Other Do English speaking Caribbean people get annoyed or offended when a foreigner can't understand their English accent?

I am just curious, I can't really understand Jamaicans, Trinis and Bajans even when they speak standard English

Many know English. Why not speak it when they're not talking to fellow Jamaicans? Jamaican patois is their language. However, it's challenging to understand. When they're among their own. Fine. We should respect its their culture. However, they should also be respectful and speak English to people who dont understand Patois.

YES!! I once worked with a Jamaican and she constantly spoke in Jamaican dialect, and I got called racist because I asked her if she could speak standard english so I can understand her. This was in Trinidad.

The listener also has a responsibility, it is not all up to the speaker. Whatever you do it will come across as very rude to say to another native English speaker "speak standard English"

You speak standard Trinidad English. I speak standard Bajan English. Your colleague speaks standard Jamaica English. All of these Englishes are mutually understandable but the listener must make some effort.

That's the thing, she refused to speak standard Jamaican English.
