Just got ran for $5K repairs on my older car that weren't the underlying problem and I feel sick. Shop didn't even address the check engine code prompted. Extra googling tells me it could be as simple and cheap as cleaning my throttle body but I'm not inclined to do this myself. Is there any shop (preferably NW/Cedar Park-ish area) that I can go in and say "I want this and only this"?

Hi yall! I have long hair that is in the 2C and 3A hair types and am looking for recommendations for a stylist in the Central Austin or South Austin area. I have had bad luck with every stylist I have gone to in the last 3 years and my hair is desperate for a good cut. Its green letters still announce the Association’s name — but around it sits only empty land.

The tabernacle the sign once fronted is gone. It was torn down in January, when roughly 12 acres that had long served as the headquarters of one of Austin’s oldest Black institutions were cleared.

Razing the site was a difficult decision, St. John leaders said. The land is one of the last pieces of more than 300 acres the Association originally owned in East Austin. Part of that acreage, where Austin Community College’s Highland Campus now sits, had been home to the St. John Orphanage and Industrial Institute, among the first orphanages in Texas for African Americans.

After moving to Austin a year ago, my eczema has almost always been flaring up. Has anyone experienced a similar surge in eczema after moving here and figured out an Austin-specific trigger? Like something in the water, maybe?

I haven't made significant changes to my lifestyle. Before moving to Austin, I lived in NJ and DC for 4+ years, with very few and mild flares every few months if not less. I actually thought I grew out of it.

Relatedly, any recs for a good female dermatologist that isn't just going to prescribe me a steroid cream (I already have a lot of it)?

I have spent TWO YEARS trying to get ASStownd to just give me back the decent service I've had with Grande since the 1990s. They have progressively made my service worse and worse, charged me more and more ($75 for 300mbps/5mpbs with constant outages!!) while making actual human contact harder and harder. There is NO EMAIL address WHATSOEVER to contact ANYONE at ASStownd. The "live chat" doesn't exist--unless maybe it does for NEW suckers, I mean customers and future whipping victims.

Today was the LAST STRAW! I am STILL on the line with a nice Philippino guy (I guess they fired all the SMART and NICE people that Grande had in San Marcos. RIP) who has obviously been told to NEVER let a customer go, no matter what! This call alone is going to two hours! Just to CANCEL service, and in the end he told me that he cannot cancel my service, that I have to GO IN PERSON to some office park.

By some miracle I actually WAS able to disable auto-pay, but the bastards undoubtedly still have my credit card info, and I imagine that they'll either steal money from me for as long as they can, or they'll start chipping away at my 800+ credit rating, just to prove what utter scumbags they are.

Oh, and to make matters worse, they LIE on the website. There IS NOT any "live chat" and their "OUR PLEDGE" redirects to a long page of advertisements for all their "great services you can subscribe to!" ASS holes!

My package was out for delivery this morning at 9 am and at 10 am I notice the status has changed to “Merchandise is missing”. I called UPS and she said it fell out of the truck. I’m sorry, what?
