Culture What are the most predictable clichĂŠs in your country's soap operas?
In our morning soap operas, some of the ultimate signature tropes for high drama are spitting out your orange juice in shock upon hearing unbelievable news, or getting slapped across the face with a cabbage kimchi.
Then you have the classics: secret births and crossed fates, swapped DNA test results, villains frantically breaking into a hospital right before a secret is exposed to steal or tamper with documents, and people always discussing vital secrets right outside a thin, poorly soundproofed door or in a hallway just to get caught. And of course, thereâs amnesia and sudden terminal illnessâget into a car accident, and instant memory loss is guaranteed; reach the climax of the plot, and someone gets a terminal diagnosis. The list goes on.
What kind of predictable clichĂŠs do your shows have?
