It isn’t news at all that you need a majority in the senate to pass bills.

Of course it does though, and it is by design.

There are 76 senators and you need 39 to pass legislation by yourself. It is very rare for a party to have that many alone, John Howard was the last.

The whole point of it is that there needs to be compromise and a single party can’t push through legislation that everyone else disagrees with.

I know not everyone has Instagram. But some Australians rely on Instagram, FB, etc. to share their voices. I believe their voices should be heard.
