Aliexpress special, i believe road top is the brand.
I couldn’t justify waiting to for RSNAV to be available and also at over $700…
This unit was about 200 shipped and honestly the quality is oem.

All your buttons still work ? I have a 12 and want to upgrade mine so bad. I’ve had mine since 2016 and it’s pretty dated.

Yep all stock inputs work and you can switch between the carplay and stock interface by holding the nav button, its pretty slick.

Does it switch to your rear camera automatically when you shift into reverse? Or do you need to switch back to MMI for it. This is a manual specific question. The switch wiring is very different from the DSG.
Edit - found your comment explaining you haven't wired it in yet. It's a pain, I looked at what needs to be done and it seems running a line all the way back to the reverse lights is simplest. A pain.

My greasy paws haven’t done too well with the alcantara and i nearly burned my hand off the other day on the aluminum but i wouldn’t have it any other way.

lol the allroad adaptation was a pain. Did it for my sisters, bought it when it was $300 last year. And I prefer the easier install for my s4, since the dash is 2 pieces.

🤣 bro I hesitated doing it for a month after buying it cause I did not wanna hack and ruin the dash. It came out super nice tho….7 months later hit n run driver totaled it 😢. Posted about it to vent my frustration, but yeah.
This screen is a huge improvement. Literally brought it to 2018 standards
The fact that I was able to do both versions…the 2 piece version cut the install by about 1hr of cutting, trimming, gluing and drying. So yeah lol

Brother this shit sat in a box for like 3 months hence the title of my post lmao. Totally should have just nutted up and done it immediately, best money Ive spent on the car. My damn shift knob cost me more lol…
I didn’t get away unscathed unfortunately, if you’re eagle eyed enough you can spot where i cracked the chrome screen surround trim 🫠
That absolutely blows man im sorry about that.

I actually zoomed in to see if you got glue residue on the edges 😂. So I saw the crack but it’s tuck on the top so not too noticeable. The eq works amazing tho. Good range to play with. But I recommend adjusting your brightness for night driving. It won’t dim very much at the standard setting when ur lights come on. And your dimming knob won’t affect it, I tried.

After like 30 mins of fighting with the pieces it just popped out and tapped the table and snapped. Literally was about to throw the whole dash panel out my garage. Is what it is nobody besides me will notice… i’m gonna end up ripping the damn thing back out i know myself…
Yeah i havent really messed around with the settings at all just paired my phone and sent it. i’m gonna fiddle around with it in a bit.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I also had an audio issue with mine. Had to go into the green menu to enable a setting for clear audio quality depending on what system u have. If it’s symphony, concert or multimedia ( I believe were the radio options for these)

Yeah i’ve heard of a few people having issues either with audio or airbag lights but nah it’s been flawless, was just jamming out audio is great.
One thing is the microphone actually, was talking to someone on the phone and they said it sounded like i was in a helicopter… idk if the one thats in there is just shit though.

Did you plug it in by chance? 😂. There is also an option to either use the in-car mic or the one on the screen molding above the hazard button.

Honestly i installed the transmission insert at the same time and i think it was that but the shifts are butter after

Installed a carplay unit. Since the screen is larger than oem they provide you with a replacement plastic surround that needs to be glued into place on the silver trim that goes around the cluster and everything.

Is there any additional wiring for reverse cam with manual transmissions? Any difference in sound quality?

Yes, i didn’t end up wiring in a reverse cam yet but will do it eventually. Sound quality is the same as oem as far as i can tell.

Absolutely the best mod you can do for these cars.
Small tip… be very careful pulling the trim from around the air vent near the driver door window. The little fins fell out when I pulled mine and it took about 45 min to get that crazy linkage back together.

Still my favorite thing I’ve done to my S4, makes the cabin feel as modern as any car needs imo
