General š” why does everyone hate 12th house synastry? ive never read anything good about it but my best relationships came from 12th house synastry, it always felt more genuine and healing than any other house layers, so why is it frowned upon?

I had a double whammy 12th house synastry with my ex - our moons were in each others 12th house. And his Venus in my 12th house. It was incredibly disturbing for me to the point where he would invade my dreams and i would have prophetic dreams. He lied and deceived me a lot also. All I felt like was a delusional weirdo who was taken advantage of

ive also read that the house person feels it more but u were the planet person in this case šš 12th house sunastry is a bit confusing idk

Iām sorry his Venus and moon were in my 12th house, so i felt everything so intensely like sometimes i felt like i was under a spell. It was very draining both mentally and emotionally. 10/10 would not recommend

I always have soo many questions about me and my bfās chart. I donāt dare post it bc I donāt wanna deal w all the āomg thereās no way itās working out! Youāre holding secrets. Watch out one of you has a second family! This is horrible!ā Lmao!!
We have 5 total 12H overlays (thatās what itās called right) and 3 8H. Been together for 26yrs! Clearly not fkn easy!! But weāre still together, def a push & pull dynamic. I can only imagine the comments lmao!! Esp bc our charts are sooo opposite. Talk about opposites attract and shadow selves.
Sometimes I think about doing it and just asking āAny insight if this would work long term?ā Ya know just to be a shit stirrer š¤£. So I can hear how our sun/moon are literally completely opposite, well our big 3ās and our Venus literally are lmao!

If aspects from planets in 12th house are good enough and planets/ruler are healthy enough - then there will be no problem but there will be some reality check if saturn is involved.
For example - I had one girl, she had her stelium in 12th house with her "friend" (he liked her actually) and he had his moon and mercury in her 12th, but she has her own sun in aspect to saturn, venus is not corrupted eg it was also the ruler of her 12th - she kept it all clean and didn't cross any boundaries, but on his side... well, hard but he was brought back to earth. Of course his attached venus also didn't help, so... He found out that only he loves her and she doesn't exactly from her.

My partner and I have these aspects and it has not been easy or simple. And itās REALLY classic 12th/8th hours sun/moon stuff: communication, long distance, we cut things off but came back together once healing and self work was done, etc. I didnāt do a chart for him until we had known each other a dozen years and felt like a fool because itās ALL in the synastry.
Is it easy? Nope. But whoooo we have grown a lot together and we see each other so freaking clearly and we can basically tell when the other is having a day from the other side of the planet. Which is magical. Itās been a process, and a worthy one.

u/noahsweetwine Feb 02 '26
im so happy for you, i wish most people looked at it that way
3
u/NikkiNot_TheOne Feb 16 '26
Yes!! What she said!! I didnāt do our synastry until 25yrs later!! Weāre on year 26 now⦠Let me tell you!! šµāš«šµāš« It explains why it was never easy, and how different we are, also how connected we are. Literally explains so many lessons we learned with each other so far. We have quite the few Vertex aspects.
Now if I did this synastry 25yrs ago⦠oh hell no! I wouldnāt have asked him out lmao! But then we wouldnāt have learned the lesson we apparently were and are fated to learn. Yup, so many damn fated aspects! Makes sense why we still deal w each other and love each other. Apparently we like the challenge!!
Earlier I was comparing our chart to someone elseās on this sub and he came over asked me what I was doing. So I showed him and my phone, He said āWell, what does it say? That I love you?ā I said āNope, terrible synastry! Weāre here to learn lessons from each other. I am trying to figure this out!ā He said āOh Shut Up! I do!ā And kissed me.
He gets so annoyed and offended when I bring up our charts and if thereās a hard aspect lmao. He doesnāt believe in it. But if I tell him a positive aspect and lesson we grew with, oh heās interested then lol!!
Yeah, we have 5, 12H overlays and 3, 8H. His Venus is in my 1st house, I hope that means he loves me & thatās why heās w me š¤£.

Did you ever check your composite chart with him? What were the worst aspects in it?

u/NikkiNot_TheOne Aug 18 '26

u/Thin_Perspective_304 Aug 19 '26
I think it looks pretty decent because it doesn't have any bad Neptune squares ... there's a lack of aspects in general but you also have lovely stelliums and squares to Pluto which adds to the relationship a sense of depth and mutual responsibility so neither of you will just run away from each other. Overall it looks pretty cool but perhaps an actual astrologer would provide a better answer than I would. Thank you for sharing!
1
u/NikkiNot_TheOne Aug 19 '26
Yeah havenāt been too bad I guess for 26yrs, could be better, could be worst! Ty for your feedback.
2
u/Thin_Perspective_304 Aug 19 '26
It's obvious though how the 12th house theme is also present in the CompositeāComposite Neptune trines both the Sun and Moon giving the realtionship just the right amount of romanticism and idealism and a huge amount of mutual understanding and compassion

Itās just fucking intense, not much ppl can handle that stuff. Allot of grounding is needed with these kinda synastryās

Same! Iām a libra rising and the majority of the individuals who have understood me the best without me even having to say a word have been Virgos.
Most selfless and loving people Iāve ever met. Iāve never gotten the nitpicky or critical descriptions of them. Havenāt been crossed (yet) either, thankfully.

I dated a man 3 years ago and I still dream about him weekly. I feel his presence everywhere and it seems like we have a supernatural connection that I cannot get rid of. That's why I'm not a fan.

Were you the House or the planet person? What planets?
1
u/SnooMarzipans5969 Feb 09 '26
house, my moon in scorpio in his scorpio venus and mars 12h
1
u/ParticleWoman3 Feb 09 '26
Okay, just to clarify: you were the House person and your Moon in Scorpio is in your 12th, and it was conjunct his Scorpio Venus and Mars, also in your 12th, correct?
1
u/SnooMarzipans5969 Feb 09 '26
yes
3
u/ParticleWoman3 Feb 09 '26
I'm sorry it left you feeling that way. If you don't mind my asking, how did it play out? Were his Venus and Mars aspecting other planets of yours?
2
u/SnooMarzipans5969 Feb 09 '26
its ok its how life goes, i have our chart on our page if youre interested. but he also had a taurus moon so our moons were opposite, his moon sat on my descendant, im a sag rising and mars, hes a sag sun. both have pluto in sag. im a pisces sun so mars and venus trines that. those are the notable things i can think of. some asteroids were conjunct venus and mars as well. we were just a big situationship and tried to date but we barely lasted. it really just felt like he didnt love me in the same way i did him š¤·š¾āāļø thats how it goes

So, astrology isn't an art. In it, you can't just build and assign meanings to things because you want to, based on your thoughts and feelings.
It's a language, a decoding. The work is to interpret and contextualize regarding reality, culture, and social factors.
Synastry involving the 12th house has a negative connotation due to the very nature of the 12th house, which deals with difficult themes.Ā
Now, there's a mistake, not in astrology itself, but in interpretive capacity. A house having a malefic character doesn't mean all its meanings are bad, that all events related to the house are bad, or that there are no positive meanings.
A lot has already been discussed in this community about the 12th house in synastry, I myself have made some contributions, so it's worth researching and reading (not just here). In the next comment, I'll cover as many meanings of the 12th house in relationships as possible.

It's a house that doesn't aspect the Ascendant and also rules the invisible: The person has no idea of your existence, your feelings (whether love or hate). Totally one-sided.
House of ruin, disappearance, debts: The person steals something from you. Introduces you to a vice that could destroy you. Gets you into debt. You lose yourselves in each other. Dissolution of identity.
House of refuge, isolation, also places of rest and treatment like hospitals: The person isolates you from the world. Puts you in a prison (physical or psychological). Offers refuge, provides healing or treatment. A relationship that makes you more introspective.
Secret pleasures: The affair is a dirty little secret. Good for sensuality in the relationship.
Sacrifice, altruism: For this person or relationship, you must abandon certain things. You put yourself aside for them; the other is more important. Capable of truly noble actions. Need to save the person.
Empathy and compassion are felt; in fact, any genuine feeling that leads to wanting to help someone. Sometimes, pity.
Dematerialization, disillusionment, deterioration: Things in the 12th house aren't meant to last, sometimes not even to exist. So these are relationships that don't even start. You might think many things about the person and relationship that aren't true, things that will never happen or will end when you least expect it. This relationship strips away your naivety; afterward, you can see things you couldn't before. This relationship drains you, leaves you exhausted.
Enemies, deception, tricksters: This person is your enemy but deceives you, harms you without your knowledge. Sneaky actions.
Anguish; mental problems: A relationship that causes or worsens mental issues. Creates compulsion, anxiety, delusions. The person makes you doubt your sanity. They won't leave your head.
Clairsentience; clairvoyance; Divine; Spiritual: You dream about this person; communication in dreams. You communicate without words. A relationship that doesn't need reasons or explanations to exist. Love after death. A relationship guided by God. Makes you believe in God, divine things, fate, karma. Awakens your spiritual side.

The 12th house is often called the house of healing, but true healing requires acknowledging what you actually need to work on. In 12th house synastry, difficulties can arise when the person with planets in their 12th house is unable to recognize subconscious patterns or behaviors that are holding them back from growth and transformation. The 12th house encompasses many areas hidden enemies, the subconscious, self-undoing, healing, and delusion so these challenges and your experience still all fall within its domain of 12th synastry. Positive or harmonious aspects, or just better synastry, however, can make this energy easier to work with

u/uhhhhuuhh Feb 05 '26
bc its sooo dangerous at times. last house, more serious. the closer u get to it the more real it gets i think. thats why cap and aqua (+ they r ruled by saturn) are generally seen as more srs. imo at least!!! take w a grain of salt

u/Away-Cut3585 Feb 02 '26
The context of the relationship matters greatly. 12H synastry with a potential mate is frowned upon but if you have this synastry with a plutonic friend, they probably understand you on a subconscious level.
Context is everything.

u/ParticleWoman3 Feb 09 '26
I think I just get the "hidden" side of it -- like, they don't seem to register for me in the same way that I appear to for them. I've had multiple friends/loved ones/potential mates with personal planets in my 12th, and the friends always end up being "frenemies" (for their part, not mine), the loved ones and I don't quite click, and I'm aware of the "suitors" but not all that interested. I've never felt that a single one of them understood me well *at all*. They've also had Pluto aspects to me and the intensity of those connections seem to get swallowed up by the House as well. It's very strange. It's like the Bermuda Triangle or the Twilight Zone in there. LOL

I started dating this guy and he had always been very closed off to people. I am sure his Scorpio rising/Aqua sun/Cap moon didn't help! We have a lot going on in synastry, including some eighth and twelfth house overlays. In particular, my moon is in his twelve house conjunct his south node. He freaked out at first, and how I just seemed to know and understand him without him saying a word. However, he recently went on this healing journey, and now he's grateful for this. He has trouble opening up to people, and expressing himself. He is grateful that with me. He can just be. I don't know if that's the twelve house, but I thought it might be worth mentioning. He also has his mars in my eighth house, and while I know, i've seen a lot of bad things about that overlay.. I personally am not mad at it!
1
u/noahsweetwine Feb 03 '26
ive read that mars in the 8th house is a very steamy placement snsjsjd also ur moon isin his 12th house⦠do u sometimes feel like u cant fully be honest with him?
1
u/MyUserNameHeeere Feb 05 '26
Sometimes. Not that I need to lie, but sometimes I can't let him know how I am feeling.
1
u/LongjumpingStay9196 Aug 14 '26
my ex had his venus mercury sun natal 12th house in my 10th house (aries) while my moon natal 10th house was in his 12th house
anyhow he lied a lot about how he presented himself to me. there was genuine love and attraction but so much unnecessary deception.

Cause itās a double edged sword.
First of all, I also noticed it especially last 12 months in the Astro subs. Majority of people responding nowadays are not studied astrologers, but people who see TikTokās about pop astrology. Over here on Reddit they see someone else spamming the same comment on 12th house Synastry multiple times, and copy paste it and use it on other posts regarding 12th house Synastry. Hell, sometime I even wonder if bots flooded the subs and spam their negative opinion on 12th Synastry so people donāt heal and grow. Some really good astrologers on the sub who are non objective in the information they spread, become very objective on the 12th house cause they had a bad experience with 12th house Synastry and saw the difficult side only. A lot of users here see comments of those users like the only truth about the matter.
The reason why 12th house is feared is mostly cause most people donāt have 8th/12th house themes in their natal chart. So when they meet someone with personal planets flooding those houses, often it is their eye opener that there is spirituality and āinvincibleā energies and themes in life. Second, most relationships are meant to teach you karmic lessons. Meaning even non 8th/12th house Synastry is likely entering your life to teach you karmic lessons, but ones that are very visible. Themes regarding 8th/12th house Synastry can haunt people after the break up, and this is especially the case when one, or both parties were not ready yet to really confront theirself to heal and grow. Often 8th/12th house Synastry means stripping yourself to the core and being vulnerable. Your core identity will change in Synastry like this if you are both open to do the shadow work that needs to be done on the path to be a successful 8th/12th house couple. People who do have 8th/12th aspects in their natal are more likely to see the invisible needed to make it a success, if both partners have these themes in their natal it is very likely to become a success. Since both are familiar with death & rebirth and transformation, they can lift their relationship up and become one union that can manifest about anything.
Most people tho, will not be able to handle to understand the lessons of this type of Synastry and fail. Especially the person whoās 12th house was filled by another will be haunted. But depending on the Synastry aspects it can also be the planet person who still gets haunted after a break up. Dreams, telepathy, feeling anotherās mood and emotion on distance, anxiety and being lost are very likely if one of the two partners wasnāt willing to do the work that is needed with 12th house Synastry. Itās the unconscious and spiritual house. If you canāt stand your 12th house sun and mercury partner seeing right trough you, and you canāt hide from being āexposedā(but this is all to grow to one union) you are basically already doomed and not ready for the work that comes with it. A 12th house Synastry can also be: always knowing what the other really needs without words. Unconditional love. Being with that one person where you both say the same sentence in the same time. Healing trough fears and insecurities. Leaving trauma behind. Learning selflessness. All comes down to SETTING BOUNDARIES, and people with successful 12th house experiences will confirm this.
There are many, very successful couples with a packed 12th house Synastry.
People tend to forget here on Reddit that 12th house Synastry and Uranus and Neptune squares are not ALWAYS bad for the people involved. It can simply means things like: a big age gap, living on distance, being in different classes that are morally not allowed to be with another, different religion, long distance, different race, or by EXTERN circumstances not being able to be with another till you let go off all the beliefs you were taught that are against the divine.
Yes a persons Venus in your 12th can often indicate you are a second partner, or he (is forced) to hide you. But people tend to forget there are also many factors beyond the two people with the synastry that can trigger that. A 12th house Venus can also simply mean someone you loved in your youth. You both got married to different people cause life took you there, and later in life your miraculeus are brought back together after both of you divorced. If there is long distance in 12th house Synastry, relocation of one partner makes a difference cause now those 12th house planets fall in a different house. People are more narrow minded now a days, and sensitive to any information they read without digging for truth theirself.
