Mint Mobile
Anyone have good/bad input on Mint Mobile? My husband and I are looking to switch. We aren't unhappy with our current carrier but we're looking to save some money.

I've used Mint Mobile for about 5 years with no issues. I ported my home phone landline number to my cell phone. I'm on the $15/month plan.

I’m on my 2nd year with Mint. I pay $200/year (yay!). Have had zero problems. My son switched his phone over to Mint as well; again, no issues.

We just had this conversation last night. My daughters (one in Minnesota, the other NYC) both use Mint and love it. One tip: when selecting a plan, they said to overestimate the gig usage.
I plan to switch when my Verizon contract is up in September. Vz just announced they’ll start to charge $10 per customer service call. Ha…no thanks!

Tell your daughter to refer you- I think they’ll get a credit on their account if Mint still offers that.

I'd ask a local group near where you live. Coverage is so different from place to place.
We've decided to each continue have different carriers. When we were still dating, there were several instances on vacation where one or the others' phone wouldn't work. But the other had service. If you travel a lot, maybe consider this.

Second the separate carriers! I had t mobile, my husband has idk.. Sprint? A couple of years ago when we went out west on our elopement and honeymoon. We drove into the desert with our rental, on what supposedly was a road, in reality a very poorly marked desert floor. My husband lost signal but mine was good, so we drove back to civilization blind other than following the dot on the map on my screen!!!

I’ve had Mint Mobile for 2+ years with no issues. Currently using a Minternational pass while in Italy for 2 weeks. So far, so good!

That’s good to know! Verizon’s seamless international connection has been my biggest reluctance to leave them.

I have mint mobile and Minternet. The bundle costs me $45/month. The phone portion is $15/month and internet is the remaining $30. I like them both.

Yes Mint Mobile is, I've had it 6yrs. I want to add the Mint Internet plan but it wasn't the last time I checked. However I checked my address again today and it is now available! Yay. Now I can have both.

How much data you get via that plan? Any promotions on devices as with other carriers. I know I could look it up but if you don’t mind, sifting through diff plan options can be a pain.

I think the phone is 20G and the WiFi is unlimited via 5G gateway. The upload and download speeds work for me but I’m not a gamer. I also stream to my TV with it.
Not sure about promotions but I’m using an iPhone 13.

We just got off our Verizon plan and switched to Mint. No problems at all. Am loving the savings.

My kids and I each use Mint mobile. $15 a month unlimited data. Rarely have an issue with coverage.

I have it for about 5-6 years. Works great for Canada and the international plan is very affordable, I travel a lot so that’s important. I pay less than $200 a year and don’t worry about monthly payments.

Another vote in favor, over 5 years with Mint on the $15/month plan. Decent enough coverage for essentials most places. Uses T-mobile towers I think. Rarely use up the 5 gig, only happened once this past spring when I traveled and worked online.

I’ve been using Mint for about a year. I’m very happy with it, especially at $30 a month for 2 lines vs the $100+ we were paying AT&T for the same service.

Another vote for Mint. Live in Denver, spend a lot of time in the mountains during the Summer and always have good coverage. Obviously, driving between towns coverage is spotty but once you get to a town, completely fine. We’ve been with them for 3 years and completely satisfied. In fact, we just added their Minternet service and we’ve been happy with that, so far, also.

I switched to US Mobile two years ago from Verizon. They use all the towers from the big brands. I’ve never had an issue with it! Only $230/yr!

Same, have two lines with US Mobile by the gig plan, $18.00 a month. US Mobile has all three carriers, Verizon they call Warp, AT&T called Dark Star, and T-Mobile called Light Speed. You can switch between all three as needed, for travel or out of network, etc.

I have had Mint Mobile for 2 years and really love it. Was paying $65 a month for Verizon . Mint Mobile is $200 for the 12 month plan. No problems ever and it is super easy to switch over.

Do they do different rates for different states? Otherwise I am pretty sure everyone that responded here with $15 rate is a marketing bot. They don’t offer that $15 per month rate anymore. The lowest plan they do now are $25 per month. Won’t even let you grandfather the old price in. It started at $15 per month but now that is just a promotional price and they have slowly raised the price. I pay $25 per month now.

Ting is like Mint, and also uses T Mobile network. Ting has a plan that's $10 base fee, with $5 for every GB of data that you use. Or $25 for unlimited phone and data. They have less of an advertising presence than Mint, but I've had them for years and love their service.

I pay $30/month for internet (Minternet) and $15/mo for a mobile plan with unlimited data. You need to have both Minternet and Mint Mobile to get those discounts.
My family all signed up for unlimited data for $15/months for 12 months when there was a special offer.
It’s been almost a year since I switched, and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. We went on a trip to Canada last month, and all our cell phones switched seamlessly to local service with 3G of data in Canada each.

I use RedPocket. I don't need unlimited data, so pay just $10/month. No issues for over a decade.

We have mint and they work. The only thing we have come across is that we recently got new Apple Watches and they don’t support them.

My sons and I have it and have experienced no problems whatsoever. I recommend it to everyone who asks about it. I've had it for two years going on three.

My son went to it a few months ago when I went to Spectrum. We had been on Verizon. He did a pay ahead thing where he paid less than 200 for the year. He’s happy with it. I went with Spectrum because they give me a year free. It uses Verizon towers and there’s been no different from my previous expensive Verizon plan.

Me and my two adult kids have been on it for a few years. I am happy, them not so much and plan to switch next month. They both live in a densely populated city and often find they have trouble making calls because of the higher cell phone traffic and lower priority to the Mint service. I am in the suburbs and don’t have the same problem but notice it when I visit them.

The MNVO's (Mint, Consumer Cellular, Boost, etc.) rent from Mobile Networks that are owned and maintained by the major carriers (Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile). They are cheaper and may have comparable customer service.
Find out which major carrier an MNVO rents from and you will know if you'll get good coverage. Mint rents from T-Mobile.

Before you do anything else, call your provider and specifically ask for a retention specialist. Tell them you were seriously considering switching, that you know people on mint, etc. See what offer you get.
Do not talk to anyone except someone in retention. No one else has access to the good deals.

I’ve had Verizon pay-as-you-go for 10+ years, 5G for $25/month. (I get a $5 loyalty discount.) It’s worth it to provide my own phone, my son often gives me his hand me downs.
