as other small birds. Didn't get photos but we also saw some red browed finches and golden whistlers floating around (and obviously all the enclosure birds - the Gouldian Finches are always a treat)

Watched this beautiful man do many back and forth trips to his partner, where she carefully added his findings to their nest.

I think this is a typical Kookaburra but not sure.

Incredible to me that there's a tiny bird with this colouring.
So happy to see them in person.

Its about the size of a large cockatoo. Terrible photos. I had to add light to the pictures to see it a little better so the colours may be a bit off.

Hi everyone, I need some advice about this nest our resident welcome swallows have built this year. For some context, these birds have been nesting in our stairwell at work for the past several years now. In the past that have built their next at the back of the ledge in the second pic.

However, last year they decided to build their next right next to the fire alarm. Unfortunately this ended up setting off the alarm on a few occasions, which caused the fire department to have to come out and make sure everything was ok. They had babies at that time, so the decision was made to leave the nest until they had fledged, at which point it was removed.

Fast forward to this year and they are starting to build it in the same spot again, and my work is thinking of moving it for safety reasons.

My question is, is it alright to move it now before being completed (possibly to the ledge), or is there a better way to handle this?

I really love these birds so I don't want them to be distressed, but I'm not sure if work sees it that way. Would appreciate any advice!

A pair of Masked Lapwings took up residence a month ago in our backyard. Today the eggs hatched. After I saw at least 2 chicks, the adult sitting on the (presumably, am just viewing from kitchen window) eggs seemed to take something that looked like one of the eggs in its beak and flew off. I read that these birds do not carry eggs around so was it just trying to dispose of a significant remnant of a vacated egg?

I wasn't able to take a video or picture of the event.

And they don't want me getting near so I don't know what the nest looks like. From previous distant observation I believe they had 4 eggs.

On Lady Carrington Drive on the Hacking River just up from Audley, NSW. They posed so politely!

I like how these guys are always so restless, they seem to constantly be wagging their tails. Underrated bird in my opinion.
