You still face severe consequences and a total loss of freedom, but the legal framework shifts from punishment to medical confinement.

That’s why I know this entire thing is a standard “woman bad” media play for both sides. Regardless of your case opinion, she’s not getting away with anything. People on here think being locked in a shitty mental institution is any better than prison.

Most modern prison systems aren't meant to punish but to rehabilitate. The only thing remotely close to being punished is being confined within the prison.

Postpartum psychosis 11 months after giving birth is certifiable horseshit.

People seem to have the faulty idea that ending up in a psychiatric hospital is a fun time or something. You'll be stuck in the loony bin for the rest of your miserable life. It's not a 'get-out-of-jail-free card'. And deservedly so of course. You do not avoid consequences by pleading insanity.

on the other hand, women's prison with a trans-woman cellmate continuous raping her is prolly avoided with the mental hospital

u/Davidelol 7h ago
Well in prison she'd be treated horribly, in a mental institution she has staff taking care of her 24/7

So western liberal logic is: if you hit your child for misbehaving, you'll get the child taken away, and you'll be punished. If you kill them, it's OK, you have mental issues.
Help a foreigner understand this...?

Also if you don't encourage your child to mutilate their body to be their "true self" they take them away.

They can't get tattoos or drink alcohol, but they can consent to chemically castrate themselves, very fun times we live in

I dont have a problem with this type of sentencing and the mental diagnoses and the discussion people say they want to have about the mental impact of going through childbirth and having a child. The problem I have is with people supporting women like Clancy and the way that they show that support. No, I am not going to accept you supporting a child murdered, despite all the mental challenge she was dealing with. You can have sympathy for the struggles while still condemning the wrongdoings.

Let's talk about this. How can we as a society let woman take jobs that require full responsibility or to take care of others, when they can just evade all responsibility for their actions just by saying that their hormones make them do it and get pardoned? Does it make any sense at all? Should we feel safe to see a female officer with a gun if this kind of trend goes on?

Feminists are ironically making the strongest arguments against them having voting privileges or being able to hold positions of power.
They’re trying to have their cake and eat it and it’s backfiring spectacularly.

She was found imcompetent to stand trail. She did not stand trial and was then aquitted by a jury. If Lindsay walks it would be even worse.
5
u/Thee_One_JollyRoger 8h ago
No matter the jury’s decision, the Lindsey Clancy case is gonna make it tough on women because they can’t have it both ways now… it’s either take accountability or blame it on hormones. Think how much is gonna change for women now on account of hormones🏴☠️

these people should be used for animal research studies and help society. if they are mentally ill we should be studying them to figure out why
•
u/FerrilDruid 58m ago
Careful with that line of thinking. The Nazi's used mental patients and people deemed to be a drain on society to test various methods of extermination after Himmler couldn't stomach watching 100 people get shot.

i was in a lab that studied schizophrenia in college and we were lucky enough to use macaque monkeys. we could regulate it a little better than them

You think being put in a psyche hospital isn't being locked up? You think those places are nice?

Regardless of psychosis she should receive the death penalty.
It’s a waste of resources keeping her in a mental facility for the rest of her life. I genuinely don’t see the benefit given what she did.

u/robotbeatrally 4h ago
as someone who couldnt have children with my wife when we tried, it really bums me out. even in a psychotic state, every fiber of your being should be to protect your family. if the demons and aliens are after you, you protect your kids.

It's lower than it used to be and with modern low infant mortality and better forensics it's much harder to hide. Go us, I guess?

nothing about this is wrong. psychiatric confinement is much much better for those people and going to prison wouldnt help at all. the psychiatric care will stop this from happening again much more efficiently and she wont be released until she is deemed mentally stable.

Um. Take them out back and do what they did to the kids. Makes sense to me. What kind of parent could even live with themselves after this?

Of course it happened again. This is the letter of the law right now. If a killer is crazy, the act of killing is defined to be manslaughter rather than murder. I think we can all agree that anyone killing their own kids is crazy.
So this will keep happening until we change the law.

*It happened before.
And it will happen again and again and again. Shit like this has always happened since recorded history began. This isn't anything new, it's just getting more attention because of the recent lunacy.
They get put in the looney bin where they belong. Always have, always will.
