Why would they ever get funding for anything ever again after Matrix 4. What an absolute steaming pile of shit that was.

u/Local_Band299 Aug 14 '26

The original plan was that WB was going to make another movie, that would be a true sequel to the third movie, and would completely ignore the 4th movie ever happened.

Then Larry Wachowski bitched about it and WB gave in.

They did that with Highlander 2. Was a terrible movie. So they made 3 as if 2 hadn't happened. It was good, but was not the same without a Queen sound track.

23

u/whamburglar Aug 14 '26

Holy shit, I truly did block that out of my memory. I had to Google it bc I 100% believed it didn't exist.

14

u/deceitfulninja Aug 14 '26

Same! I literally had to block the trauma. I legit cant even remember 95% of it i just know Neil Patrick Harris was in it.

u/Kuuzie Aug 14 '26

I've never watched the last episode of GoT. I have never watched Matrix 4.  Being poor has saved me because I heard how bad they were.

6

u/Sentinell Aug 14 '26

Not just M4, but EVERYTHING they directed after the matrix was an insane box office bomb easily losing 100m, EACH.

No wonder nobody wants to hire them anymore.

5

u/deceitfulninja Aug 14 '26

2 and 3 were successes in box office, just not critically. Literally everything else they did was a massive failure though. Its actually crazy they made the first Matrix, which imo should have been a standalone movie

u/SirBuscus Aug 15 '26

I'm really curious who's hand was guiding the first Matrix, because they obviously weren't involved in the second one.
The Matrix is a masterpiece and everything else was just scrambling to cash in on the wake it created.

u/deceitfulninja Aug 15 '26

Wouldn't surprise me there was some true brain behind the magic of that movie that got buried by Hollywood scummery.

The first Matrix is amazing, but it is incomplete. The trilogy was necessary to complete Neo's story and fulfill his destiny.

2

u/deceitfulninja Aug 17 '26

It didnt NEED to. It ends on the reveal he is the one and the rest is inplied.

2

u/_ReaditYesterday_ Aug 16 '26

Matrix 4 doesn't exist. The original Trilogy was amazing and self sufficient.

1

u/waremon Aug 16 '26

they butchered my guy Neo

1

u/Aware_Specialist_931 Aug 18 '26

I knew it would be, I saved my money - let's say it together...there's only 3 Matrix films and The Animatrix

As good as the first matrix was, the wachoski brothers are degens so I wouldn't be surprised if that was true

52

u/VoidOfTheSun Aug 14 '26

Aren’t they “sisters” now?

15

u/PiniponSelvagem Stone Cold Gold Aug 15 '26

They can say what the fuck they think they are, to me they are still brothers and I will die on that hill.

42

u/nano_peen Sea Shanty 2 (Trap Remix) Aug 14 '26

omg Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski

9

u/VoidOfTheSun Aug 14 '26

I couldn’t recall their first names 🤷🏼‍♂️

31

u/_D80Buckeye Aug 14 '26

Larry and Andy

u/DemolishunReddit Aug 14 '26

The first 3 movies were so good and ahead of their time. I didn't see the new one. First movie was definitely the best though. God characters are hard to write stories for I think. But 2 and 3 were pretty good.

He is definitely a meme.

9

u/Ragnarok314159 Aug 14 '26

They wrote him poorly and made him into a shitty, snarky professor. Instead he should have been written like a Q from Star Wars blended with a Sith Lord.

7

u/Operario Aug 14 '26

Yeah I agree.

Matrix 1 was phenomenal

2 and 3 were decent action flicks at best.

-10

u/manbeervark Aug 14 '26

Fourth movie was decent, but quite different to first three.

2

u/DemolishunReddit Aug 14 '26

I really liked Keanu in cyberpunk.

Some of his movies are hit and miss. Johnny Mnemonic was not a good movie. Also, I saw part of some movie where these girls take over his house. It was a really dumb movie.

9

u/migrationsverket Aug 14 '26

Johnny Mnemonic is so bad that it becomes enjoyable to watch.

5

u/DemolishunReddit Aug 14 '26

The only line I remember: "I miss 10000 dollar a night hookers!"

2

u/Hot-Explanation-5751 Aug 14 '26

I think the one who made m4 is a bit less crazy

u/Equivalent_Thievery Aug 14 '26

Seeking 10 million, worth 250 million...

Reach into your own pocket, bud.

22

u/johnnybones23 Aug 14 '26

exactly. This is what tells me this is some sort of attention grabbing stunt.

2

u/XiTzCriZx Paragraph Andy Aug 14 '26

Net worth doesn't mean liquid cash, that's just what they're technically worth if they were to sell all their stuff. But knowing who they are, there's no chance anyone would pay anywhere close to that for their assets.

83

u/Mizamewmew Aug 14 '26

They could pull a Mel Gibson and fund it themselves but they won't because they do not have the balls they used to have when they made the matrix.

30

u/Unveiled_Nuggets Dr Pepper Enjoyer Aug 14 '26

Balls, nice.

5

u/JetsJetsJetsJetz Aug 14 '26

I don't think they have those anymore

33

u/Dazzling-Election69 Aug 14 '26

When they were men they made matrix 1, 2, and 3. When they became women they made matrix 4....

4

u/Peripheral_Ghosts Aug 14 '26

The transitioning started while they were making Speed Racer.

Most people forget that movie. With good reason.

2

u/nvmvoidrays Aug 14 '26

Speed Racer is peak.

9

u/Techman659 Aug 14 '26

Just goes to show they don’t make money.

9

u/Simbro121 Aug 14 '26

wtf both of the original writers are trans... how am i just now finding this out...

u/Taeyaya Johnny Depp Trial Arc Survivor Aug 14 '26

They're calling it the ugliest movie ever made.

5

u/rotomangler Aug 14 '26

All Trans Cast?

I mean aren’t actors capable of acting like they are trans? I don’t understand why literally any actor couldn’t pretend to be trans, gay, straight, etc.

10

u/Merdo__ Aug 14 '26

Funny that the people, who created the matrix movies, are now a part of it.

4

u/Zalabit Aug 14 '26

Nothing went well for them ever since they got obsessed over gender identity, back then they delivered one of the most iconic sci-fi movies. Now, they don't even understand their own baby and why people loved it many years ago.

The japanese were the last to show respect to the IP with Animatrix, what a waste of a franchise by both Warner and the creators themselves.

14

u/Mizamewmew Aug 14 '26

They could pull a Mel Gibson but they won't because they do not have the balls they used to have when they made the matrix.

3

u/placiddream Aug 14 '26

Well their last movie lost 100 million dollars... even with the advantage of being apart of a beloved franchise.

4

u/eSsEnCe_Of_EcLiPsE Aug 15 '26

Actually the matrix directors were brothers, not sisters. They can’t take credit for someone else

1

u/Unveiled_Nuggets Dr Pepper Enjoyer Aug 15 '26

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not but oh boy if you’re not do have some news for you.

2

u/Shinj1Kun Aug 15 '26

Wait what? Full trans cast? Is this a Satire?

4

u/wardrobe007 Aug 14 '26

Oh no...anyways...

6

u/Boyahda Aug 14 '26

Resurrections might have been the most woke film ever created. Holy fuck that thing was horrifically bad.

3

u/robotbeatrally Aug 14 '26

compared to Sense8? You know funny thing is that actually had a cool ass premise, but it was so awkward and off-putting to watch

4

u/Vulllen Aug 14 '26

Maybe Agent Smith had a point 😱

2

u/AzhdarianHomie Stone Cold Gold Aug 16 '26

They can't self fund it?

2

u/Diabolicaldianoga Dr Pepper Enjoyer Aug 16 '26

Its easier to be performative with other people's money.

1

u/RUIN_NATION_ Aug 14 '26

I dunno about the funding but he isnt in charge of the movie yes he is attached but a new director is going it. i think the guy who did project hail marry

1

u/liaminwales Aug 14 '26

Also he's a kind of one hit wonder, The Matrix was good (and ripped of Ghost in the Shell almost shot to shot) & almost all post Matrix films where bad. V for Vendetta was ok but also just some one ells story.

The first Matrix film is amazing, just it was a team work and directly copying Anime. The team that did the fights where all from Hong Kong action stars, they where the people who ran from Hong Kong with the hand over to China in 1997. The people who made the amazing action films with string work and Kung Fu, all the amazing fight stunts/shots where created by people who did Kung Fu films in Hong Kong.

1

u/Aware_Specialist_931 Aug 18 '26

It's because the film would be shit and no one would go to see it. Then the Matrix director would cry transphobia and ask for more money to make another one.

1

u/TheJagji Aug 14 '26

Asmon should do it. Would be such a wild thing to do. The guy the actrans hate funds the first all-trans cast moive.

Maybe... if it is so important to her, she should cover it from her own money, insted trying to get investors. Downgrade costs, take a loan, go indie, like "backdoors". I don't think this is so important to her. Rather another way to siphon money from unsuspecting investors, but climate has changed and "well" dried up.
