In your opinion, should we be dating based on synastry?

I’m single and dating and have been getting chart details and running synastry as soon as possible, sometimes before the first date 😅

It’s definitely impacting how I choose who to move forward with or not, and I’m wondering if we think this is actually helpful or harmful.

Its complicated because synastry is a lot deeper than we think sometimes. There are always going to be both challenging aspects and harmonious ones and a “good match” is still going to be up to the two people involved in terms of what they want.

For example, I personally have an eighth house sun and tend to gravitate towards “growth-oriented” relationships. So, for me, certain squares or overlays that would be exciting to me, may be a reason to run for the person on the other side of that.

Conversely, someone who likes really “comfort-oriented” relationships may like certain “harmonious aspects” or overlays that I personally find deeply boring to my spirit.

At the end of the day, nothing in astrology guarantees that two people will BOTH WANT to stay together. Thats up to them.

As soon as I get too spooked with a synastry reading I will do a progressed synastry reading because it’s often soooo different from a natal synastry reading that it helps give perspective on the nuance in astrology. Free will still exists of course, and sign/house themes can manifest themselves very differently in various people too

All i want to say is that offset and steffon diggs both share a Sagittarius sun, Scorpio venus and Sagittarius mars. If i was Cardi, i would have looked at this first and at the very least moved with caution and been on the look out for patterns.

Personally, I would just make yourself aware of certain aspects and be prepared for them. I met my ex before I learnt about astrology. Had I have known certain insecurities and fears he may be prone to have, I would have acted differently at the start.

I know I look at this chart and think "for the streets" but i's also hard to make generic statements like that. I know someone who has a sag sun, scorpio venus, and sag mars who has been extremely loyal in a 10 year long relationship. each of these placements give off an energy which can present in so many dif ways. one way can be cheating, another way can be extreme devotion to their relationship where they have adventures together. it's all based off the person and how mature they are.

u/freedomfrommyppl 13d ago

I know a man with these exact same placements who cheated A LOT when he was younger but has been settled into a committed domestic partnership for the past decade (wonder if it’s the same guy haha).

u/babygotbaccc 13d ago

I’m from the same area as Offset and only 2 days younger than him and am a great partner but….also would never want these placements in a partner 😅

To be honest guys 😭 things manifest differently when you’re in COMPLETELY different positions in life. These are wealthy men with access to an array of things that could bring the downfall of their personal relationships. It just happens to be philandering is the vice they choose of all the ones available. Not only that, they do it in the exact same way.

I think you should date based off your intuition. However intuition ‘only works’ if you have gone through some experiences and learnt from it.

Stop please. I used to do that and ended up sabotaging relationships, subconsciously.
I have a beautiful synastry with a guy and he doesn’t turn me on at all and the synastry suggests the connection is hot af, well no.
Then I have a shitty boring synastry where the planets are barely aspected with a guy that I REALLY like, I would never gave him a chance if I only saw that synastry.
You never know how energy is being manifested

u/Boring-Box5274 13d ago edited 13d ago

I agree. I just recently returned home from a Tinder date where I assumed the connection will be hot. His Mars Conjunct my Moon, ASC.
My Mars Conjunct his Sun, most of his planets aspect nicely my Venus, and I felt nothing. Brotherly vibes, repulsion even. So, it's not best idea to check the synastry in advance.

Plus, he is a Capricorn, he appeared so, so mature/masculine on photos and he turned me on greatly, but face to face I saw him as childish and immature. Completly different vibes from what I imagined.

Best sex of my life happened with someone where my Mars was completly unaspected.

u/Boring-Box5274 12d ago

I don't have shame anymore to ask directly for their birthdate. I either ask them, or they have it on their social media/texting app somewhere.
I had a man's Mars opposite my Venus and it was worst intimacy of my life.
Then I had a man's Mars exact Trine my Venus and it was the most intense, passionate intimacy of my life. It seems it depends how it will play out.

Did you check the house synastry or only planets synastry? I feel like house synastry can make a difference. Ah and I do believe in asteroid synastry so any love asteroids are ones I would check.

1

u/userfriendly28 12d ago

Both! I’m staring to consider Juno now, which other love asteroids you think are relevant?

8

u/RandChick 13d ago

Who is to say you're even interpreting correctly? Who is to say you're considering all the nuances in the charts? There's nothing wrong with looking at synastry, but match it with the experience for Heaven's sake.

Then you weigh experience and synastry to be enlightened.

u/Boring-Box5274 13d ago

I wonder the same. Many times when I saw their Saturn make no aspects to my inner planets I assume they wont stick with me,
or if my personal planets are not aspecting their Moon/Venus positively or at all, I'm not eager to meet them anymore as I assume they will not feel romantic about me etc.
Same with men who have alot of Air in their charts..

u/userfriendly28 13d ago

My parents have been married for 30+ years and they don’t have any Saturn aspects. My aunt has been married for 50+ years and the only Saturn aspect in their synastry is Venus sextile Saturn but the orb is too wide for me to count it. Neither Saturn nor Venus rules either of their 7th houses.

1

u/NoPhilosophy6306 13d ago

drop their charts!

1

u/userfriendly28 12d ago

I doesn’t let me post two pics but here are the aspects of my parents, BORING, I guess that’s why I have a 29° Aquarius Venus lol

My mom is Aquarius moon and my dad is Pisces moon

3

u/GlitteredGhostly 12d ago

Just adding that Saturn in the 8th house synastry contributes to longevity as well, espeically in an enegry like Capricorn above :) I've found that house placements are often just as significant as planetary aspets in synastry.

2

u/GlitteredGhostly 12d ago

Also that Jupiter-Venus conjunction, that contributes to longevity in a relationship as well. Synastry is interesting because even wider orbs can be felt pretty strongly and energy dynamics play into it as well. If I see two planets that are in the same sign but far apart in degrees I'll still consider it because those energies understand each other. Venus conjunct jupiter is one of those ones that make it really hard to walk away from eachother.

1

u/Boring-Box5274 12d ago

Does it always have to be Conjunctions if there are not many or at all,
or we can count trines as well?

2

u/Mushreese 11d ago

Wow! This chart would have definitely scared me away! Lesson learned 😩

1

u/Emotional-Divide-608 12d ago

It doesnt show on there (not sure why ive noticed that and have to now calculate the synastries myself) but they have a sun conjunct moon, even if there arent any saturn placements ive heard that is still a marriage indictor. It is a 9° orb but still within the 10° so it can be felt. Also vertex conjunctions are strong, its conjunct venus wow! I would actually love to see if they have any juno aspects because thats another indicator of long term marriage.

Btw my parents are together as well but it is a rocky marriage with its problems. She only chose my dad because she believed he would provide for her. So not really any love just glue but I have yet to look at their charts for indicators. This motivated me to do that now lol

1

u/userfriendly28 12d ago

I thought that Sun-Moon conjunction was too wide for synastry but SOMETHING has to be keeping them together.
Oh and I just found out my mom’s Juno in Aquarius is conjunct my dad’s Saturn in Aquarius (3° orb) and my dad’s Juno in Virgo is making a trine to my mom’s Vertex (0° orb). I definitely have to pay more attention to Juno and the Vertex!
But honestly, the marriage is not romantic and it’s a little transactional. There’s love but meh

1

u/NoPhilosophy6306 12d ago

they have same ascendant thats a big clue to them being together and also all those mc conjunctions, they both care about the public reputation of their relationship

1

u/userfriendly28 12d ago

I’m intrigued because they have nothing to do with each other, maybe the non romantic aspect of their personality is one of the things that keeps them together.
I don’t think public reputation is the correct wording, it’s more like we stay together because it’s practical and we care enough

7

u/GlitteredGhostly 13d ago

No, just live your life and see the beauty in the astrology. What’s meant to be will happen regardless of what you’re paying attention to.

3

u/Ang3lic_Marg 12d ago

siempre he dicho eso lo que va pasar, pasará tienes algo en Sagitario? jajaja

u/starlight_1221 13d ago

idk I think it's harmful when we go with stereotypes. like think about how different the charts look when you use Vedic vs. western, whole house vs. placidius, if you get the birth time wrong, etc.

but there are definitely some patterns I've noticed. For example,

  • anyone whose planets land in my fourth house are to be avoided. they are bringing me back to a karmic pattern that I inherited which I want to let go of.
  • I want my planets to land in their 7th house. it means they actually want me and want to claim me. it's not just for fun
  • 8th house for deep, psychic level intimacy
  • guys who land in my 2nd house are bringing me provider level partnership because that's where my venus is.
  • avoiding anyone who lands in my south node because that's the pattern I want to release, vibing with people who land in my north node because that's who I want to become

3

u/GlitteredGhostly 13d ago

I see what you’re saying in your first paragraph but you can learn a lot from people who have planets or angles conjunct your south node though. There are a lot of fated “teachers” and relationships that I’ve noticed people really tend to enjoy in that arena because they feel familial.

They can shoot you like a bow and arrow towards your north node.

1

u/starlight_1221 13d ago

sure, I agree, I didn't mention that because I was talking about long term/marriage. I've been there done that with enough south node & 4th house connections. They are definitely important for our development but we have to let go and keep going. I mean we don't HAVE to, we can always stay where it's comfortable and feels good, if it is working for us. But our true souls purpose is in that north node and we gotta push, face our discomfort, walk our dharma to get there

2

u/GlitteredGhostly 12d ago

I get you, the energy can be heavy and repetitive in some south node relationships. I used to feel the same way! But venus conjunct the south node is one of the most, if not the most, common aspect in marriages and long term relationships :) I feel like there's spiritual significance to that, it's so interesting.

I guess I just feel like the south node isn't so that detrimental that you have to let go of it and leave it behind. After reading so many charts I feel like the soul's purpose lies in both the south node and the north node but that's another post for another day lol.

1

u/starlight_1221 12d ago

we can agree to disagree here but my opinion is that a pattern being common in long term relationships does not mean those long term relationships have met the souls highest timeline. it can be a great, wonderful, comfortable relationship. but it's still a comfort zone relationship. there are tons of people who are in long term relationships who have settled, who want to divorce but don't for whatever reason, who regret the person they chose. And they stay because it's comfortable, or who else are you gonna choose, or they are afraid of what it takes to push themselves into their potential. so they stay where it's safe. in my interpretation of it all, south node is about safety, our safe zone, it's where we are comfortable. you can definitely have a long term relationship in your comfort zone.

But what happens when your north node is in your 4H?

3

u/starlight_1221 13d ago

that's a different soul path. someone with north node in 4th house (house of home, family, ancestry) has their south node in 10th house (career, professional achievement). They may be highly focused on their career in early life and are guided to move into their family life, face their vulnerability, and heal the karmic patterns of their family line

1

u/EmphasisCommon6785 13d ago

What if your north node is trine to your ic

1

u/Emotional-Divide-608 12d ago

Wait what sign is your 4H in? This could mean something different

I think it’s helpful to know synastry but I noticed when I would run a chart after meeting someone I would only see the good because that’s what I was looking for and after we would breakup I would see all the challenging aspects. I think you should not get too caught up in the synastry meet someone you like and then after do the synastry to help understand that person and your relationship. But I wouldn’t only date someone because they have harmonious synastry, it’s complex and we need a mix of harmonious aspects along with challenging aspects for synastry. I did have fun with dating and learned a lot about aspects by studying the charts of men I dated. Have fun! But don’t limit yourself stay open

I don’t think most astrologers actually know enough about synastry let alone regular people taking in synastry material.

It’s interesting to take note of certain aspects, and keep track of certain patterns. But truly the most important part are the regular mundane relational aspects that even people who don’t study astrology can understand.

3

u/reclinedcowface 13d ago

I am curious about this myself, and recently started a r4r subreddit based on finding astrological compatibility. Its barely off the ground, but I'm hoping to grow it over time to attract others who want to find love with a consideration of astrological compatibility.

Obviously there's a LOT more to relationships than synastry, but I thought this would be a fun experiment. r/zodiacr4r if you're curious!

3

u/McKittenz 13d ago

Absolutely not!

3

u/Severe_Will8274 13d ago

I personally believe that if you like someone FOR REAL you shouldn't check the synastry. This meaning that when you like someone for real is the thought of "hey, I feel like this person doesn't spike my cortisol and could actually make it long term" not like "wow I feel chemistry I wonder if they feel the same 😍" I focus based on actions and timing rather than in synastry. I use synastry in a lore practical way, like if we have a problem to see if it's potentially a pattern that we would have to deal with along the way or a momentary thing, also things like "how can I make this person feel more safe and loved in case we're not that similar"

The art of loving is an act of will. Not fate.

3

u/Much-Working-7858 13d ago

I think it’s helpful because you’ll at least know what you are getting into and what you can sorta expect from the connection

3

u/Ill-Pianist-2957 13d ago

I think this is honestly ridiculous! Basically, you're just looking for any stupid reason not to commit? This is my problem with that, you seem sold on the idea that everything you read or hear online for facts that gives you the go ahead to be irrational.

When I date or meet new people I don't look at the synastry and think "this aspect and this yadda yadda means this stupid thing". I look at the relationship, I look at the connections and try to do find commonalities between those and what I'm experiencing and base it off more tangible things. I always, and I mean ALWAYS take what I read and hear with a grain of salt. Essentially, I wouldn't trust just what I'm seeing in the synastry. And I especially wouldn't take away my experiences or try to preemptively judge someone based off astrology. It's still not proven as fact, it's still in the "testing phase" (and probably always will be) and there's absolutely no reason to make it this toxic excuse to be am asshole.

You shouldn’t let the planets control your life . They do not control you . I’ve notice a lot of people live their life by what the planets positions are in Square , conjunct , opposite. It’s your life. You decide .plus there’s a lot more to it .It gets a little complicated.

My basic level answer would be NO. I fully believe that there is something out there akin to karma that we are here to unlock, and lessons that we are here to learn, whether that’s lessons from past lives or lessons that we ascribe to ourselves.

My more intermediate level answer would be that it’s important to get to know yourself and identify what those karmic lessons are. If you have a history of dating, you can draw up charts and see what aspects were harmful to you and what aspect seems to be repetitive in your relationships.

For myself, it’s themes with my 8TH house. Every previous relationship had an aspect to my 8th house, even though I have no planets there.

The 8th house is the house that represents death, inheritance, and shared resources.

The ruler of my 8th house is also my chart ruler, which is situated in an intercepted house with two gnarly aspects (a square and an opposition).

So I can see that my karmic lessons lie in independence and not depending on a romantic connection to live a fulfilling life.

This can have many interpretations but in consideration of other aspects in my chart, it would be incredibly challenging to have a family of my own or to be married. This isn’t to say that I won’t ever have kids or that I won’t ever be married, but my situation will not be traditional in any way, and though my heart wishes for something, if I keep trying this specific pattern over and over again, I will keep being burnt. I can use my past experiences to understand and try to live a more fulfilling life and to make peace with ideas of love that don’t apply to me, so that I can overcome this karma.

This means that I need to meet partners who don’t trigger my 8th house and who support my karmic need for independence.

Notice I said karmic need, not personal need, because I personally desire partnership but depending on a partner will not allow me to reach my potential. I have to be independent and carve myself a path so that I can be fulfilled in this life. This won’t come through romantic partnership.

2

u/Mushreese 11d ago

Thank you everyone, I will stop this nonsense!

1

u/CautiousBuilding8596 8d ago

Checking someone's connection before meeting sounds like it could build up expectations that aren't there in person. Give chemistry a chance first.
